It seems like a disadvantage either way, so they should get rewarded. The ex's because they will not be able to get along, and the couple because if they're discovered they become targets. After all, last season, the estranged father/daughter team of Dick & Daniele wound up joining forces to win and the sparks will be interesting to the audience. Current Couple? More money? Yes. We don't know at this point, but they possibly might be getting input from the audience on tasks to perform similar to what they did in BB8 with America's Player.
