There's going to be more of the class struggle this year, including a specific event in the season premiere that exacerbates the conflict. Source: Kristin on E!Online

Episode 2.11: Donut Run

Airdate: January 25, 2006

  • 01/21 - Rob Thomas reveals:[Highlight if you want to be that spoiled... "Throughout the episode Veronica is actually helping Duncan and Duncan is gone at the end of the episode." "It's not an act that they're not [together at the end of the episode, for logistical reasons]. The [public] breakup is the act. He's leaving at the end of the episode, so they are de facto broken up at the end of the episode. But they have a very public breakup in front of everyone, which is sort of used to defuse suspicion away from Veronica when the crime actually takes place." After Duncan leaves town, is he on the lam for a while? "Yes." "[Kendall] is in [the episode] briefly, but it's part of the setup [of Duncan and Veronica's staged breakup]. Veronica enters Duncan's hotel suite and finds Kendall. Duncan is gone but Kendall's in the shower. It's one of the things that spurs this very public breakup. But it's more for show, so that the news of it sweeps the school. But I think it plays into the audience fears of what's going on between Duncan and Kendall." "He leaves because he has to get away with this baby, and one of the final things that Veronica says to him is, 'We can't write, we can't call, we can't e-mail, we cannot see each other again after you leave here.' Which is more a practical matter than either of them wanting to be out of that relationship."] "[Logan] and Weevil have started working together, they both have a motivation to figure out who really did kill Felix [suspicion of that crime that still hangs over Logan]. It's sort of phase one of them working together in that episode." "[Lamb]'s certainly trying to cozy up to [the character played by Lucy Lawless], but she's having very little of it." Source: Chicago Tribune
  • 01/11 - An FBI team, headed up by tough, seasoned Agent Morris (guest star Lucy Lawless), is called in to pursue [Highlight if you want to be that spoiled...Duncan after he breaks up with Veronica and flees with Meg's baby]. Meanwhile, Wallace reveals the tragic reason why he returned to Neptune . Later, Logan asks his buddy Dick to help in a scheme to weed out which one of Weevil's P.C.H. Biker Boyz framed him for murder. Charisma Carpenter guest stars as Kendall Casablancas and Lisa Thornhill returns as Celeste Kane. Source: UPN
Episode 2.12: Rashad and Wallace Go to White Castle

Also, Keith swipes interview tapes regarding the bus crash from the sheriff's office and discovers some surprising information, and Weevil gets Veronica to bug a confessional booth in an effort to learn which gang member is dealing drugs with the Fitzpatrick clan. Source: UPN

Episode 2.15: The Quick and the Wed

Airdate: February 2006

  • 01/21 - Rob Thomas reveals: "Wallace starts going out with this girl occasionally. I don't want to say too much on this front [pause]. To say 'a girlfriend' is too much of a stretch, but a girl that Wallace has gone on a couple dates with." Is it Jackie? "No. This girl's older sister's getting married and stop one on a bachelorette scavenger hunt is to sing karaoke, some vaguely dirty karaoke song, at Java the Hut. So Veronica sees them and they're clearly partying pretty hard. And then the girl comes to Veronica the next day and says, 'My sister has disappeared.' The question is, is this a runaway bride situation, or has there been foul play? Veronica dives into that." Source: Chicago Tribune
  • 01/19 - "The rumors were true," the email from executive producer Rob Thomas began. "You were in our script. We were going to shoot an E! True Hollywood Story -style segment about Aaron Echolls, and we had written you in as the interviewer of both Aaron and Keith Carradine (who would've been playing Aaron in the TV movie about Aaron)." If you picked up on the verb tense "were," you'll understand why this was the best and worst email this diehard Veronica Mars fan ever received. For reasons we can't really talk about (and I promise, it's really nothing scandalous), the entire THS -esque storyline had to be cut from this upcoming episode of Veronica Mars. Source: Kristin on E!Online
  • 01/18 - Well, given the speed with which news travels in this town, you may have already heard that late last week I got confirmation that my much-hyped-by-me Mars guest appearance is a definite go. And the best part? I have an actual role, not some measly extra thing. Here's the sitch: From what I understand, Veronica will be throwing a bachelorette party for a friend and I will be one of the few men in attendance. And something happens at the party between Veronica and myself that is so snot-shootingly funny I have to hold off on telling you for fear that I'll jinx it. Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide
  • 01/11 - As reported on Monday, exec producer Rob Thomas informed me over the weekend that he's "$100,000 over budget on that episode and we're losing the role." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide [Note: This may mean that the scene where Kristin Veitch was set to interview a cast member from the Aaron Echolls movie may be removed from episode 2.15. or maybe they'll have an unknown actor play him...]
Episode 2.16: The Rapes of Graff

Airdate: Winter 2006

  • 01/21 - Rob Thomas reveals: "Veronica goes on a college visit and she meets [the characters played by Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat]. The two of them aren't actually in the same scenes, because they did ask that they not play cousins or cousins in love, so they're not playing characters like that. There's one party scene that they're both in, but they don't interact."Michael will play a freshman in college showing prospective freshmen around, and Alia, if I told you what she played, it would really be giving away the mystery." Source: Chicago Tribune
  • 01/19 - [Rob] Thomas revealed that he has cast not one but two cast members from Fox's critically acclaimed series [Arrested Development] to guest-star in an upcoming episode of the show's current season. "This is huge, and I think this is the first time I'm saying it to the press," Thomas says. "We booked Maeby and George Michael for episode 16 this year. They are amazing." That's right. Michael Cera and Alia Shawkat, who play Arrested 's kissing cousins Maeby Funke and George Michael Bluth, will be making a visit to Neptune in the near future. Thomas, a fan of the series ("I adore it," he says), pursued the actors himself and convinced them to come on under the condition that they'd be given a chance to depart from their more familiar characters. "They do not play cousins," Thomas says. "It was one of things I said to them. I said, 'Do you mind being in the same episode together?" And they said no, they just didn't want to play those characters. We didn't have that intention anyway. The interesting thing, of course, is those two actors are both 16 and we're playing them as 19-year-old college freshmen, whereas all of our actors are early 20s playing 18. But we think we'll get by with it." Source: Now Playing Magazine
  • 01/19 - Dick wants to party like crazy all weekend with Logan. Veronica and Wallace, amongst others, visit Hearst College. During a party, a guy named Drew flirts with Veronica. Troy Vandegraff, who supposedly has changed, comes to Veronica's rescue. Veronica will investigate a rape case that took place on campus. Brenda Calhoun, the professor that appeared in episode 10, is back. Hannah finds out why Logan really wanted to go out with her. Keith and Cliff question a woman named Sugar about a briefcase. Source: SpoilerFix.com

General Season 2 spoilers:

01/21 - Rob Thomas reveals: "You will see Aaron Echolls a few more times and I will say that we will cut into his trial." "We're breaking the final five [episodes] right now, and the bus crash becomes what most of it is about. The clues start coming faster in the final episodes. We try to do one element of the bus crash story in every episode, but the clues will be meatier the closer we get to the end." Source: Chicago Tribune

No word on whether Daniel is playing himself or a character, but he will be in Neptune, the fictional wealthy town that's home to the titular private detective/high school student, singing a karaoke version of "one of his all-time favorite songs." Given the show's title and Spoon's influences, reports that the song is Elvis Costello's "Veronica" seem believable. Source: CMJ

He's a pivotal character who finds himself pulled into a bachelorette party being thrown for the sister of Wallace's new girlfriend, Jane (Valorie Curry), at Java the Hut. I initially thought Veronica was the one throwing the party, but she just happens to be working at Java that day. Still, Kristen Bell was in the scene. Your Veronica Mars Questions Answered!

060201insider1.jpg

Why didn't 'Ron press the Kendall issue?

Last week's "Donut Run" episode of Veronica Mars (Wednesdays at 9 pm/ET, UPN) seemingly wrapped up Duncan's story line but only left fans hungry for more. How will Logan react to the disappearance of his best friend? What was up with those very familiar numbers on Veronica's fortune cookie? Mars creator Rob Thomas, who directed the episode, provides the answers to these and other burning questions from TVGuide.com readers, in this exclusive Q&A.

Question: In "Donut Run," Duncan fled the country with his baby, seemingly never to return. Was there any kind of closure on the Duncan-Logan friendship? Will we see any kind of reaction from Logan to his longtime best friend's departure, apparently without any kind of goodbye?
