I'm a male, and this isn't exactly something I would ever worry about. But if I had to shave some private area or do something personal like that, the last thing I am worried about is how gross I look or how I am being perceived. And, to be on a reality TV show, MOST people would have to be just like that.. not care about viewer's perceptions.
