I don't know if anyone has said this before (I didn't see it if they did), but Bueno is the way Hispanic people answer the phone. I once asked a Hispanic friend of mine why "bueno" when it means good and "hola" means hello. She said she thought it came from when the phone lines were bad in Mexico and people were telling the caller that the line was good.
