'Lost' Actress Does Time Over Service

HONOLULU, Hawaii - "Lost" star Michelle Rodriguez surrendered to authorities on Tuesday, April 25 to begin a five-day jail sentence for drunken driving. Rodriguez, who portrays police officer Ana Lucia, opted for jail time and a $500 fine rather than 240 hours of community service.

"I kind of have to get back to my life, go back to making some money," Rodriguez said outside the courtroom after pleading guilty to driving under the influence. "It kind of gave me a hard hit. . . . I'm human."

The 27-year-old Rodriguez and cast member Cynthia Watros were both charged with drunken driving after they were pulled over December 1 in separate cars within 15 minutes of each other.

On Tuesday, the judge gave Rodriguez the option of jail time or community service. Carrying three books and dressed casually in a tank top and sweats, she surrendered to authorities at the Kaneohe District Court later in the day.

Choosing jail over community service was a "personal choice," said her attorney, Steve Barta. "I would suspect that because she has a hard time even going out for a meal without being intruded upon for an autograph or photograph, it's really difficult for her to do community service," he said.

Watros, who plays Libby on the ABC castaway drama, pleaded guilty to drunken driving in January and was fined $312, ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment and 14 hours of counseling. She also had her license suspended for 90 days.

Both Rodriguez and Watros were spotted weaving on a road in Kailua, on the island of Oahu, where "Lost" is filmed. Both failed field sobriety tests. Rodriguez recorded a blood-alcohol level of 0.145 percent, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08. Watros had a blood-alcohol level of 0.10.

Soon after, Rodriguez spent two weeks in a rehab clinic, her lawyer said. "She did recognize there was an issue to be dealt with. She, on her own, took care of it," he said. In 2004, Rodriguez pleaded no contest in Los Angeles to three traffic violations, including drunken driving.

Rodriguez completed a three-month alcohol program and is serving a three-year probation term. ABC spokesman Jeff Fordis said there would be no disruptions for "Lost." The season finale is being filmed this week and production is scheduled to be completed by May 5.

The truth is out there. Her husband outta here. After just 16 months of marriage, "X-Files" star Gillian Anderson has separated from her documentary filmmaker husband, according to a statement from the couple's lawyers late on Friday, April 21.

"Gillian Anderson and her husband, Julian Ozanne, are saddened to announce that their marriage is at an end and they are in the process of separating," read the statement released by Schillings Law Firm. "At this difficult time they request that their privacy is respected. There will be no further comment."

Anderson, 37, and Ozanne, 42, a Kenya-born photojournalist, married at a friend's beach house on Lamu's Shelly Island, just off the Kenyan coast, on December 29, 2004. They had lived in London with Anderson's daughter from a previous marriage, 11-year-old Piper.

Anderson, best known for her Emmy-winning role as Agent Dana Scully on Fox's paranormal cult drama, "X-Files," was previously wed to movie art director Clyde Klotz. This was Ozanne's first marriage.

According to London's Daily Mirror, the couple met at the dinner party of a mutual friend, with Anderson's first impression of Ozanne being that he was "obnoxious." She reportedly told the paper that she kept running into the filmmaker around town as "fondness developed into something else entirely."

The actress had been due to star in a benefit performance of "The Vagina Monologues" in England over the weekend, but pulled out after news of her split broke. The fiery-haired thespian recently received a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress for her role as Lady Deadlock in the BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens' "Bleak House."

Per reports, Anderson is apparently going from "X-Files" to XXX-files. She'll next star in the explicit revenge thriller, "Straightheads," as one half of a couple who embarks on a violent rampage after becoming the victim of a horrific attack. Anderson also recently revealed plans to return to a more familiar role.

"David Duchovny and I and creator Chris Carter are determined to do another," Anderson said of the long-gestating second big-screen X-Files outing. "Hopefully, by the time we actually do it, whenever that is, people will still give a damn."

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio suffered a minor leg injury while filming in Mozambique, his publicist said. The accident happened Friday, April 21 on the set of "Blood Diamond," Ken Sunshine said in a statement. He provided no details. DiCaprio "received medical attention and was back at work on Saturday, April 22," Sunshine said.

As a precaution, he was flown to the Nelspruit Medi-Clinic in neighboring South Africa for X-rays, the Johannesburg-based newspaper, The Citizen reported. He was accompanied by a medic and bodyguards, the paper said. Hospital officials were not immediately available to comment.

"Blood Diamond," a Warner Bros. Pictures action drama directed by Edward Zwick, went into production in South Africa and Mozambique in February. Set against the backdrop of Sierra Leone's bloody civil war, it tells the story of a South African mercenary, played by DiCaprio, and a local fisherman who join forces to recover a rare pink diamond.

The film also stars Academy Award-winner Jennifer Connelly as an American journalist and Djimon Hounsou as the Sierra Leonean fisherman.

Former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model May Andersen was arrested after allegedly becoming unruly and striking a flight attendant on a plane from Amsterdam to Miami, police said. Andersen, 23, from Denmark continued being loud and violent after officers met Martinair Flight 643 on the ground Thursday, April 20, Miami-Dade Airport Police said.

She was examined for alcohol and substance abuse at Jackson Memorial Hospital and later transported to the Miami-Dade County Jail. She has a hold for immigration, which means no bail has been set. She cannot be released until immigration lifts it, said Janelle Hall, a corrections spokeswoman.

The alleged behavior is not typical for Andersen, said executives at Elite Models, the agency representing her. "Our experience with her has been wonderful," Elite director Cathy Gould said, adding said she has never received a complaint about the model from any clients.

Andersen was set to attend a bond hearing Saturday, April 22. It was not immediately known whether she had an attorney.

A judge issued a temporary restraining order on Friday, April 21, requiring Charlie Sheen to stay away from his estranged wife, Denise Richards. Sheen was ordered to stay at least 300 feet from Richards, her home, her car and their two young daughters except during supervised visits with the children.

According to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the judge granted Sheen one-day-per-week visits with daughters, 2-year-old Sam and 10-month-old Lola and scheduled another hearing for May 12.

The court papers include a 17-page declaration by Richards alleging that Sheen pushed her, shoved her and made threats against her and her parents. They also include transcriptions of telephone messages Richards said were left by Sheen in April 2005.

Sheen denied the allegations and the judge granted his request that he and Richards be allowed to tape record telephone conversations with each other. In a declaration signed Thursday, April 20, he said he and Richards had agreed to undergo counseling to "address parenting issues."

Sheen added it was to "establish a mutually acceptable custody schedule," but that Richards stopped participating after two sessions. He also alleged that he had been seeking overnight visits with the children but that last week, Richards "abruptly refused" to allow him any contact with them.

"I deeply regret her response to my request for the court to decide what's best for our children has taken the form of baseless allegations that I deny," the 40-year-old actor said in a statement. A call to Richards' spokeswoman was not immediately returned Friday.

Richards filed for divorce in March after three years of marriage. The relationship appeared to dissolve in the public eye just months before the 35-year-old actress gave birth to the couple's second child in June. Then, after the second birth, the couple appeared to be on the road to reconciliation.

In November, Sheen flashed his wedding ring on CBS' "Late Late Show," telling host Craig Ferguson "things are really good." Richards and Sheen met while shooting the independent film, "Good Advice" in 2000 and appeared in 2003's "Scary Movie 3."

Sheen stars in the CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men." His screen credits include "Platoon," "Wall Street" and the "Hot Shots!" movies. Richards also appeared in the James Bond movie, "The World Is Not Enough," "Wild Things" and "Starship Troopers."

The irony continues in the two births. They were actually born in the same hospital and only a few doors down from one another. The only differences are their parents, exact time of birth and a few little ounces of birth weight. Here are their stats side by side:

Brian Grazer Unlocks 'The Di Vorce Code'

Oscar-winning producer Brian Grazer, 54, has filed for legal separation from his wife of eight years, novelist Gigi Levangie-Grazer. In the legal separation papers filed Monday, April 17 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Grazer cited irreconcilable differences. The court papers stated the couple had a prenuptial agreement and that they share no community property.

In his petition, Grazer asked the court to enforce their prenuptial agreement and also requested he not be forced to pay spousal support. He is seeking joint custody of the couple's two children, six-year-old Thomas and two-year-old Patrick. Grazer has a son and daughter from his first marriage, as well, teenagers Riley and Sage.

Grazer's collaboration with director Ron Howard earned them a best picture Oscar in 2002 for "A Beautiful Mind." Next up from Grazer and Howard's Imagine Entertainment is the film adaptation of "The Da Vinci Code" due for theater release on May 19.

Also in the works at Imagine is "American Gangster," directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington. Another upcoming project is "The Serpent and the Eagle," an epic about Spain's 16th-century conquest of Mexico that Howard is set to direct.

Levangie-Grazer, 43, wrote the screenplay for the Julia Roberts movie, "Stepmom." Ironically, her 2005 novel, "The Starter Wife," is about a woman whose husband of nine years, a Hollywood studio executive, unexpectedly dumps her for a starlet. Hmmm . . .

LOS ANGELES, California - The Tomkitten has arrived. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, the high-profile pair dubbed TomKat by the media, had a baby girl Tuesday, April 18, said Cruise spokesman Arnold Robinson. The baby, named Suri, weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 20 inches long. She arrived at 3 a.m. at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California.

"Both mother and daughter are doing well," Robinson said in a prepared statement. The name Suri has its origins in Hebrew, meaning "princess," or in Persian, meaning "red rose," the statement said. The baby was born in Los Angeles but the exact location was not disclosed.

It's the first child for Holmes, 27. Cruise, 43, has two adopted children from his second marriage to actress Nicole Kidman. Daughter Isabella Jane was adopted on December 22, 1992 and son Connor Anthony on January 17, 1995. Kidman is currently romantically involved with Country Recording Artist and fellow Aussie Keith Urban.

Details surrounding the birth, which was planned under the tenets of the Church of Scientology as a silent procedure, weren't disclosed. Outside the Beverly Hills home where Cruise and Holmes live, about a dozen reporters and photographers stood by. Security officers inside the compound videotaped the journalists.

'Pretty Baby' for Brooke Shields

Brooke Shields gave birth to her second child, a daughter named Grier Hammond Henchy, on Tuesday, April 18, at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California according to her rep. The baby weighed in at 7 lbs. and measured 20 inches. Shields, 40, and husband Chris Henchy, 42, who wed in 2001, also have a daughter, Rowan, who will be 3 next month.

Just last month, the couple celebrated the impending birth of their second child at a Moroccan-themed baby shower hosted by actor Steven Weber and his wife, Juliette Hohnen, at their Los Angeles home. "Brooke was simply glowing all evening," her friend, event planner Jo Gartin, who organized the fete, told People.

Of her second go-around as an expectant mom, Shields said, "This pregnancy has been a lot easier." The actress suffered from postpartum depression after the birth of her first child. She wrote a book on the subject, "Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression."

Shields has spoken out about her use of antidepressants and appeared last year as an advocate of a particular pharmaceutical company that had been instrumental in helping her get through her crisis. She was famously criticized by Tom Cruise, who as a Scientologist opposes psychiatry and prescription medication to battle depression.

This time Shields, who had trouble getting pregnant the first time, did not need the IVF treatments required to conceive Rowan. "And nothing is going to shock me anymore. I am more prepared," she explained. Though, she admits, not everyone is ready for the new addition.

"I said to Rowan, 'The baby is going to live in our house.' There was a long pause, then she looked at me and said, 'She is going to live in my house?'" Shields said with a laugh. "But she's been helping me decorate the room. It's been sweet. I'm glad she'll have a sibling."

Melissa Etheridge and partner Tammy Lynn Michaels are sharing some major family news with their fans. "We are thrilled to announce that Tammy is pregnant, and expecting our twins sometime around this fall," the singer and the actress say in a joint statement on Etheridge's official Web site.

"To answer the obvious question: We used an anonymous donor from a bank," the statement continues. Etheridge, 44, and Michaels, 31, who has acted on TV's "Popular" and "The L Word," married in Malibu in September 2003. Etheridge already had two children from a previous relationship with Julie Cypher: daughter Bailey Jean, born in 1997, and son Beckett, born in 1998.

The couple makes reference to the children in the Web statement: "These are our first two babies conceived together, but not our first time mothering together," says the posting. "For the past five years, we have been parenting two children from a previous time in Melissa's life. The twins will be a joyful addition to our loving home."

Bailey Jean and Beckett were conceived via artificial insemination courtesy of friend and rock legend David Crosby. But last August Etheridge said that, while she and Michaels were planning to have a child together, this time the donor would not be Crosby. "Been there, done that," she told TV's "Extra."

Etheridge credited Michaels as being instrumental in her battle against cancer. "When it was over, I came home to a bouquet that said 'In sickness and in health,' and she means it," the singer told Extra in an interview. Ewan McGregor has a new addition to his family: a 4-year-old girl from Mongolia. "I can confirm Ewan McGregor and his wife, Eve Mavrakis have adopted the girl but cannot comment further," a rep for the Scottish-born actor tells People. McGregor, 35, and Mavrakis, 39, have two biological daughters: Clara, 10, and Esther, 4.

The couple, who met on the set of the British TV crime series, "Kavanagh QC," have been married since 1995. Mavrakis, a production designer, most recently worked on the British movie, "Imagine Me & You." Born in France and raised in China, she served as production interpreter on the Chinese set of Steven Spielberg's 1987 movie, "Empire of the Sun."

In 2004, McGregor and best friend, Charley Boorman spent three months on a globe-spanning 20,000-mile motorcycle odyssey for the Bravo TV series, "Long Way Round." Mongolia was one of the stops on their journey.

Before the trek, McGregor told reporters that his wife and daughters "understand and are fully behind us, (though) I think if the whole thing was called off tomorrow they would probably be delighted."

Nolin, 34, already has an 8-year-old son, Spencer, from her first marriage to video producer Greg Fahlman. The actress, who also appeared on the TV series, "Sheena," and Hulse have been married since September 3, 2004, after having met on a blind date set up by a pal of Nolin's.

You know the old childhood saying . . . first comes love, next comes marriage then comes the couple with a baby carriage. Good news apparently comes in twos for actors Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard. Not only is the indie movie queen expecting her first child with longtime beau Peter Sarsgaard, but they are also engaged.

According to reports by People magazine, It'll be the first marriage for both actors. Let's just hope they don't go for a hyphenated last name. For spell check's sake. No further details are known; there was no immediate comment Tuesday from either actor's representative.

The twosome has been together for an impressive-by-Hollywood-standards four years after meeting on the set of Steven Soderbergh's 2003 low-budget and never-released drama, "In God's Hands." Though clearly the experience wasn't a total bust. Since then, they have kept a relatively low public profile, even as their respective film careers have increasingly put them in the spotlight.

Gyllenhaal, 28, has more than 20 films to her credit. She broke through to the big leagues in 2002's S&M-themed drama "Secretary," for which she received a Golden Globe. She has since starred in "Mona Lisa Smile," "Adaptation" and "Happy Endings," and has been lauded in the press as an avant-garde fashionista.

For his part, Sarsgaard, 35, has appeared in more than 25 films, most recently "Flightplan," "Garden State," "Kinsey" and "Jarhead," which he starred opposite future brother-in-law Jake Gyllenhaal. Sarsgaard earned a Golden Globe nomination for his turn in 2003's "Shattered Glass."

While this has been Gyllenhaal's first public romance, Sarsgaard was previously linked with model Shalom Harlow. If a wedding to plan and a nursery to get in order wasn't enough, Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard have plenty to keep them busy in the coming months.

Gyllenhaal has several films awaiting release, including the French romance "Paris, Je T'aime", set to premiere at Cannes next month, as well as the all-star comedy, "Stranger Than Fiction", with Will Ferrell, Dustin Hoffman, Queen Latifah and Emma Thompson, due in November.

"Weekend Today" co-anchor Campbell Brown and Dan Senor, a Fox News analyst, were married on Sunday, April 2 in Beaver Creek, Colorado. The bride wore a Vera Wang gown at the afternoon ceremony, which took place at the Beaver Creek Chapel. After the "I do's," guests headed to Beaver Creek Mountain for a reception at the Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch resort.

Brown, 37, and Senor, 34, were first reported to be dating in October 2004 and got engaged last November. Senor, a Republican strategist as well as a Fox News contributor, previously worked in Iraq as a spokesperson for and senior advisor to U.S. Ambassador Paul Bremer.

Brown is also a correspondent for "NBC Nightly News" with Brian Williams and the "Today Show." Brown, who often fills in for "Today's" Katie Couric, was considered one of the top contenders to replace Couric when she jumps to "CBS Evening News" before "The View's" Meredith Vieira was named as Matt Lauer's co-host last week.

Actress Ali Landry married film director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde on Saturday, April 8 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, her representative confirmed exclusively to People magazine. This is the second trip down the aisle for Landry, after a brief marriage to "Saved by the Bell" star Mario Lopez.

Landry, 32, wore a strapless, ivory Monique Lhuillier drop-waist wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline and full ball gown skirt. The dress was made of hand-sewn layers of organza, tulle and chiffon. In keeping with the Mexican setting, Landry wore a paprika feathered bolero after the ceremony.

"He is so beyond amazing," the "Eve" actress recently told Dolan Media Newswires of Monteverde. "When you dream of 'the guy' as a child, reading your fairy tales and thinking of Prince Charming, you think of all the things you want in a man. And he's everything I thought was possible."

"He's creative, passionate and would love to help change the world," added. "I respect him so much." Landry and Monteverde, who reportedly met at Bible study last year, got engaged over Memorial Day weekend in 2005. Landry will appear in the 2006 film, "Bella," which Monteverde wrote, produced and directed.

Landry's first wedding to Mario Lopez was on April 24, 2004. The couple split in June after seven weeks of marriage. "I thought I had my life figured out and all of a sudden, the rug was ripped out from under me," Landry said of the breakup. "I feel blessed that God has given me a second chance at my life."

There is No Doubt that the popular group keeps expanding their numbers. As lead singer, Gwen Stefani celebrated her pending motherhood with a baby shower this past weekend, fellow No Doubt guitarist, Tom Dumont and his wife, Mieke, welcomed their son, People has learned exclusively.

"Tom and Mieke Dumont became first-time parents on Thursday, April 6, as Mieke gave birth to their son, Ace Dumont," Dave Tomberlin, No Doubt's representative reported to People magazine. "The couple is happy, excited and having a blast with their new little one."

The pair, who met at an MTV party in 2001, hit it off right away Dumont, 38, according to the magazine. "I know a good thing when I see it," he said of Mieke. When the couple married in October 2004, the bride wore a gown designed by No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani.

Soon Dumont won't be the only band member with a newborn. Fashion icon and musician Stefani is expecting her first child with husband, Gavin Rossdale this June.

NEW YORK CITY, New York - Gwyneth Paltrow has borne another fruit of her labor. The Oscar-winning actress gave birth this weekend to her second child with rock star husband Chris Martin. The actress and her rocker hubby welcomed a baby boy on Sunday, April 9, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, according to Paltrow's representative.

Rather than drawing inspiration from the produce section, the couple apparently turned to the Bible while choosing their son's name. Moving on from the Garden of Eden to the Promised Land, the creative couple dubbed him Moses Martin, after the song, "Moses" that Chris wrote for his bride in 2003, reported People magazine.

Paltrow, 33, and Martin, 29, whose band Coldplay recorded a song called "Moses," have a daughter, named Apple Blythe Alison Martin, who turns two next month. Her first name drew considerable attention when she was born, and Paltrow has said the idea for "Apple" came from her husband.

Speculation is widespread on Moses' middle name but odds are on Bruce Anthony after Gwyneth and Chris' fathers. It seems logical since big sister, Apple's middle names are Blythe and Alison after their mothers.

Paltrow's mother, actress Blythe Danner, told People magazine in January, "We love unusual names in the family."

Paltrow confirmed in January that she was expecting again when actor Lou Diamond Philips introduced her to the audience of a screening of her film "Proof" as "a pregnant woman," then asked her, "How far along are you?" The actress replied: "Far enough along to feel very cumbersome."

A designer sued Melanie Griffith for allegedly refusing to pay nearly $26,000 for dressing the actress and her daughters for the Golden Globes Awards and reneging on a promise to mention his name on the red carpet. The lawsuit was filed on Friday, April 7 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Designer Niklas J. Palm claimed he designed dresses for Griffith and her daughters Dakota Johnson and Stella Banderas to wear to the January event. Palm said he submitted a $25,960 bill on January 16 and Griffith was overdue in making any payments. He also claimed Griffith and her daughters backed out of their promise to mention his name to reporters.

Griffith promised "that he will receive publicity that money could not buy, then conveniently forgot his name when reporters on the red carpet specifically asked who designed her beautiful gown taking credit for the gown herself," the lawsuit said.

Calls made after business hours Friday to Griffith's attorney and publicist were not immediately returned. The lawsuit claimed breach of oral and written contract and intentional misrepresentation. It also names Griffith's husband, Antonio Banderas and their production companies as defendants.

Palm was part of a costume design team that won a 2004 Emmy award for their work on the HBO series, "Carnivale." The lawsuit said he met Griffith last August when he dressed her for an appearance on a pilates exercise video infomercial.

Guess who's back in divorce court? Less than three months after remarrying his ex-wife, Kim Mathers, Eminem has filed for divorce a second time, the rapper's representative confirmed. The divorce petition on behalf of Marshall Bruce Mathers III (the Real Slim Shady's real name), was entered Wednesday, April 5 in Detroit.

Eminem's lawyer filed the papers at the Macomb County Clerk's office, the station reported. No reason for the breakup was given. The filing on behalf of Eminem was first confirmed by two employees of the Macomb County clerk's office. The employees didn't provide their names, citing an office policy.

"There has been a breakdown in the marriage relationship to the extent that the objects of matrimony have been destroyed and there remains no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved," according to the filing. The filing also said that Eminem and his wife signed a prenuptial agreement, although it did not list specifics.

The Mathers' first marriage ended in October 2001, but they reconciled in late 2004, according to WDIV-TV. The couple remarried at Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester, Michigan, in January. Of course, given the duo's long history of breaking up and making up only to break up again, there's no telling whether the split will stick.

But in March 2001, Mathers filed for an expedited divorce, citing "a breakdown of the marriage relationship . . . and [because] there remains no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved." Welcome to Russell Simmons' marriage jam. The 48-year-old hip-hop impresario and his model-wife, Kimora Lee Simmons, 30, announced Friday, March 31 that they were calling it quits after seven years of marriage. The couple was said to have been separated for "some time," though they appeared at public events together and remained living under one roof.

The split is amicable. "Kimora and I will remain committed parents and caring friends with great love and admiration for each other," Simmons, 48, said in a statement. "We will also continue to work side by side on a daily basis as partners in all of our businesses."

The two met in 1992, when she was a 17-year-old model and he was the 35-year-old head of Def Jam Records. They married in 1998 and have two daughters, six-year-old Ming Lee Simmons and three-year-old Aoki Lee Simmons.

She made the wrong kind of headlines in July 2004, when she was arrested in New Jersey after leading police on a two-mile chase. Lee Simmons was charged with marijuana possession and reckless driving and subsequently worked out a deal that resulted in six months' probation.

Seems Richie Sambora can't catch a break these days. Oh, wait . . . Just weeks after Heather Locklear filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences, the Bon Jovi guitarist is nursing a broken left arm suffered during a nasty spill in his Los Angeles home. Now all he needs is some "bad medicine," stat.

Per the band's Website, the 46-year-old Sambora took the tumble last week. He was treated at a local hospital and his arm was put in a sling. The good news is Sambora's bad break will not force Bon Jovi to cancel the upcoming stadium dates.

The Japanese leg of the Jersey boys' "Have a Nice Day" World Tour, kicks off on April 8. Sambora is expected to be fully healed for those dates, as well as band's busy spring, which also includes a month long European swing launching in Dusseldorf on May 13 and finishing up at London's Wembley Stadium on June 11.

Bon Jovi, touring in support of the its latest album, "Have a Nice Day," just wrapped the North American leg in Las Vegas on March 11. Even though he's supposed to make a full and fast recovery, we recommend Sambora hold on to his sling--it could gain him some sympathy points in his divorce tete-a-tete with Locklear.

According to papers Sambora filed two weeks ago, he wants joint custody of the couple's daughter, eight-year-old Ava Elizabeth and sought to enforce a prenuptial agreement signed before their 1997 wedding. The estranged spouses are seeking a private judge to handle the proceedings, which would enable them to avoid the prying eyes of the media and the public.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell was charged with assault for throwing her cell phone at a housekeeper after accusing her of stealing clothes when she couldn't find a pair of jeans she wanted to wear on "Oprah," prosecutors said. She was released on her own recognizance and allowed to keep her passport.

Campbell's lawyer argued that her famous face would prevent her from fleeing. "She is probably the most recognized and prominent model in the world," defense attorney David Breitbart told a judge Thursday in Manhattan Criminal Court. "There is no place she could go and not be recognized."

Campbell, wearing a white fur poncho, was arraigned on a charge of second-degree assault before Judge Richard Weinberg, who allowed Breitbart to enter a plea of not guilty on her behalf. The housekeeper was treated at a hospital for a cut that required four staples, said Assistant District Attorney Elina Kreditor.

Kreditor asked the judge to set bail at $3,500 and to order Campbell, who is British, to surrender her passport. Breitbart called the request for $3,500 bail "an insult," saying his client's Park Avenue apartment is worth more than $3 million and she earns "more than six figures on a regular basis."

Breitbart said Campbell needed her passport for a trip to South Africa next week to visit Nelson Mandela. He asked the judge for orders to keep the housekeeper away from Campbell's apartment. The judge said the housekeeper, Ana Scolavino, would have to give up her key to the apartment.

The judge issued an order of protection against Campbell, telling her she could have no contact with the employee. He scheduled her next court appearance for June 27.

The assault took place at about 8:30 a.m. inside Campbell's apartment, according to a criminal complaint. The housekeeper was hit in the back of the head and was treated at Lenox Hill Hospital, it said. Campbell was taken into custody shortly after police responded to the hospital to investigate the reported attack.

Facing a familiar sea of cameras, Campbell exited a Manhattan police station shortly after 4 p.m. in a scene that was part runway, part perp walk. Scores of photographers, reporters and film crews had gathered to record her departure; she responded by flashing a quick smile.

In a statement, a Campbell spokesman said the supermodel was not responsible for any assault. "We believe this is a case of retaliation, because Naomi had fired her housekeeper earlier this morning," said the statement from J.R. Johnson. "We are confident the courts will see it the same way."

This was not the first time the volatile Campbell, 35, was accused of reaching out and touching someone with a phone. In 2003, the supermodel was sued by a former administrative assistant who said Campbell had thrown a phone at her during a tantrum two years earlier.

Matt LeBlanc's Marriage Cancelled

As it turns out, "Joey" may be the least of Matt LeBlanc's worries. The sitcom star and his wife announced the end of their nearly three-year marriage Thursday.

The news comes just months after the couple's two-year-old daughter was said to be undergoing tests for a neurological disorder, and just weeks after LeBlanc's disappointing "Friends" spinoff, "Joey," was put on hiatus for the second time this season.

Divorce papers were filed in Los Angeles, with LeBlanc doing the filing, according to the National Enquirer, which was first out with word of the split. "The dissolution is amicable," an NBC spokesman said in a statement on behalf of LeBlanc and wife Melissa. "They remain devoted parents and friends."

LeBlanc, 38, and the former Melissa McKnight, in her late 30s or early 40s, wed in May 2003 in Hawaii. The ceremony was attended by all of LeBlanc's female Friends costars: Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox Arquette and Lisa Kudrow.

The couple has one daughter, Marina, 2. Additionally, Melissa LeBlanc has two children from a previous marriage. In January, People reported that Marina had been suffering seizures and having difficulty walking. 'Joey'

After a top-rated, 10-year run on "Friends," LeBlanc was handed the keys to his own sitcom in 2004. "Joey" moved his "Friends" alter ego, struggling actor Joey Tribiani, from New York to Los Angeles. The comedy got off to a decent start with critics and audiences. It closed out its first season averaging 10.2 million viewers, about half of what "Friends" had delivered in its final season.

When "Joey" returned last fall, Joey Tribiani became more successful; the show less so. NBC benched the comedy after the November sweeps. Earlier this month, the network moved it to Tuesday--briefly. After one dismal showing--a fifth-place finish behind a Spanish-language novella--"Joey" got yanked from the schedule again. While it hasn't been formally canceled, it isn't expected to be asked back for the fall, either.

In addition to his ratings struggles, LeBlanc found himself in a public relations bind last summer when The Enquirer got him to go on the record about a night out at a strip club. LeBlanc and his wife "split up" in January, The Enquirer reported Thursday. The couple had been together for years prior to their marriage. They first announced their engagement back in 1998.

Talk Show Host Charlie Rose Undergoes Heart Surgery

Talk show host Charlie Rose underwent heart surgery on Wednesday, March 29 in Paris and will be away from his show for several weeks to recuperate. He was in intensive care. Rose, anchor and executive editor of PBS's "The Charlie Rose Show," had mitral valve repair surgery, according to Howard Rubenstein, a spokesman for the television anchor.

Rose, 64, experienced shortness of breath last week while in Syria to interview President Bashar Assad and went to Paris for treatment, according to Rubenstein. The mitral valve connects the upper left chamber with the heart's main pumping chamber. If it leaks or narrows, surgery may be need to repair or replace the valve.

Rose was admitted to The Georges-Pompidou European Hospital on Saturday, March 25, a day after he was examined by cardiologists there, Rubenstein said in a faxed statement. After consulting with his own cardiologist in New York, Rose flew on Friday, March 24 to Paris from Syria where he had been on location for his television program.

Rubenstein said he talked with Rose on Tuesday, and that he had "sounded real good." He is expected to recuperate in Paris before returning to New York. His doctors expect him to be back at work by the end of April.

In the meantime, his program will be hosted by various journalists and foreign policy experts chosen by his staff. "The Charlie Rose Show" airs on more than 200 PBS affiliates around the United States.
