Here's a funny mildly amusing one.

(Source: http://realitytv.about.com/b/2008/01/09/so...rother-fans.htm )

Sophia Loren Doesn't Understand Big Brother Fans

According to a report, movie icon Sophia Loren is puzzled by people (like moi) who religiously watch the globally franchised reality show Big Brother.

She is quoted as saying "I can't get my head around people wanting to watch wannabes simply sleeping or having insane conversations or, worse still, sitting up all night on the off-chance two idiots may have sex." (Is she trying to say I need to get a life? She doesn't even know me!)

All kidding aside, even though Sophia doesn't get it, there are plenty of BB junkies out there -- and it's not about wanting to see if "two idiots" will have sex. We watch to see the relationships, the backstabbing, the game play, and all of that other fun stuff.

In related news, CBS announced yesterday that Showtime's Sho2 will once again air three extra hours of live footage from the Big Brother house, seven days a week, when new season premieres next month. We bet Sophia would be rolling her eyes about that!

Janelle Pierzina to Have 'Bigger Role' on Big Brother 9

Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Janelle Pierzina may be the biggest star in US Big Brother history. Her appeal is a tad bit confusing, but it's widespread. Everyone seems to like the buxom blonde, who combined a ditzy exterior with an undeniable talent for physical and mental challenges on her two Big Brother seasons (Big Brother 6 and Big Brother All-Stars). It's now being reported (from the digital mouth of Janelle herself) that Ms. Pierzina will enjoy an expanded role on the upcoming Big Brother 9, which is set to premiere next month. No confirmation of such claims have come from CBS, and Janelle's proclamation comes just two months after she declared that Big Brother and everything that goes along with it was firmly in her past

Got this from TVGrapevine (it was in my email, so I don't have the link):

"A quote from the producer of Big Brother 9, Allison Grodner, "Sixteen singles living in a house suddenly discover that their perfect love match is sitting right next to them. Your life in the house depends on this other person. You are going to sleep in the same bed together, you are going to compete together, hold the "Head of House" together, get nominated together and ultimately get evicted together." It was also pointed out that it wouldn't all be heterosexual couples, that there would be gay couples as well."

Are they trying to do this because of it starting just before Valentine's Day? I'm not a fan of the fact that both get evicted together because if everyone hates one or finds one houseguest flat-out annoying, that ruins the other player of the game.

CBS reveals 'Big Brother 9' cast identities and season twist details

CBS has revealed the identities of the 16 all-single houseguests who will be competing in Big Brother 9 and announced the season will feature a creative twist that will force the show's cast to pair up with their show-selected "soul mate."

Each Big Brother 9 houseguest filled out a "love-match profile" as part of the application process. During Big Brother 9's premiere broadcast on Tuesday, February 12 at 9PM ET/PT, the group will be told they are being matched up with their "soul mate" -- a "stranger who may prove to be their true love or their worst nightmare," according to CBS.

"Sixteen singles, living in a house, suddenly discover that their perfect love match is sitting right next to them," executive producer Allison Grodner told Big Brother host and The Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen during Tuesday morning's The Early Show broadcast.

"Your life in the house depends on this other person. You're going to sleep in the same bed together, you're going to compete together, you're going to hold the Head of Household together, get nominated [for eviction] together -- and ultimately -- get evicted together."

Big Brother 9's cast appears to be geographically diverse and consists of nine men and eight women ranging in age from 21- to 45-years-old, however all but one of them are 29-years-old or younger.

"We have a group of really energetic people. These people are over-the-top. Some amazing characters," Grodner told Chen. "There will be some gay men in the house, and certainly you can expect therefore it won't all be heterosexual couples."

In addition to the season's twist, Big Brother's two-story house -- which was first introduced three seasons ago and replaced the single-story building that had served as the home of the show's first five seasons -- has been redecorated to reflect a rustic modern-day lodge, complete with stone walls; a free-standing fireplace; a full-size, authentic handmade canoe hanging from the ceiling; a new diary room with real tree trunks in the background; nautical-themed bedrooms; an island oasis-themed HoH room; and even a few live animals.

Sparked by the still-ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, Big Brother 9 will be the reality show's first-ever winter edition. The show will use the same three-nights-a-week broadcasting format as the show's summer editions. In addition to Tuesday night broadcasts, Big Brother 9 will air Wednesday and Sunday night editions at 8PM ET/PT beginning February 13 and 17. Live weekly eviction broadcasts will air Wednesday nights, with the first eviction airing on February 20.

Big Brother: After Dark, a live feed program that aired nightly on Showtime Too during last summer's Big Brother 8, will also return for a second season. Big Brother: After Dark will air nightly from 12AM to 3AM ET beginning February 12 and feature footage from the same live camera feeds that are made available to online subscribers of the show's 24/7 live Internet feeds.

The 16 contestants who will be competing for Big Brother 9's $500,000 grand prize are:

- Adam, 29-year-old public relations manager from Cherry Hill, NJ who currently resides in Del Ray Beach, FL

- Amanda, a 23-year-old paralegal from Fridley, MN

- Alex, 24-year-old DJ company owner from Staten Island, NY

- Allison, a 28-year-old pharmaceutical sales representative from Boston, MA

- Chelsia, a 21-year-old college student from Cedar Falls, IA

- Jen, a 26-year-old bartender from Columbus, OH

- Joshuah, a 25-year-old advertising media buyer from Dallas, TX

- Matt, a 23-year-old roofing foreman from Charleston, MA

- Natalie, a 28-year-old bikini barista from Salem, OR

Julie Chen Returns As Host

Love Is In The Air As An All-New "Big Brother" Creative Twist Is Revealed

CBS today revealed the identities of the 16 Houseguests who will compete in BIG BROTHER, as well as the new creative twist that will play out during the first-ever winter edition, which premieres Tuesday, Feb. 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT).

This season marks other BIG BROTHER firsts, including the first-ever all-single cast and the most Houseguests in BIG BROTHER history.

When this group of 16 singles enters the house, they will be told they are being matched up with their "soul mate," a stranger who may prove to be their true love or their worst nightmare. Whether there is a love connection or not, once paired up, the Houseguests' life in the game depends on their partner. They must strategize, plot and scheme together as a couple for a chance at the prize. These "lovebirds" will live together as a couple meaning they will sleep in the same bed, hold Head of Household as a couple, be nominated for eviction as a pair, and if the time comes, say their goodbyes together upon eviction.

BIG BROTHER follows a group of people living together in a house outfitted with dozens of cameras and microphones recording their every move 24 hours a day. Each week the Houseguests will vote each other out of the house. At the end, the last remaining Houseguests will receive the Grand Prize of $500,000 and a second place prize of $50,000.

This edition of BIG BROTHER debuts Tuesday, Feb. 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
