While I respect those who join the military to serve their country, based on his interview with Ryan and Rachel (and his anti-Islamic bigotry), I think its pretty clear that Caleb joined up because he wanted to kill some Muslims -- and was disappointed when he wasn't assigned to some "cool convoy ops kind of stuff". Instead, he "didn't like his assignment 'cause I was working with these people face-to-face". In other words, Caleb thought that war was like a video game where he would be able to shed lots of blood doing "cool ops", and wound up whining about his deployment because he was required to treat Muslims like human beings. IMHO, that is not service worthy of respect. Indeed, Caleb comes off as precisely the kind of person for whom the phrase "Ugly American" was coined. I predict that 1) caleb moves to Los Angeles after BB 2) he comes out of the closet within a year after moving to LA 3) he is arrested on a domestic violence complaint two years later Basically, the Drew Daniel arc.

What bothers me is that without feeds, its hard to tell how accurate our impressions are. Is Paolo really that much of an ass? Is Amber really jealous of Joey because of Devin? Is Nicole really that clueless? (I'd say not, given that she's actually a real BB fan.) Is Frankie really that annoying? Based upon last night's editing, I'd say that Paolo and Nicole are going to be Frankie's two nominees -- and if TeamFrankie loses Battle of the Block, Paolo goes home. (Paolo is practically a lock for a Frankie nomination, cause Frankie is afraid she'll figure out who he is.)

I think it will start off subtle (Caleb targetting Jocasta, Amber and Devin, for example), but that Caleb and Joey will get into politics big time, and caleb will use some "code" words -- and THAT is going to be a problem...

all of us are different people depending on the situation we find ourselves in. I think that in Caleb's case, the difference is pretty extreme. Its difficult to reconcile the Caleb that you describe with the sadist we see on the wild pig video, or the guy who describes himself as someone who has been "fighting my whole life for no reason" in the Rachel and Ryan interview. The dynamic is practically freudian -- there is an "id" Caleb who likes to fight and kill and is a bigot, an "ego" Caleb that is rather full of himself and always seeking attention, and a "superego" Caleb who is nice to everyone and super social. The problem that I have is that Caleb is gonna be in that house for months, and while he's gonna try and play the game as "superego" Caleb, "id" Caleb is going to take over when he feels threatened and/or stressed, and "id" Caleb will play a significant role in the choices he makes even when he's playing "superego" Caleb on the outside.

paul... please explain to us how "Muslim monkey" in reference to Obama was taken out of context. Explain how his use of the word "monkey" isn't racist. Explain how his use of the word "Muslim" in a derogatory manner doesn't signify religious bigotry. Explain how his use of the word "fag" wasn't homophobic. What your son wrote is indefensible, IMHO. For you to come on this board and claim that Caleb is being taken out of context without addressing the elephant (or wild pig beaten with a stick) in the room is intellectually dishonest and morally reprehensible. And you are supposed to be some kind of preacher? You raised a son who is a hateful bigot --- and you need to acknowledge and atone for that, if not publicly, at least with your god.
