'Daily Show's' Baby Boom Adds Rob Corddry

"The Daily Show" correspondent Rob Corddry and his wife Sandra have welcomed their first child. The couple's daughter, Sloane Sullivan Corddry, was born on Monday, July 3 at 8:05 a.m. in New York City. She weighed in 7 lbs. 2 oz. According to her father, "She is showing signs of early genius," Corddry's representative said. "The family is happy, healthy and hungry."

Asked by People in March if he was nervous about becoming a dad, Corddry said, "I was nervous and then I was just frustrated because it hadn't really sunk in. Like, my wife was able to buy new pants and I was just left with 30 seconds of an ultrasound."

Corddry continued, "It wasn't real to me until . . . we saw that it was a girl and we saw on the ultrasound she has my chin so I'm actually passing things down to someone." As for having a daughter Corddry, 35, said he couldn't wait.

"I am so excited to have a girl! I'm really looking forward to having tea parties and playing with pandas," Corddry told People at the time. "Not a lot of people know that I'm a big tea-party guy anyway. I know exactly what to say to a girl, and that's, 'More sugar! More fake sugar!'"

This is the third "Daily Show" baby girl born this year, with Jon Stewart welcoming daughter, Maggie Rose, in February and Correspondent Samantha Bee welcoming Piper in January. Also, former correspondent Stephen Colbert welcomed his son Stephen Jr., who just happens to be an eagle, at the San Francisco Zoo, on April 17.

Actress Patricia Arquette Weds in Italy

LOS ANGELES, California -- "Medium" star Patricia Arquette married her actor paramour, Thomas Jane, in Venice, Italy, a publicist for the NBC hit show said. Arquette, 38, and Jane wed on Sunday, June 25 and were "surrounded by family and friends," according to publicist Jennifer Solari.

Engaged since 2002, the newlyweds have a daughter, 3-year-old Harlow. Arquette, formerly married to Nicolas Cage, also has a 17-year-old son, Enzo, from her relationship with musician Paul Rossi.

Arquette won an Emmy last year for her role in "Medium" as a murder-solving psychic who communicates with the dead. Jane's film roles include 2004's "The Punisher" and 1999's "Magnolia," as well as the TV movie "61," playing Mickey Mantle.

We wish Marcia Cross the kind of happiness that Bree Van De Kamp could only grit her teeth and dream about. The 44-year-old "Desperate Housewives" star tied the knot with stockbroker Tom Mahoney on Saturday, June 24. The wedding took place at the Church of Our Savior Episcopal Parish in San Gabriel, California.

A reception followed at the Ritz-Carlton in nearby Pasadena, sources confirmed to E! Online. The Emmy-nominated actress wore a Reem Acra number, according to People and Us Weekly. Cross recruited one sister to serve as matron of honor and the other to sing at the ceremony, which had seven children acting as flower girls.

Us Weekly reports that Eva Longoria and Felicity Huffman, along with hubby William H. Macy, made the guest list, which reportedly numbered around 200. This is the first marriage for both, although Cross had a serious, long-term relationship with actor Richard Jordan until his death in 1993.

Mahoney, 48, popped the question last August after about eight months of dating. The engagement came after intense rumor-mongering that Cross was a lesbian, following a report in The Advocate claiming that one of the 'Housewives' stars was on the verge of coming out.

But Cross' camp quickly moved to dispel the speculation. "In response to the recent rumors about Marcia Cross, they are completely untrue," publicist Heidi Slan said. "She is, however, very supportive of the gay and lesbian community." (So far none of the 'Wives has made good on the report.)

Mahoney has been a good-luck charm for Cross. Days before their betrothal, she earned her first Emmy nomination, for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Wisteria Lane's most uptight housewife. (She also has racked up two Golden Globe nods.)

Although the general consensus was that the hit ABC show slipped in its second season, 21.2 million viewers were still more than happy to stick around each week. And while there's zero indication that the series will meet its match anytime soon, Cross is not without plans for the future (besides enjoying matrimony, of course).

"If it all dries up I'll get my doctorate," the former "Melrose Place" vixen, who has a drama degree from Juilliard and a master's in psychology, told "Entertainment Tonight" in a recent interview, "but right now I'm just going to enjoy the ride."

Housewives coexecutive producer Kevin Murphy told Variety last week that Bree's third-season ride will include a "dark and exciting" relationship with Orson, played by Kyle MacLachlan. Shooting will commence on the new season in August. Meanwhile, the next 'Housewife' to stroll down the aisle may be Nicollette Sheridan, who got engaged to on-again beau Michael Bolton in March.

TV Producer Aaron Spelling Suffers Stroke

LOS ANGELES, California - Prolific television producer Aaron Spelling, whose shows include "Beverly Hills 90210," "Dynasty," "Charlie's Angels," "Love Boat" and "Melrose Place," suffered a stroke over the weekend and was briefly hospitalized, his spokesman said.

Spokesman Kevin Sasaki said the 83-year-old Spelling, whose series helped shape prime time television and boost the careers of such stars as Heather Locklear and Nick Nolte, was being cared for at home. Sasaki said he had no details of the extent of the stroke but said that the fact he was released from the hospital was a positive sign.

Spelling is the father of actress Tori Spelling, who starred on "Beverly Hills 90210," and actor Randy Spelling. Among his other television series are "Fantasy Island," Burke's Law," "Starsky and Hutch" and "Hart to Hart."

"We are very happy to be back in Australia," they said in a joint statement carried by Australian Associated Press and on Urban's Website. "We have come home to celebrate our wedding with our family and friends."

Australian media have widely speculated that Kidman, who will be 39 on Tuesday, and Urban, 38, will wed on Sunday, June 25 at a Catholic church in a northern Sydney suburb close to where Kidman, who was born in Hawaii, attended high school. Kidman was photographed leaving a private jet as she arrived in Sydney early Monday.

The Oscar-winning actress told People magazine last month that she and Urban were planning to marry. "He's actually my fiance," she told the magazine after hosting a gala event in New York. "I wouldn't be bringing my boyfriend."

Urban's publicist, Paul Freundlich, later confirmed the couple were "happily engaged." Kidman won an Oscar for 2002's "The Hours." Urban won a Grammy in 2006 for best male country vocal performance for "You'll Think of Me." Urban and Kidman were first seen together last year.

Kidman and Tom Cruise divorced in 2001 after 10 years of marriage. The couple have two children, Isabelle and Connor. Katie Holmes, who is engaged to Cruise, gave birth to the couple's first child, a daughter, Suri, in April.

It looks like Nicole Kidman is about to become a June bride, as reports have Kidman and Keith Urban on their way home to Australia for the big day. Kidman's children, from her marriage with ex-husband Tom Cruise, Connor and Isabella, are scheduled to fly into Sydney within the week.

According to Australian newspapers, Kidman and Urban (who's been voted country music's sexiest bachelor) left Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday, June 15. The couple will make a quick stop in Shanghai for the film festival on Saturday, June 17 and then on to Australia for their highly anticipated wedding next Sunday, June 25.

Kidman, who turns 39 next week, is expected to hold the traditional black tie ceremony at the Mary McKillop chapel in Sydney, Australia. And the actress is leaving nothing to chance, reportedly flying in her fashion team including hair, make-up and stylist.

NEW YORK, New York - A singer whose songs have topped the Billboard dance chart was attacked by a group yelling anti-gay slurs, and four people were arrested on hate-crime charges, police and his publicist said. Kevin Aviance, 38, underwent surgery for a broken jaw after the attack, said his publicist, Len Evans. Police said the singer was in stable condition.

A group of six or seven men attacked Aviance early on Saturday, June 10, and passers-by did not stop to help as they threw objects at him, Evans said. Four people were arrested on charges of first-degree assault as a hate crime, police said. They were identified as Jarell Sears and Akino George, both 20, Gregory Archie, 18 and Gerard Johnson, 16.

Aviance performs in drag but was "dressed like a boy" when he was attacked, Evans said. The flamboyant singer, whose song, "Alive," hit the top of the chart in 2002, had planned to take part in next week's Gay Pride parade and festivities, but will now be unable to perform, the publicist said.

Other popular songs by the singer have included "Give It Up," released in 2004 and "Din Da Da," which topped the Billboard dance chart in 1997.

Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, according to the star's representative. Weisz and the proud papa, director Darren Aronofsky and newborn son are all healthy and happy, the rep released in a statement. This is the first child for the New York-based couple.

When she first revealed the pregnancy in January on "The Tonight Show," the Cambridge-educated actress said of Aronofsky, "I found myself a sophisticated, educated American. He's not an actor. He's traveled the world. He knows where Europe is, unlike a lot of Americans. He's very cultured, but he's all man."

Weisz won an Oscar in March for her supporting role as a political activist in "The Constant Gardener." She also starred in both "The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns." Next up, she'll star in "The Fountain," a sci-fi love story directed by Aronofsky.

Weisz, 35, is engaged to Brooklyn-born "Requiem For a Dream" director Aronofsky, 37. Of Weisz's pregnancy cravings, Aronofsky told People last month, "I was expecting all the weird things. There's this jar of pickles sitting in the fridge. It's been there for months and she hasn't even eaten one."

Anna Nicole Smith is about to pack on the pounds and there's nothing TrimSpa can do about it. The onetime reality star has confirmed the long-swirling rumors that she's pregnant, announcing the impending stork delivery via a video message on her official Website.

"I've been hearing a lot of rumors in the papers . . . Let me stop all the rumors," she said. "Yes, I am pregnant. I'm happy. I'm very, very happy about it. Everything's goin' really, really good and I'll be checking in and out periodically on the Web and I'll let you see me as I'm growing."

Smith, who delivered the with-child confirmation while floating in her pool, failed to give any further details on the pregnancy, such as a due date or who the father may be. It's the second child for the former Playboy Playmate, who already has one son, 20-year-old Daniel, from a previous relationship.

Smith did, however, promise fans that she would fill them in on the finer points of her gestation further down the line and implored them not to believe any of the circulating reports. "Don't believe any of the other rumors," she said in a written posting on her site.

"I'll give you another update really soon. I just wish people wouldn't try to make money off me or get their 15 minutes of fame, but I'm not counting on it," added. "The only person who talks on my behalf (when I let him) is Howard K. Stern. Kisses!!!!!!!!!!"

But while Smith may not be eager to dish on the baby daddy details, the self-proclaimed baby daddy is a bit more forthcoming. According to TMZ.com, Smith is reportedly five months pregnant by the Louisville-based Larry Birkhead, who has been linked with the 38-year-old since last summer.

Birkhead has alternately been credited as a freelance entertainment reporter and a paparazzo. When initially asked by the news site whether he was the father of Smith's baby, he offered a sort of non-denial "no comment," saying, "I'm not going to deny she's pregnant or that I'm the father."

He later told the site that he was pressured into making the statement by Smith's sidekick lawyer, Stern. For his part, Stern denies that he encouraged Birkhead to stay mum on any fatherly developments. "Anna wants that guy completely out of her life and obviously he is having trouble dealing with it," Stern told TMZ.

Birkhead quickly issued the site a response to Stern's statement. "I was not going to discuss the matter publicly, but since Howard K. Stern is attempting to bash me . . . I have been told that I am expecting a child, I have seen the ultrasound and have spoken to doctors."

"I am very excited about the possibility of becoming a father," Birkhead continued. "Howard needs to get past his own jealousy about the relationship between myself and his only client." As for Birkhead, his previous claim to fame was favorably settling a libel suit with actress Ashley Judd and "Entertainment Tonight."

In 2001, Birkhead took the co-defendants, Judd and the entertainment news program, to court, after the actress allegedly bashed a USA Today article written by the maybe papa on the nightly "Entertainment Tonight." Birkhead received undisclosed compensatory and punitive damages in the settlement.

Mira Sorvino Delivers 'Mighty Adonis'

Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino and her husband, Chris Backus have welcomed their second child, a boy named Johnny. The baby was born on Monday, May 29 at 5:50 p.m. at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills. He arrived a week before his due date. He weighed in at 7 lbs., 14 oz. and was 21 inches long.

"Both mother and son are doing very well and are both very healthy," the actress's representative, Ed Choi, reported. "The entire family is thrilled at the addition of a baby brother for their daughter, Mattea." The couple's first child, Mattea Angel, was born in November of 2004.

Shortly after the birth, the proud father beamed, "(Mattea) is the cutest little baby in the whole wide world." When Sorvino announced in January that she was expecting her second child, she said, "I'm so excited that Mattea is going to have a sibling. We're going to be a family of four."

Sorvino, 38, and Backus, 24, married in June of 2004. They met at a friend's charades party the previous summer. "He walked into the kitchen looking for silverware. We saw each other and something made us want to talk to each other more," Sorvino told People of the couple's first encounter.

The pair got engaged within a month of meeting and had two weddings. The first was a private civil service at the Santa Barbara Courthouse, the second a hilltop ceremony in Italy's Capri, where guests feasted on pasta in lobster sauce and a three-tier chocolate sponge cake topped with Mira and Chris lookalike figures.

"Mira looked like a young girl in seventh heaven," one witness said of the Italian ceremony. Sorvino, who is the daughter of actor Paul Sorvino, won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Woody Allen's 1995 film, "Mighty Aphrodite."
