  1. 'I Do' for Demi and Ashton? Are Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore ready to "sew the two soul-halves together, creating one new whole soul"? What, you're not up on your Kabbalah-speak? We're trying to tell you the May-September lovebirds may be looking to make things legal. As the great Demi uterus watch of 2005 rages on, insiders blab to People that Dashmi ordered wedding rings last month from swanky celebrity jeweler Neil Lane. While there's no official word from the couple's reps or the usually chatty Lane, a mole insists to the mag, "The wedding is being planned." Of course, these same aisle-walk rumors circulated this time last year, with one report claiming that Ashton, 27, and Demi, 42, had said "I do" during a Kabbalah retreat in Florida. But that was before the baby talk, which is growing louder thanks to some loose-lipped insiders. Moore "is definitely pregnant. She's about two months," one confidante blabs to People. Another adds that the mom of three is understandably concerned about over-sharing at such an early stage. The actress' rep, meanwhile, is sticking with his original statement, which is equal parts cryptic and enlightening: "Having another child is something Demi would like to do, but she cannot at this time [emphasis ours] say she is pregnant." Kutcher has also deflected the pregnancy whispers, using his patented "Punk'd" wit to dodge prying questions. "Why am I the last person to find out everything? I'm going to be a daddy? God, no one tells me anything," he joked at a press conference for "Guess Who." In an interview with David Letterman, he dismissed the rumors, quipping, "I mean, we had sex this week, so it could be ... If she is, I gotta go find some guy and kick his ass." The dewy doofus may be coy about becoming a daddy, but he's open about making his sweetheart of nearly two years his top priority. "Spending time with Demi would be my No. 1 passion ... " he told Brad Pitt in the April issue of Interview. That passion extends to putting in lots of quality time with her daughters -- Rumer, 16, Scout, 13, and Tallulah, 11 -- from her marriage to Bruce Willis. "They call me the MOD [My Other Dad], but I would say I'm more like the MAD: My Assistant Dad," Kutcher told USA Today of the trio. "Bruce, frankly, doesn't need any help, because he's such a good dad for the girls. But they didn't know what to call me. It's not stepdad, and they didn't know what to tell other people who were asking." Kutcher has denied that a wedding is imminent ("The whole world knows what's going on with me before I do," he complained to the paper. "They've had us getting married eight times and still, I'm not. Nor am I in the process."), but if he and Demi do decide to get hitched, expect Willis to be on the guest list, though not, as some reports have claimed, as the officiate. The exes have set the standard for how to have a friendly Hollywood divorce, and Willis says he and Kutcher have become "great friends." "Ashton is a really great guy," the bald-pated actor recently told People, "and a really thoughtful, introspective guy who loves my kids as well." Time will tell whether that offspring affection will be mutual.

    Jennifer Aniston

Brad Tells Jen, Keep the House When Jennifer Aniston filed for divorce from Brad Pitt last week, it was clear she wanted her space. And she's apparently going to get it -- 12,000 square feet of it. People reports the actress will get custody of their palatial Beverly Hills mansion, which they spent two years -- and truckloads of cash -- renovating. Brad was said to be this close to selling the digs, which they paid $13.5 million for in 2001, but changed his mind when Jen expressed a desire to keep it. "He doesn't want to make her unhappy," says the mag. "He'll leave it off the market and in her hands." It's a wee bit surprising that Aniston has opted not to move on, especially given the memories the six-bedroom, French-Normandy-style abode holds. Not only is there the nursery (dubbed The Room) that the former golden couple built but never used, but the master bathroom features travertine marble Pitt imported -- with love -- from a Roman mine. "The bathroom was the first thing in the house I worked on at the time when Jen and I were really hooking up strong," he admitted to W in 2001. "Things are on your mind ... and I guess I had a dirty mind at the time." The home was also the site of Jennifer's star-studded 36th birthday party last month, tossed by her amicably estranged hubby. Still, there's plenty to recommend the place, including extensive private grounds, a screening room, wine cellar, tennis court, pool and gym. Aniston, says People, will soon have a little down time after back-to-back-to-back projects, and has rented a pad in Malibu near pal Courteney Cox, with whom she was recently spotted house-hunting. Pitt, meanwhile, reportedly has his eye on a summer rental further up the coast. The mag says the A-lister, who's been doing reshoots and publicity with Angelina "Don't Blame Me" Jolie for their upcoming spy thriller "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," may also be heading to South Africa and Ethiopia in the near future to do humanitarian work. No word on where Pitt will eventually put down roots (the soon-to-be ex-couple owns several other properties, including a Santa Barbara compound that has also undergone extensive renovations), but given his well-known love of architecture, expect his new bachelor pad to have history, elegance and a really big yard. "I feel a little closed off from the world," Pitt told Ashton Kutcher in the April issue of Interview. "I want to sit on my front lawn and watch traffic go by."

  4. Pope's Funeral Delays Royal Wedding By Sarah Hall Prince Charles has waited a long time to wed his true love, Camilla Parker Bowles. Now he'll have to wait one more day. The royal wedding has been postponed from Friday to Saturday, so as not to conflict with funeral services for Pope John Paul II, who died Saturday at age 84. "As a mark of respect, His Royal Highness and Mrs. Parker Bowles have decided to postpone their wedding until Saturday," said a spokeswoman at Clarence House in a statement. The prince will be the official representative of the British royal family at the funeral. Parker Bowles will not accompany him to Rome, Clarence House, the prince's office, said. Meanwhile, the prince's staff is apparently trying to keep things running as smoothly as possible for the next-day swapping of vows. "It is expected that the arrangements will be largely the same as previously planned and more details will be announced as soon as possible," the prince's spokesman said in a statement. Although the prince's office had hoped to simply delay the wedding by 24 hours, the Saturday service will have to be held in the morning instead of the afternoon as originally planned, because the town hall was already booked for three other weddings. The change in plans resolves conflicts for other British higher-ups, such as Prime Minister Tony Blair and Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, both of whom were expected to attend both the wedding and the funeral. On Monday, Charles cut his skiing vacation in Switzerland short and flew back to London so that he and Parker Bowles could attend a memorial for the pope at London's Westminister Cathedral. The added delay in the royal wedding plans is just the latest in a series of snags that have marred Charles and Parker Bowles' impending nuptials. His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, declines to attend the wedding; the location of the ceremony had to be switched from Windsor Castle to the much less snazzy local town hall in Windsor after a mix-up over marriage licenses; and constitutional experts even questioned the legality of a civil ceremony. All the pressure is apparently weighing on Charles. Last week, he made headlines after sensitive media microphones present during a photo shoot picked up muttered remarks about his distaste for the press.
  5. British Public Opinionated on Royal Titles By ROBERT BARR LONDON - Prince Charles' impending marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles has locked public opinion into a contradiction: people largely support the marriage but don't want her to be queen. That popular sentiment apparently pressed Charles to declare that if he is crowned, Parker Bowles will become princess consort. The British government says, however, that if Charles is king, she automatically becomes queen

  7. I just read this. She has struggled with alcoholism, gotten arrested several times for drunken driving, and gone through rehab repeatedly. On Monday, she found herself back in the public eye when a passer-by discovered the 68-year-old ex-wife of Sen. Edward Kennedy (news, bio, voting record) sprawled on a sidewalk on Boston's Beacon Street in the rain. She was hospitalized with a concussion and a broken shoulder. Exactly what happened to her is unclear. The Kennedys are not saying, and no police report was filed. The Kennedys dont seem to have much luck in life! Tragedy seems to follow them.

    Pope John Paul II

Vatican: Pope John Paul II Is Near Death By VICTOR L. SIMPSON, Associated Press Writer VATICAN CITY - Pope John Paul II was near death as dawn approached Saturday, his breathing shallow and his heart and kidneys failing, the Vatican said. Millions of faithful around the world paid homage, many weeping as they knelt with bowed heads, others carrying candles in prayer for the 84-year-old pontiff. The pope "is on the verge of death," Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan, head of the Vatican's health care office, told the Mexican television network Televisa. "I talked to the doctors and they told me there is no more hope." Addressing the crowd at St. Peter's Square, where as many as 70,000 people prayed and stood vigil in the chilly night, Angelo Comastri, the pope's vicar general for Vatican City, said "This evening or this night, Christ opens the door to the pope,"

Lauren Bacall Updates Autobiography By Bob Thomas, Associated Press Writer LOS ANGELES - Lauren Bacall sits in a secluded corner of the outdoor dining area of a tony Westside hotel for a twilight interview. She's near the end of a book promotion tour, which she found more strenuous than the movie tours of her Hollywood days, and she's in need of a little pick-me-up: "I'd like a pot of tea with a thermos of boiling water," she instructs a waiter. A longtime New Yorker, she has returned to her old stomping grounds

  12. Pope fighting new infection, Vatican confirms CTV.ca News Staff Pope John Paul II's fragile health has suffered another setback. He is now being treated for a high fever caused by a urinary tract infection. Reports of the Pope's deteriorating health trickled out of Rome earlier Thursday, prompting speculation he had taken a sudden and drastic turn for the worse. Shortly after Italian news agencies reported that a sudden drop in the pontiff's blood pressure had prompted doctors to intervene, the Vatican issued an unusually detailed briefing. "The Holy Father today was struck by a high-fever caused by a confirmed infection of the urinary tract," Vatican spokesperson Joaquin Navarro-Valls said. The condition was being treated with the "appropriate antibiotic therapy," he added. "The clinical situation is being closely watched by the Vatican medical team treating him." Indeed, the light at the nursing station outside the pope's apartment was reported still on well past the papal bedtime Thursday night. Overnight in Rome, Italian news reported the Pope's condition as stable and responding well to the antibiotic treatment. And in a report that fuelled contradictory speculation, ANSA said an emergency room chief at the Rome hospital where the Pope stayed twice last month said there were no immediate plans to admit him a third time. For some, the report suggests the Pope is healthy enough not to need hospitalization, while for others it suggests he may be too weak to move. Whatever the case, a crowd of hundreds had gathered to hold vigil beneath the Pope's apartment window overlooking St. Peter's Square. "There's nothing we can do but pray. We're all upset," Agriculture Minister Giovanni Alemanno told The Associated Press as he milled among the swelling crowd. The Vatican offered no comment Thursday on reports the ailing 84-year-old pontiff had been given the last rites, or holy sacrament reserved for the infirm. If true, this would not be the first time the Pope has been so anointed. In 1981, after a failed attempt on his life, he was also given the last rites. Recalling those days after the Pope was shot, veteran reporter Larry Stout said many were then saying he would never survive. "Well, he has lasted," Stout said. "And since that time he has probably circled the Earth at least once." Watching developments from Toronto, Father Thomas Lynch said that love of reaching out to the faithful is one of the Pope's defining characteristics. "In terms of sitting behind a desk, that was never his strong point. He delegated that to who he considered to be capable people and he went out to meet people." In the process, John Paul II kissed the ground in 129 countries, becoming in the process the most traveled, public pope in the history of the Church. The Pope has had to slow down considerably in recent months, however, as a series of medical setbacks have forced him to curtail his normally packed schedule. On Wednesday, the Vatican underscored the seriousness of his condition when it confirmed the Pope was being fed through a tube. Just hours after the pontiff made a brief silent appearance at his apartment window overlooking St. Peter's Square, Navarro-Valls said doctors had inserted a nasal-gastric feeding tube. It would boost the Pope's strength and aid his "slow and progressive" convalescence, the Vatican spokesperson told reporters. There are reports difficulty swallowing have contributed to the Pope -- who also suffers from Parkinson's disease as well as crippling knee and hip ailments -- losing 19 kilograms since undergoing a tracheotomy to ease his breathing on Feb. 24. That was the second time he was admitted to Rome's Gemelli hospital in a month. Throughout his recovery, the Pope has made repeated efforts to maintain at least part of his public schedule. Last week, for the first time in his 26-year papacy, the frail pope scaled down Holy Week appearances because of his ailments. He tried, but failed Sunday to give a blessing to the crowd gathered for Easter Sunday Mass. The last time he spoke to the public was March 13, shortly before he was discharged from hospital for the second time.

  14. Prince Charles Calls Media 'Bloody People' KLOSTERS, Switzerland (Reuters) - For a man about to marry the love of his life, Britain's Prince Charles sounded distinctly grumpy on Thursday in the elegant Swiss ski resort of Klosters. Mumbling under his breath at a photocall with sons William and Harry, the heir to the throne was caught on the assembled microphones saying: "I hate doing this." Confronted by a phalanx of reporters and photographers, he whispered "Bloody people!" The royal party traditionally offers a carefully stage-managed photocall on the slopes in return for being left alone when they go skiing in Klosters every spring. This year, however, the unwritten agreement has already broken down, with paparazzi snapping William together with his girlfriend Kate Middleton. Charles's marriage next week to his longtime lover Camilla Parker Bowles has been dogged by setbacks. The venue had to be switched from Windsor Castle to the local town hall in a mix-up over marriage licenses, Queen Elizabeth refused to attend her son's wedding and constitutional experts are even questioning the legality of a civil ceremony.

  23. CBS Begins Casting on 'Big Brother 6' LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Do you love exhibitionism, enclosed spaces and Julie Chen? Do you hate the idea of eating cow testicles but figure you could live on peanut butter for weeks at a time? Do you have a job that would allow you to take an entire summer off? Do you enjoy staging televised fights over hygiene, sexual orientation or race? And, most importantly, will you hook up with a stranger in a hot tub? If so, CBS has got your summer vacation all planned out, launching a nationwide casting call for "Big Brother 6." Complete instructions for the application process are available on CBS' website and applications are due by Friday, April 8. If you turn in a properly quirky two-minute videotape along with two fetching color photos, you may get to be one of the strangers locked in a house on the CBS backlot and forced to vote each other out in quest of a half-million dollar prize. Viewers who loved such past twists as the Ex-Factor and last summer's silly twin thing, can get ready for even more surprises. "'Big Brother 6' has some big surprises that will soon be revealed," says Executive Producer Arnold Shapiro. "Our goal this summer is to assemble the most colorful, competitive, and charismatic houseguests we've ever had. Right now, we're seeking the most memorable and exciting competitors we can find." While it launched in the shadow of "Survivor," "Big Brother" has become a consistent ratings winner for CBS in the lean summer months. Airing three times a week, "Big Brother" episodes averaged as much as 9.1 million viewers per week. "Coming up with the best House Guests and the most surprising twists are the most challenging-yet-rewarding parts of producing 'Big Brother,'" notes executive producer Allison Grodner. "This summer we look forward to delivering a terrific cast and surprising new twists." Not long to go...... 105 days! see... down there.... LQQK! 1
