  1. Slimcruz, thanks for the discussion and the education about the game over the last few days. I believe I learned this show isn't for me; it's just too toxic & contrived to me. Regardless, thanks for being open along to way.
  2. I think you hit upon something in your comment "I do not like Shelly as a player or a person per how she has been portrayed on TV." For you, you are enjoying the show and finding an enjoyable way to root for or against someone as you enjoy the show. However, there are obviously too many people that take the portrayal personally and then bring this into real life.
  3. I think it's more a debate about what Shelly perceived to be the best move for her. I think she perceived there was no way that Jeff would ever have been defeated so therefore she never would have been in a F2 with Jordan (which based upon how the stronger players were playing was actually a fairly strong possibility) and she actually believed she could beat the folks on the other side (although she would actually be trading being led by Daniele). Sitting back, I really don't think she stood a snowballs chance in any scenario and should have stuck to the role as house mommy for her sanity.
  4. I can see what you're saying but I also think that a show is a bit like the Stanford Prison Experiment where you can act away on the show but under normal community/family/social structures you won't behave in the same manner.
  5. I use the term "characters" because I don't for a second believe what you see on TV is what you would see in real life. (1) the participants craft a persona for the show, (2) it's hard for people not to change the behavior when they know they are on TV, (3) the nature of the game itself alters the percetions of the people participating and (4) I 100% believe that BB manipulates these people. I think a perfect example of this is the Rachel/Regan relationship. They spewed some pretty hateful stuff at one another but once they enter real life, they become close friends.
  6. This probably the most perceptive things I've seen posted on here. I think a lot of the pro/con comments are generated based on some rather intense feelings people are developing for what are essentially television characters.
  7. Interesting take. I always looked at her as being a nutbar. I'll be curious to see what see says during the interview when she's tossed out + finale.
  8. Do you really think her crying is fake? I kind of assumed that if she was that good at faking crying she would have made better decisions all along.
  9. That's an interesting take for me. I guess I prefer more of a "game" rather than personalities (although you can't completely disregard it) and I wonder how much CBS/BB affect (script) what we see. As for Shelly, if you like the personality v. personality would her absence affect your enjoyment (it's hard to have a saint without a devil)?
  10. Well, she created a character that was hard to like. I don't know if there has ever been anyone quite like her before (I don't have as much experience with the show as most people here). I couldn't understand how she was so far up Jordan's butt like a stalker and how intense she would discuss her "alliance." Also her reaction to Rachel was so extreme and it was all based on her inability to remember that she had asked Rachel/Brendon to be in a Final 3. Most of the players who float/stink at competitions aren't so forceful. She kind of ruins the show.
  11. There's been some hateful things on here and there was a post earlier about people doing/threatening to do things to her in real life. I wonder how "tough as nails" she really is in real life. It may be a front her mental skin may not quite be as thick as it her physical skin is.
  12. I hope so. I think she's going to have a lot of issues she's going to have to deal with on her own.
  13. There's a difference between honest opinions on a forum and reactions to people in real life which is the context of the the entire discussion. If you want to hate the Shelly character go for it; she's given everyone plenty of ammunition.
  14. I have no problem with people hating or rooting for a character. I also don't think there's anything wrong with posting hyperbole or making fun of them on a forum/message board since they made themselves a public figure. However, to go after someone in real life once the character has left the show and has to deal with being a real person is pretty scary and downright unfair.
  15. I guess I'm a little biased as well. By getting rid of Shelly, the show returns to being more of a game rather than some perverted, contrived soap opera (Real Housewives of Big Brother?). Plus, even if Adam got to the Final 3, it's pretty clear that he would have been dragged along and won't get many votes to win.
