snancypants Posted August 11, 2007 Share Posted August 11, 2007 I do think Jameka tries to be a good Christian. It seems to me she takes her faith very seriously. Does she stray and make mistakes - yes - she is human. Everyone acts like she is the worst sinner on BB since she does talk about God and then drops an F bomb. If she was perfect she WOULD be God! I certainly hope she doesn't lose her job. I am not even a Jameka fan but I do believe she wants to live her life as a Christian and is trying. That house this year is certainly a test for her! ranjake Posted August 11, 2007 Share Posted August 11, 2007 jameka...at least from what i understand of the bible, has at the very least interpreted things in a manner different from how they are written. in my opinion only. i understand some evangelical christians believe in the bible literally, but i've heard her explain things i definitely thought were a bit twisted. and then she explains them to amber. who totally confuses them. i'm not on her for not being perfect, no one is. she does seem pretty judgemental ...but who knows. if it is anything in maryland like it is here, and the school district sees some youtube, she will not keep her job; they're very strict about stuff like that here. I've said it before and will say it again... I don't think Amber got past the 8th grade. Jameka said early on that she went to a non-denominational church. I'm guessing that the minister, preacher, or whatever never had any formal theological training and is probably more of a cult leader. I also think she is sincere in her beliefs, but she has her own, somewhat strange, version of Christianity that she adheres to. She seems to believe in a Gangster-God from the hood that allows cussing of all kinds. Although it seems a little creepy, I have heard other Christians refer to God as a lover. We are supposed to be the "bride of Christ" so I guess it connects, somehow, in their brains. I, however, tend to think more along the lines of I am an adopted child of God, Christ is the son of God, therefore I am in a sibling relationship with him. That seems more comfortable to me. To each his own, I guess. Oh, and I was just remembering something from an early Bible study with Kail and Mike. Mike asked if different people wrote the Bible at different times, or was it all written at once. Both Kail and Jameka floundered over this very basic tenet of Christianity. As it turns out, I think Mike was just trying to see what they really knew about their faith because he seems to me to be the only one who was a Christian, but did not brag about it a lot, but instead tried to show it through his actions. ranjake Posted August 11, 2007 Share Posted August 11, 2007 my husband is catholic, and i actually know someone who's sister is a nun. while they do not marry because they become "brides of christ", i don't think they rapsodize about him sexually. i'm pretty sure...so that may be particular to jameka's church. something i just found out about a year or so ago is that some evangelical christians don't consider catholics "christians". they consider it a church of icons and idolatry. as some of the catholics i know have the strongest faith i've ever seen, it's just interesting to me.
