hanklee
Over the history of the Big Brother Australia series, the house always undergoes changes from year to year. But if you have been a close observer, you will have noticed that the changes have followed a pattern. The original houseplan carried over into the second season pretty closely. In season three, they had two houses up until day 23/24 which were side-by-side. And then they removed the dividing wall and you had one big house with a pool running down the center of the backyard. This floorplan was still there along with the pool and a seperated kitchen at the other end for season 4. (This was the largest pool in the history of the house) Season 5 moved the pool and made it smaller next to the house and introduced the games arena across the backyard along with the animal enclosure. The basic floorplan of the house was different but in the same area as the previous houses with the kitchen back combined with the house. Season 6 kept the same pool, games arena (now with a roof) and the animal enclosure. The floorplan of the house had some cosmetic changes but still in the same place. The gym is now where the store was in season 5. The hot tub is where the gym was and the store and dinning room is where the hot tub and bathroom was. But the house was still basicly the same as season 5. But the two year floor plan idea held true. Everything changes every two years! Now we have a new year - 2007. If we hold true to the past history, the pool should move and we should have some major changes!! What willl stay the same? well the roof on the FNG arena cost a pretty penny so the games arena should stay where it was. BUT, if you watched last year, there was an extension area across from the entrance where the ninjas brought out stuff for the games which was also under the roof! Could the games arena be bigger this year? From some information posted on the other sites, we know that as you walked down to the house to take the tour after the season closed last year, they were clearing the area to the left behind the animal arena and next to where they had the "Tower of Terror" drop during the "Cash Fight". Maybe they are going to expand the house. If you look at an overhead shot of the area, there is a large area (over 100x150 meters) just to the west of the house which is the same elevation as the house which is vacent which could be easily used for expansion. There have been reports of bulldozers being used in the area. We are now only two weeks away from the start of Big Brother 2007! I can't wait!!!! hanklee
Oh, and on the lighter side, there is the small matter of the extra $538,000 that BB saved on the prize money last year that he could spend!! Hank :ninja: :ninja:

DreamAngel
Do they start leaking pictures of the new house each year or do we have to wait until the launch to see any peeks?
hanklee
There should be some teasers on the site when it comes up but the actual house tour photos won't be on the site until the day that the show starts. Hank :ninja: :ninja:
hanklee
This is a shot of the 2004 house overlaid with a graphic of last years house. The shaded area is the area where some clearing was taking place late last fall. I don't know how much of it was cleared. The little yellow star is where the "Tower of Terror" drop took place, just outside of the arena. So you see that all of this area is open for expansion and all belongs to Dreamworld. If the image was sharper, you could see that the white area on the road says Big Brother. This was the place where the cars dropped the housemates off during the opening night intro for season 01/02 and 03 and those green boxes to the left is where the stage was for the launch during those seasons. The eviction stage is just out of the shot down to the left across the bridge and up the hill. Hank :ninja: :ninja:
hanklee
One possible answer to the cleared area has been found on the "Behind Big Brother Australia" site. Here is a photo that "andrewm" took of the area late last fall. According to the information he received from someone at Dreamworld, this is to be used as overflow parking during the school break periods when Dreamworld gets a bit crowded. The photo was taken standing on the road just at the bottom edge of my graphic looking to the north west just about where the small red circle is. Looks like it matches thae area I outlined pretty closely!! Hank

hanklee
In an article on News.com.au this morning, Gretel Killeen, the hostess of Big Brother, says that costume designer Jane Johnston, who has previously worked on film and television commercials, will be the new woman in charge of Killeen's new wardrobe. Gretel has had many adverse comments about some of her more flamboyant outfits in the past so she hopes that her new assistant can improve her image so to say. In another tidbit revealed in the article, it is said that the initial installment of housemates will only total 12 instead of the 14 or 15 like the last two years. Well we know that at least one more housemate will be entering since they will be the selected
Camper
Not being able to watch the live show here in the USA last season was a real bummer. Is it (or parts of it) available on the net anywhere?
hanklee
During the season the shows are available on the newsfeeds or as Bit Torrents for download, but I don't know of anywhere that the shows are still available now. But I am ready to download them from the newsfeeds this year, you betcha!!! Already have NewsLecher ready!! Hank :ninja: :ninja:
DreamAngel
All seasons of BB Australia except Season 1 are still available. I've recently been watching them to kill time until the new season starts. They are on IRC. As for the shows from this year, they WILL be on bittorrent for sure. I'll make sure everyone has a link everyday if you would like to download it. Maybe since it's an international version I can upload to a hosting site like Youtube or Veoh. hanklee
OK, hold on to your socks people, this could be a very big change. From Sydney Confidential April 18, 2007 01:00am Article from: CONTESTANTS diving into the Big Brother fishbowl in hope of landing the million-dollar prize pool will be hit with a rude slap - and it's worse than a turkey. As the Channel 10 reality TV juggernaut prepares to launch its seventh season on Sunday night, the program's producers yesterday announced that, for the first time, there will not be a cash prize for this year's winner. In addition to throwing away the cash, there will not be any cars given to the housemates on their exit from the compound at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast. "We are launching series seven with no prize money for the winner," executive producer Tim Toni said yesterday. "It's simply to keep ahead of the game with the housemates." The selected contestants for the program flew to the Gold Coast yesterday and are now in lockdown, unaware of the tightened rules - and wallets - of the well-played reality game. Stripping the inmates of their inflated cash cow - the exact reason why many bother persevering through all those stifling weeks in the house - is not the only measure producers are taking to revive viewer interest and amp up the ratings of the fairly tired formula. In another "Australian first", viewers will be able to choose two additional housemates from a secondary group who will assemble next to the selected contestants during Sunday's season premiere. "It will enable viewers to control the game - it will be the biggest number of housemates ever assembled on stage," the spokesman said. Host Gretel Killeen must be shaking with excitement. NO MONEY?? Hmmmmm... Hank :ninja: :ninja:
Camper
Now THAT`S a twist! Certainly turns the penalty phase for breaking the rules upside down. Perhaps they will put up merchandise prizes for everyone to win, if they get through the week without breaking any rules. If someone breaks a rule, everyone loose that prize? Then they start over again trying to win something else?
DreamAngel
Perhaps instead of starting with the money and losing it via fines they have to EARN the money while in the house.
hanklee
OK, let's recap what we know... 1. No cash prize for the winner. 2. No cars for the exiting housemates. 3. There are solar panels on the house. 4. The housemates and the house will be putting both energy and water back into the Queensland utility system. 5. There is a "WHITE ROOM" in the house. 6. The "punishment room" does not look back in the house. 7. All "crimes" will be punished. If 1 and 7 are true, and BB can't fine them with money, then he will 'fine' them with a punishment which could relate to number 4. I.E. make them do some sort of work that either generates energy at a set monetary rate (pedal a generator) or pedal a pump which forces sea water or used water thru a "reverse osmosis" system at a set rate and then fed back into the utility system. "We are launching series seven with no prize money for the winner," At the end of the season, the winner receives all monies earned by the housemates from their efforts as the prize. Now the "white room" could be a clean room which houses the osmosis and generating equipment. BB's eco-commitment will seep deep into the walls, floors and even the oxygen. The House has been modified for optimum recyclability, minimum environmental impact and maximum entertainment for those who are watching. This year Housemates will actually be helping the outside world from inside the House, not only by conserving, but by generating energy AND water. 8. 12 housemates will enter the house on Launch Night. 9. The public will have the opportunity to choose 2 additional housemates from a secondary group. 10. The Starburst winner will enter the house sometime after the 4th of May. 11. The assembled housemates will be the biggest number of housemates ever assembled on stage. If 8 is true, and 11 is also true, then the total has to be greater than the highest number of housemates ever on stage at one time to date. This number was 21 during the finale of season 2006. So the secondary group must contain at least 10 potential housemates (21+1-12=10). Since the Starburst winner will not even be chosen until after the 4th of May he/she will not be on stage during the launch. This year the Housemates won't know they've been chosen as Housemates until they actually step foot into the House. The people on the stage won't know which group they are in until they actually enter the house. So the number in each group may actually be 12. Two identical groups, but only one group will actually enter the house. Which is which? This could turn into a very interesting season!!
