morty
The clock will start ticking again on Fox's real-time thriller 24.The network on Monday confirmed plans to restart the action thriller, which starred Kiefer Sutherland as counter-terrorist agent Jack Bauer and ended its eight-season run in 2010.The new season, one of two "limited series" Fox plans for 2014, will be compressed into 12 weeks and premiere next May, says Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly. "We'll go in chronological order with the hours of the day, but we'll skip some hours," he says.Producer Howard Gordon, now working on Homeland and other series, "always had the idea of maybe someday doing a feature film" on the series, Reilly says. A script underwent several revisions but never got the greenlight by Fox's sibling movie studio. "But 24 being compressed into two hours is not 24," Reilly says. When Fox announced plans for event miniseries, Gordon quickly expressed interest, and figured a half-season was enough. "The spine of 24 episodes was really about 12 hours," Reilly says, with the rest made up of "little twists and connective tissue."The show is designed as a stand-alone, one-time event but potentially could come back for more. "The outpouring of love we've heard since we announced this has been unbelievable."
Fuskie
I wonder if that means Kiefer's Touch isn't getting renewed. Or is he going to try to do both?FuskieWho never really thought the movie was practical and figures they can pack 2 hours into a single hour episode just by taking into account realistic travel time across LA and letting Jack get something to eat and go to the bathroom... Fuskie
So obviously we know Touch was canceled. And Fox has been cleverly sneaking promotions for the new 24: Live Another Day series into the Super Bowl broadcast. Among the things I've gleaned are that it will take place in Great Britain, premiers on May 5th, and CHLOE IS BACK!!!!!Live Another Day is the closest comparison between 24 and the Die Hard series, with John McClain being another guy who just has one bad day after another.FuskieWho is starting his own countdown to Jack Bauer having another very bad day...
