So I was excited to be a guest on the Season Premier of the BB After Show.  I had prepared 10 minutes worth of talking points, then ended talking 45 minutes with Sam.  it was a blast!

Here are my notes prepared for the show.  Next week, Sam is taking phone calls, so please, call him and tell him how much you enjoyed his conversation with me!  :D

Morty’s TV
What’s up, America! This will be the 25th season of Big Brother covered by Morty’s TV, when you consider Big Brother USA, Big Brother Canada and Big Brother Over-The-Top.  That one kind of snuck up on me this week.  And while we’re disappointed that Big Brother Canada is on indefinite hiatus, we’re really excited about what’s in store for the 19th season of Big Brother USA.

The central destination for Morty’s TV is our web site at mortystv.com/bb, where we update our live feed coverage throughout the day, as well as our episode play-by-play recaps, along with link to all our sites and services.

You can also visit the Morty’s TV Fan Forums & Chat at tvfanforums.net, where we have our live feed forums for anyone who wants to update, as well as our BB19 discussion forums and new this year, the Morty’s TV Blog Project, where we have four bloggers opining on the house happenings throughout the season.
The Morty’s TV Chat room is always open when you want to talk Big Brother without the noise and shouting of other chats.  You’ll often find Morty or myself there, ready to say hi.  Of course, we’re back on Facebook and Twitter this season, with real-time live feed updates on our Facebook Page and Twitter stream, and the conversation never stops on the Morty’s TV group on Facebook.

And starting tonight, the Morty’s TV Live Feed Meme contest is back, with weekly winners and one grand prize winner for the best meme created from a live feed image during the season.

None of this works without a small army of volunteers and we never have enough, so if anyone is interested in joining the Morty’s TV team to help with our Big Brother coverage , go to mortystv.com/bb and click on Join the Morty's TV Live Feed Coverage Team, or email contact.mortystv@gmail.com for more info.

Finally, we’d like your help spreading the word of Morty’s TV with your Big Brother friends, so please, follow us on Twitter, like our Facebook page, share our updates and retweet our tweets.  And feel free to reply to our posts, post on the discussion boards, visit us in Chat and tell us what you think of us and the season.

The Houseguests
A few thoughts on the Houseguests:

Christmas – Saturday it will be Christmas in July and she’s no joke.  She’ll give the guys a run for their money in physical comps, but maybe the guys should make her one of their own instead.  Keep your enemies closer.

Alex – Did anyone pick up on her preparing for the apocalypse?  If that’s the case, Big Brother should be a cake walk.  She could be an eco-friendly assassin in the game if no one pays attention.

Matthew – The Taylor Hicks of Big Brother.  I think he should have not confessed his age and seen if he could have formed an “seniors” alliance with Jason and Kevin.

Jason – If he doesn’t tone down that laugh, he may be laughing his way out of the Big Brother house.  He needs to be less good time and more game time.

Jessica – She needs to demonstrate to us there’s a brain behind that beauty, but for the rest of the house, use whatever you can to get a foothold in the game.

Kevin – With all his experience raising girls, he should immediately try to form an alliance with the younger girls in the house who might be welcoming of a father figure.  Or, as an Italian mobster, make the boys an alliance offer they can’t refuse.

Megan- She comes across as someone who is unsure and unreliable, which may be part of her devious plan to mentally interrogate her prisoners, I mean housemates.  I look forward to seeing if she’s all talk or if she’s got game.

Josh – Way too eager and excited.  Don Johnson called and wants his Miami Vice back.  I predict his hustler personality will earn him penalty points in the house if he can’t tone down his colorfulness.

Jillian – Her picture has this look that says don’t underestimate me just because I’m blonde.  I think she’s going to be a schemer.

Mark – The tree trunk teddy bear.  Sure, he’s big and strong like Hercules, but you need to also be fast and nimble, so his physical build could work against him.  The question is whether he can be a people person too.

Raven – We know she’s a fighter, having come back from a life-threatening genetic disorder.  Presumably ,she’s physically capable of taking on anything Big Brother throws at her, and mentally tough, but will her housemates perceive her as anything but flighty with her Princess Leia hair?

Dominque – Everyone’s going to compare her to Da’Vonne, but Da’Vonne never quoted scripture.  We can argue about whether Gd has any place in the Big Brother house some other time.  The real question will be can she check her personal morals at the front door.  Lead us not into temptation, after all.

Cody – Strong and lean as we could be seen in the first competition, but so far, he’s got the personality of cardboard.  As a thirty-something, I can see him as someone who doesn’t suffer youth easily, but he had better get his head into the game or he’ll find his arsenal outside the house.
Elena – She could play the role of vixen very easily, whispering what you want to hear into your ear while trash talking you to everyone else.  And you’d never know it.

Cameron – So long kid, nice to have known ya.  It’s a shame that the house so quickly turns on someone who’s young, intelligent and not a physical threat for no real reason other than he was easy.  I would have liked to have seen what he could do.

Ramses – The baby of the house, his life is studying and make believe.  And that could actually help him in the game if he separates life in the house from reality.  He’s either going to sneak under the social radar as the house clown or get under everyone’s skin with his pep.  But he needs a bodyguard.

Paul – I could have gone all summer without anyone mentioning Friendship.  I know he has his fans,  but not everyone liked him.  A fan on the Morty’s TV Facebook group said they should have brought Pablo back instead.

A couple other observations about the cast and the house:

  • This house skews older.  With Cameron gone, only Jillian, Josh and Ramses are under the age of 25, and six Houseguests are over the age of 30.  Will this season be more mature or will the Houseguests regress a decade?
  • Jason, Cody and Kevin are all fathers, but there are no moms in the house.   Jason and Kevin are the only married Houseguests.
  • Politics aside, this is clearly the season of Trump in the design of the house with all the gold trappings and casino style elegance.
  • Ironically, Cody and Dominique have a lot in common (both have a government and nuclear background).  And Cody and Megan both have a military background.  But they’ll never figure this out if they keep trying to hide who they really are.
  • I really like the idea of the Season of Temptations, especially the consequences.  For one thing, it gets fans involved with the show each week, picking which Houseguest gets tempted.  It’s one aspect of Big Brother Over-The-Top, like the Care Packages, that’s found its way to the big show.  But it’s still up to the Houseguest to decide whether to give in or hold true to their game.  We’ll get to see if they walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
  • I like the production values of the first 3 comps this season.  I’d love to see them shake things up more, maybe take some traditional Veto comps like OTEV and turn them into HoH comps, HoH as food comps, HoH comps for Veto.  With a house full of SuperFans (only Kevin seems to be clueless), it would be fun to take everything they know out of the game.
  • I’d also like to see Big Brother use the temptations (and consequences) as an opportunity to pull in some features of BBCAN, BBUK, BBAUS and other versions that people like, like dimming the house lights at 1am, or forcing the house to nominate by points (and then shocking them by revealing who voted for whom), or pretending to send a pair of HG out of the house on a trip but secretly letting them watch the live feeds from the house.
  • We haven’t seen the Have Not room, but I’m really hoping it’s the boiler room of the Big Brother House.  I just think that would be really funny.

Sam and I talked about some other stuff as well, going on for about 45 minutes.  If you heard the show, what did you think?  Should I go back on again?    Will you call in for me next time?  Let's get the BB After Show conversation going!

Thank you for coming on Fuskie as always it was a blast! Loves the cast break down and I think it was very accurate! Megan self evicting is absoltuely horrible, the fact that Alex goes up in her place is worse. I do not understand the need for an eviction Thursday. If someone on the block self evicts BB should count that as an eviction and allow Jillian and Alex to continue on. This is absolutely ridiculous. Not on the block? Fine carry on with the eviction, but if on the block...scrap it.

I would have to agree with you here. (And great job last night, by the way! Too bad it wasn't 2 hours later to get the Megan thing LOL) I don't see why they need the ceremony. What would they have done if Audrey self evicted in 17? She was so freakin close to doing it lol.

The problem is....look at week 1. We have a person who has three weeks safety, one has been evicted, another has left, and then

the HOH has put up a total of FIVE people (original 2, Alex, Paul, Christmas) so far in one reign. This is EXACTLY why the eviction should have been cancelled. Production wants blood sometimes and they go against what makes sense here. To make matters even worse IF Christmas has a broken foot Wednesday and goes home, Cody will be putting his SIXTH player up in week 1. This whole thing was just bad bad bad. And as much as I dislike Cody so far, this is a VERY unfair situation to put the first true HOH in. He's basically marked from here on. Cody needs to find a personality and make sure he explains to everyone the situation he was put in and that its not personal. Sadly he doesn't have the social game that is needed to do so. In all honesty Jillian is in an even WORSE situation as the only constant nominee. I fully expect her to be done.

I agree. I think on Survivor, every time they have had a person leave due to a medical or the couple that have quit, that became the eviction for the week. Hell, if they just felt they had to keep the eviction schedule that they had, I would have preferred that they brought back the guy that was evicted on the first night.

Surprised Sam by calling into the Big Brother After Show tonight (and threw him off his schedule, I expect).  Did you hear it?  What did you think?  Do you agree with me or think I'm full of shitake?

I think you misunderstood what I was saying about Christmas.  I'm not thinking the cast comes off before the end of the season.  I think it's a totally emotional game move - guilt and sympathy.  Even if her cast came by September, she would still need rehab, strength and conditioning.  But just maybe it's not as life altering as she let on.  Of course, it could be, but Xmas is not someone who would have a hard time shading the truth to manipulate the other HG.

I did like that Mark stood up to Paul and am sorry that didn't make the show.  My guess is that if Mark ever made a move against Paul, that moment might find its way into a flash back.

Oh, and Sam, one thing I didn't get to say is that Jess is no marine.  When you suffer the kind of verbal abuse that she had and had nothing left to lose after  Mark won Veto, you might have broken too.  As for Cody, right or wrong, the only time he ever got angry was when he was defending Jess.

Who notes the HG haven't been given much alcohol this season in large part due to the volatility of the HG...

Gram, I don't believe you can completely portray a character for 3 whole months straight.  Nobody is that good an actor, though if they fool millions of viewers as well as those in the house, props to them, maybe they are the world's greatest.  If Paul makes the F2, he could probably win against anyone in the house considering nobody else has played the game and he has been playing them from the moment he entered the house.  It's like everyone has been waiting for jury to begin playing the game, but some of them don't seem to understand that how you send people to the jury is as important as who you send.

Paul hasn't cared who he ran over to get to this point in the game, but he's used Josh and Alex as shields for the most part, pushing them to do things to swing the house his way so that he doesn't get blamed for the fights and acrimony.   Jason may be the rodeo clown but Josh is the class clown.  Any time you have to declare how mature you are, you've given up the argument.  Xmas or Raven might earn some sympathy from the jury given their injuries/disease, so Paul probably won't want them to go too far.  They also aren't very close to him, therefore expendable.

I would think that Paul is not interested in having Jason, Matt or Kevin sit next to him, because they are not unpopular people.  They have played strong social games and now that the "real" game is beginning, are potentially physical threats in competitions down the stretch.  Mark and Elana are likeable but haven't played strong games, so they could be F2 options.  As I said, Alex and Josh are the most loyal and either would likely take Paul to F2 should they win final HoH, and that's a key consideration.  If it were me, I would try to keep Josh around, because while everyone was backing him up during his HoH, he's not seen as an independent, strategic or deep thinker.  It's worth giving him $50k if it means I would get $500k.

Fuskie

Who will be interested to see who, if anyone, tries to rehabilitate their relationship with Cody, regardless of whether he wins safety or not, to hopefully gain his jury vote should they make it to the end...

Honestly, Rose, that would be a travesty.  I'm not a Paul fan but he has truly played the house this season so far.

Fuskie

Who wonders if Cody is going to tell Matt/Raven, Mark/Elena, Xmas/Josh about the F4 deal (implied by Kevin) between Kevin, Paul, Alex and Jason...

so Cody has ammo...let's see if he can deliver it in a deadly manner. As for travesty, well the season has been...and I know that Paul has mastered the house with production's help...so I'd like to see the travesty...it would make me laugh.

Yes, he has the ammo but is he thinking strategically, or does he distrust everyone too much to see any path other than comps?  Will anyone reach out to him and if they do, will he be willing to listen?  Say what you want (and everyone has), but Cody's not dumb.  But he's been so damaged in the game that he may not be able to seize the opportunity when it presents itself.

Fuskie

Who notes if he loses the Safety Comp, he'll have to find a way to turn enough votes against Paul/Alex to save himself...

What a pack mentality, if Cody says anything he's a bully, if he says nothing he's a coward. Lord help anyone who speaks to him.  What An insecureo group of ppl.  This reminds me of a group of ppl who would not act like this if they were alone but they think it is acceptable within the group,
