I wrote in another thread about tipping and stereo types, I have been waiting tbls since I was 16, (I am 61 now) I really hate to pre-judge or stereo type but it really does come down to that but I will say that not every person within their group are bad tippers, I have taken care of many Canadians, recently a group from Montreal who were fab. So there is some truth to Danieles statement, I just don't think they meant it to be racist, you take the good with the bad when it comes to gratuities, Servers in my state make only 2.13/hr, so we rely on our gratuities, and sometimes you want to scream," No do not seat them in my station" cause you know you are gonna work hard and not get paid. I still give the same great service to everyone regardless. I live in MO, and work in Kansas, and just the difference from one state to another and how people tip is crazy. fizzle Posted August 23, 2007 Share Posted August 23, 2007 ohh i know Fatcat... i know. i use to work at a hotel, and when asian men travel without women... you wouldnt believe how they rack up their bill with porn... i was SHOCKED! the people i worked with said, "get use to it, they like their cigerettes, booze, and thier porn." as far as tipping goes... i think that they are use to a system, they are precise people. thats all. They'll even order and extra drink and let you join in. Bartenders and wait staffs are the same way. If they see you in the weeds, but still doing a good job, they will treat you well, especially if they notice a table not taking care of you. But if you piss either set off, kiss your tip good bye. I can't say of one race tips well generally, but I can tell you bachelorette parties are THE WORST (if your female in your 20's). Whenever I would see them come into the club I knew I was in for a treat. BTW - Does amber still think that God is making her HOH? And was Jameka crying because Amber threw her under the bus? This is true in Japan. Anywhere outside of NY, people don't know how to tip, hence the 6 people party rule. If you have more than 6 people than gratatuties are added on, NY adopted this rule after the other state restaurants initiated it.
