  1. Well, Ranster, wherever you are....you were right last night in chat. It sure is a house full of pretty people. Kaysar and Michael look like cuties, and Michael can handle Sambuca so he has my vote! Rachel looks like an Erika clone. Sarah.........ehhh, looks like she has that baby quality that Michele had in season 4. Can't wait til next week to actually see them and hear what they have to say, in this case, a picture isnt worth a 1000 words.
  2. Sounds like this has the potential to be a very interesting season.
  3. there's no indication on the CBS web page that the BB house tour will be any day this week
  4. either we've been had or its going to be a 2 minute tour
  5. I think I was talking about this woman today, the one who had the really cute Galactic Cowgirl cartoons on BB3? I don't think she ever came back.
  6. I think the "cook" wisely comes in and uses that skill to keep themselves in the house. Maybe this year will we have a battle of the cooks. Last year Marvin came in bragging about being the house cook but ended up taking a back seat to Karen.
  7. I actually started this thread because I thought of Karen last year, it seems she had done some pre-planning and made some interesting things. Whether or not it was all PB & J I dont remembet, I know she did cookies a lot.
  8. I'm sure Morty is probably right...HOWEVER...it sure seems like they are taking their sweet time to me and cutting it really close, which only means that I am over anxious and impatient.
  9. You're right, I remember them talking and comparing the accomodations and talking about their handlers.
  10. That would mean we have to wait a few more years. Unless by winners you are including runners up, which means another summer of Alison, no thanks.
  11. Picture it, LA, the year 2005, stuck in a house with perfect strangers and nothing to eat but PB & J..........using a little creative license, lets put together a cookbook for these poor people. PB & J Pizza 1 12inch crust (thick crust is best) creamy peanut butter jelly Preheat oven to 425 degrees. (Sorry Canuks, you'll have to do your oven conversions) Spread creamy peanut butter to the edges of the crust, top with jelly, making sure the jelly covers every bit of the peanut butter to prevent burning. Bake til warm and bubbly. (this is for real, a big seller at a local pizza shop)
  12. Wow! its nice to see old BB fans returning! Today I watched a rerun of Yes, Dear........Jimmy got selected to be on BB.........oh how much fun it was to watch, just hearing the theme music got me even more ready! Can't wait!
  13. EWWWW, I forgot this one, $10,000 for everytime Jase did that face in the mirror!
  14. I wish they'd had some sort of fine system in place on BB last year, $5000 for each time someone said pinky swear, $5000 for everytime Karen talked to herself, $5000 for everytime Diane said she loved Drew.

  16. Ah, ok, thanks. I'm not sure whether we get Showtime or not, I'll have to check.
  17. I wish I could have seen this because I would like to have heard more from the parents. My gut reaction is that I really don't give a flying fig what these "professionals" do, its our kids that I worry about. But that isn't entirely true because the fact of the matter is OUR kids look up to these guys. I remember when MrGwire and Sosa were going for Maris record, the boys on every team we associated with were so pumped, hanging on every pitch in every game to see what would happen. It was contagious, before long I couldn't tear myself away from the TV when there was a game on. The kids have dreams of being like these men and sadly but so true, the parents push them. Sometimes I think the parents dream becomes the childs dream. From the time these kids are old enough to hit a ball off a tee, they are lead to believe they will be the next super star. They are pushed and pushed and pushed by over zealous parents to excel in sports. 90% of the talk you hear from parents at games is what school or what big league team is scouting their kid. The pressure on these kids is unreal. If you believe what you hear from these parents, every kid who picks up a bat or a football or a basketball in high school is going to get a full ride to some college based on their athletic performance and the supreme few will go straight to the pros. In the end, this doesn't happen. Those college scholarships are minimal at best. Very few schools end up giving athletic scholarships, certainly not the smaller schools, they aren't allowed. So what we end up with are disillusioned young men who will go to any lengths to live out mom and dad's dream. It happens every day in every school around the country. I don't know of one school where I live that tests for steroids, kids dont do it, theres no reason to, WRONG. They do and they are. Many of them with their parents blessing, many behind their parents back. I know of one family who actually had surgery performed on their son's legs so he could run faster. Steroid use is easy to pick up if we as parents would open our eyes. Junior doesnt go from being a gangly adolescent to looking like Hulk Hogan just by hanging out a the gym a few days a week with his friends. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we as parents should crucify these men for what they are doing or have done, just like a everything else, there was a time that what they did was accepted. What we as parents do need to do is be realistic in our expectations Whatever McGwire and the rest of them choose to do in terms of admitting or denying, they are going to lose. They will be criticized for using steroids if they do, criticized if they don't. And either way, impressionable young men are going to look up to them. What I would have liked to have heard from the parents and maybe they discussed this, was did they know their son's were using steroids? Did their coaches know? Even though steroids are banned at the high school level, there are unethical coaches who will look the other way if they have a potential slugger on their hands. Where did the kids get them? Most but not all supplements in health food stores are within the realm of whats acceptable, that wasnt always the case though. Also, this stuff isn't cheap, where does a kid get that kind of money? I'm facing a real dilemma right now. One of my boys came home and told me a friend of his is using steroids. He made me swear not to tell his folks. I did a Mark McGwire on him, I was non-commital. Part of me thinks they know and are encouraging it. These are parents who refinanced their home to build and $100,000 plus gym on their property. Dad sells "safe" supplements to the kids who come there to work out. And their dream is nothing more than to have one of their sons make the big leagues. Should I come down off my high horse and say something? I just don't know.
  18. Sir Anthony Hopkins. A friend of mine went to school with him in ENgland and says he is every bit the gentleman he seems to be. That man could just talk to me for the next 20 years and I'd be happy.
  19. BeBe Neuwirth seems like she would be a classy lady.
  20. After reading in the "Who have you met?" thread that Suds met Princess Diana, it got me to thinking..........Who would You LIKE to meet? Past or present, living or dead.......name just one and why.
  21. Richard Simmons - don't be to offended by him Ran, he is a total spaz and I doubt he had any self serving intentions. Simply because I was the only person who was standing in the office when he arrived, I had to give him a tour of the pediatric hospital I where I worked. It was like babysitting a hyperactive three year old that was bipolar. One minute he was laughing and giddy, the next the tears were rolling. I couldn't take my eyes off him for 2 seconds. Once he disappeared into the kitchen where I found him rummaging for food for a kid who told him he was hungry, the child was on a very restricted diet due to a genetic problem and Richard was about to throw him into a major crisis. Was never so glad to put someone in a limo in my life. Billy Joel - nice guy, very friendly; I think I was probably a wanna be groupie. So much so that I think he must have gotten used to seeing my face at his shows. One night after a show I called and left a "great show" message at the front desk of his hotel, he called to thank me and after that would call when he was in the area doing a show. Roger Staubach - one of my heme/onc kids was a big fan of his, as his dying wish he got to go to Dallas to meet Roger, the family asked me to go along as their nurse, we spent three days there. Roger was incredible, he took us to dinner, shopping at Neiman Marcus, he was our personal tour guide of the city. But the best part of all was going to the stadium to meet the rest of the team, including the cheerleaders (Jay loved that a lot more than his mom and I did) and spending part of the afternoon out on the field throwing the football with Roger. Tom Landry was also there. He and Roger are probably the most kind, caring, genuine celebs I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. John Glenn - an amazing down to earth guy. He will talk to you forever. My daughter has had the opportunity to meet several celebs in her time at OSU, she also met Mr. Glenn and he is far and away the one she has been most impressed with. Jack Nicklaus - a hometown hero, again a nice guy, very friendly and very generous. The Hudson Brothers - (bet very few people remember them) they were in town for a show, had nothing to do on a Sunday afternoon and made a spur of the moment trip to the hospital, very funny guys. Its Mark, I think, that is Kate Hudson's dad, maybe that will jog some memories. Howie Mandel - worked with him on a telethon, another guy who is so full of energy its not even funny, his mind goes a million miles a minute. Jack Hanna - another kind, wonderful, generous man, if you live in Columbus he is like the good neighbor down the street, it seems everyone knows Jack. We ran into him in the airport in North Carolina a few months ago, my daughter about wet herself when she saw him, I've known him for years so I didn't get the excitement at all. She hadn't been around him since she was a baby, I told her to go talk to him while I went for coffee. He was wonderful to her, even though he had just flown in on the red eye from San Diego. She's a vet student studying exotics, Jack is a good person to know! Having worked at a Peds hospital in a big city, meeting celebs was fairly common, but those were some of my favorites and for one reason or another left an impression. The following isnt mine, but my daughters, definitely my favorite. She called me one day last fall absolutely out of control, Mommy!!! guess who just gave me a ride home? I figured it was some boy she was after, but no. She had been to a political rally and just as it was ending a horrendous rain came. She said just as she was stepping off the curb to cross the street, a limo pulled up to the stop sign. The window came down and the man introduced himself and offered her a ride........John Kerry! Only a couple blocks, but wow, what a rush for a 19 y/o to be offered a ride home by the man she thought would be President.
  22. Thank heaven Morty is back! I sat and watched Survivor last night and was so disappointed that there was no place I could go and express my feelings on the show. (Didn't realize until this morning it was BACK!!) As for the "disturbance", I wouldn't have even noticed the offensive emails had I not been warmed about them. They all went to my junk mail box which I generally empty without even looking.
