  1. I'm not sure. She's a mathematician at heart, so possibly she's made an error in her calculations. I think I remember seeing a convesation on AfterDark between Austin and Vanessa, in which Austin is pointing out that at the Final Four stage, only the Veto holder gets to vote. And Vanessa underlines that the winning the Final Four HoH at least provides safety from eviction and advancement to Final 3. So maybe she's counting on the fact that if it does come to pass that she makes it to Final Four with Autin, Liz and Julia, she is able to win either HoH or Pov. If she can get rid of Austin, even at that late stage, she probably DOES have a fighting chance at making it to Final 2, although she'd have to win out to get there.
  2. I wonder if Becky's toe (and the medical procedure she had to undergo to combat the infection she developed beneath the nail of her big toe) affected her performance in the competition to return to the game from jury.
  3. I watched AfterDark from my DVR earlier. But I was doing other things at the same time. I do remember hearing $25,000 mentioned, but more as it being the difference between second place and payout for anyone who makes jury. (2nd place gets $50,000 - before taxes - and does NOT get the weekly stipend. Thus, this implies that anyone who makes jury and gets paid about 15 weeks of stipend is making around $25,000, which seems rather more than the around $750 per week that I remember being discussed in previous seasons, so either I heard wrong, or Vanessa may be under the impression that they get paid about $2000 per week. Hmmmm, maybe that is what she was told SHE would get paid, since I believe she was recruited and may have a special deal?) I didn't hear anything about buying Julia a car. As far as the twins talking about splitting the money between them, I think it falls outside the rules somehow only because they are immediate family.
  4. Wow. That's a little harsh. (Actually a lot harsh.) Libelous, in fact. I think we all need to remember that Reality TV is, in essence, TV, and Big Brother is there for our entertainment. We should probably not take this simple television show as seriously as we do, but alas, real fans like us Mortycians seldom keep the show at a respectable distance, instead immersing ourselves in it until it takes over our very lives, which leads to feeling like it's all personal. (Sorry about that. Got a little pholosophical and preachy there. Must have been the effect of reading Austin's blog a second time.)
  5. Well, she's been nominated. And she cried. Now let's see how the veto competition goes. And if she's still on the block after the veto ceremony, let's see if she's the target or not.
  6. STEEEEEEVVVUUUUUUHHH!!!! Steve may have had a close call last week, as Vanessa was genuinely angry, and "D-U-N", with him at one point. This week, things seem to have been patched up, and Vanessa looks to be targeting James and Meg. But is he playing a good game? He has, on numberous occasions, quoted BB Canada's season 1 player Peter Brown, saying "if you're in the position that you NEED to win to stay in the game, you're doing something wrong." To me, personally, that sounds like an endorsement for BB16's Victoria's strategy of floating, even though I know that the quote really meant that Big Brother is more about the social game than about competitions.
  7. Actually, it's not clear yet. Vanessa seems to be under the impression that he refused to take her deal.
  8. In order to win this game, you need to make it to the final two, by either winning your way there, or by being taken by someone else... and THEN, the ONLY way to win is to receive the most jury votes. Getting there is only half the battle. And having more "blood on your hands" usually means that more jurors are mad at YOU than at your final two opponent. So maybe they're just equating blood on their hands to pissing off jury members, and thus trying hard to avoid that. Now, James doesn't seem to mind getting blood on his hands by making "big moves" and eliminating "big targets". That seems to be why he has many fans and followers in polls forums and BB-sites all over the BB-sphere. James, like some players in previous BB seasons, believes that making big moves will be respected by jury members instead of being vindictive over being voted out, with him responsible for their eviction. Which is smarter, "play it safe / no blood on my hands" or "big moves / getting out big targets"? Honestly, it depends on the season, and the jury. Only time will tell, so we'll see in a month!
  9. Please vote! Feel free to tell us your reasoning behind your choices. And also feel free to discuss the merits/drawbacks of any houseguest potentially returning.
  10. I know it's counter-intuitive, but most people aren't happy unless they have something to complain about. LOL I think that's why message boards and forums were invented in the first place! Newspapers, magazines, TV shows and pretty much every business, they all get about 20 times more complaint letters (more like emails, these days) than praise letters. So it would seem to just be human nature.
  11. James should be safe from eviction this week, because Austin (the HoH) wants to protect him. He could, however, get into trouble if Johnny Mac win the Veto, because then Austin could face pressure from his angels (but not Steve), who fear the mighty James.
  12. Ahh, Julia! Yes, what to say about Julia? "She's still there"?
  13. Although she didn't come up with the nickname, it could work well for her, as it implies she is too old and weak to win any competitions. The houseguests seem to forget that she came in 2nd place for a couple of competitions in a row, not that long ago. Will she really be this season's "Victoria" all the way to the end? Or will she manage to win a competition and stir things up? (Hopefully, that face-plant duing the OTEV competition won't affect her abilities. LOL)
  14. Some people think that Steve's not really playing the game. Others think that he is, and admire him for it. In any case, we got to see his home town and family support him on last night's show.
  15. I have a feeling that CBS has a sniper with a high-powered paintball gun on standby at all times. Back in the early seasons (Season 2) when people started flying over in planes with messages behind them, CBS was caught off-guard. (But now they make the houseguests run inside when they spot one coming, so nobody bothers anymore.) So I just figure they might be more likely to be prepared for those kinds of things before they happen.
  16. And they never will. In the Big Brother house, they have a very large production crew working around the clock, keeping an eye on them. Were they to set up cameras in the jury house, they would need another crew, and that would inflate their budget.
  17. Probably because it was the OTEV competition, and they were the only 2 left, so he sacrificed it and let her win. (That way, no one will pressure him to use it, they'll have to talk to her, the HoH.)
  18. Julia gets a free pass this week, with her twin sister being HoH.
  19. Steve asked him NOT to use the veto during the Double Eviction. (On AfterDark, they showed Steve thanking him for doing as he asked and not using it.) Steve was saying that Johnny saved Steve's bacon with that move. Early talks with Liz indicate Johnny Mac MAY be used as a pawn this week, with Becky and James being the real targets. (The twins like Johnny Mac and seem to think they would like to work with him, unlike James.)
  20. I just watched last night's AfterDark. Vanessa, Liz, Julia and Austin had a long discussion about nominations. This concluded with them jokingly naming this new alliance of 4 "Asutin's Angels", after which they did a classic Charlie's Angels pose, and then came up with a hand signal, while standing in a circle, of holding up their clasped hands like a gun, blowing it out and lowering it into the circle. Then, as soon as Vanessa left, the three remaining started questioning Vanessa's loyalty to them. And considering that she may start building bridges with the other side of the house behind their backs. Austen seems to hold way more sway over the twins than Vanessa. But, even so, the twins stand their ground on certain things, such as NOT wanting to target Johnny Mac over James (even though they are willing to use Johnny as a a pawn).
  21. In Canada, it's supposedly going to be broadcast on all Global affiliate channels as scheduled, at 9:01PM.
  22. Remember, you can keep up to date with the "Screen This" podcast for analysis of the episodes AND the live feeds, usually available within a day or two of broadcast (for episodes). Here's a look at one of the lastest: To listen to this podcast, visit this link: https://soundcloud.com/screenthis/big-brother-17-episode-21-week-7-hoh-nominations For a list of all BB17 "Screen This" podcasts, go here: https://soundcloud.com/screenthis
  23. Yes, it's definitely a Double Eviction, as Julie Chen announced it on last Thursday's show.
  24. "TAR" is the abbreviation commonly used among TV affecionados to denote the show "The Amazing Race", which Jackie was on prior to joining the cast of Big Brother. (What got her foot in the door, so to speak.)
