Season 1 - 'Desperate Housewives' Spoilers Discussion

Recommended Posts

I copied this from another forum......

On April 27th... along with Desperate Housewives(airing the night of their finale).

ABC has found a way to squeeze a little more life out of frosh blockbusters "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives"-- and possibly expand their already sizeable fan base to boot.

ABC has greenlit separate one-hour specials tied to both series, with the network's marketing and current programming departments overseeing production of both. But rather than serving up simple clipfests catering to current viewers, ABC is designing the specials to serve as introductory guides to the serialized shows.

"There can be a reluctance on the part of the audience to invest in these kinds of shows," said ABC current department toppertopper Lance Taylor. "What we're trying to do is keep those tent doors open and invite as many people in as possible to enjoy the last part of the season."

Added ABC marketing chief Mike Benson, "We want to do everything we can to make sure these series finish the season in the biggest way possible."

The "Lost" hour, set to air April 27 in the show's normal Wednesday 8pm timeslot, will be of particular interest to current fans of the show. That's because the special will take the bits and pieces of information the show has doled out about six main characters over the last six months -- and retell their stories in a linear fashion.

"You get to see how these characters are all interwoven and just how deep this show is," Benson said.

The special -- from Metropolitan/ Hodder Group -- will focus on the characters of Jack, Kate, Locke, Sawyer, Charlie and Sayid. "What we did was break it down to a core of characters that seem to cross back and forth between everyone's lives," Taylor said, adding that there'll also be a segment on the island itself.

Taylor credits "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof for the idea of telling the stories in a linear fashion.

As for "DH," special will "look very much like an episode" of the show, Taylor said.

"Mary Alice (the show's narrator) will be our guide, and she'll take us through the show," he added. Focus will be on the four main housewives.

The "DH" hour -- from Lynne Lussier Prods.-- will air in the hour preceding the show's season finale. ABC has not yet announced scheduling for the finale.

Benson said ABC is already talking with its sister companies about other uses for these specials, such as including them on DVD releases of the shows.

Love 'Desperate Housewives'?

Don't feel guilty about your TV pleasures

IF YOU WANT to get "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry angry, just call his series a guilty pleasure. Fans know that Cherry ("Golden Girls") couldn't get hired in Hollywood after a string of failures. So he decided to study all of his favorite TV series to discover why they worked.

He spent hours honing his storytelling skills, and paying close attention to both style and substance. "I worked hard. I studied. I was determined to create a great show," Cherry said during an interview earlier this year. "Then when people call it a guilty pleasure, it puts this show in a category of reality shows and soap operas where it doesn't belong."

Of course, whatever you call it, "Desperate Housewives" is making TV ratings history for drawing in viewers and reaping critical praise. It's been a long time since we've seen an original episode and we're getting restless, but relief is in sight. The plan is to begin new episodes next Sunday.

Next week, Bree's husband Rex (Steven Culp) becomes a pariah around the neighborhood when Maisey (Sharon Lawrence) is arrested and her little black book is seized and revealed. And poor Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is once again losing the mother of the year title when it is revealed that her children have lice.

The series is expected to head for the May finish line without a repeat in the lineup. "Don't worry," Cherry promised. "We'll wrap up the murder mystery and you'll know who Mike Delfino really is by the end of the season." Cherry says, however, that ABC liked the mystery element of the show so much, there will be another puzzler for next season.

So with "DH" finishing its reruns tonight, CBS hopes you'll turn to "Spring Break Shark Attack" at 9 tonight on CBS.

I heard through the grape vine that Lynette's husband has another family.

I just read this on a spoiler site' date=' so seems like everyone is thinking he has another family.......

"What is Tom's secret on Desperate Housewives. Is it that he has a complete other family?"[/b']

We don't have the official answer, however, our huntch, and some other sources agree with us, is that Tom does have another family elsewhere.

This is more like spec. but i didnt know where to post :?

Is Zach Dedra's son?

Remember Felicia(Mrs.Huber's sister) said that the baby the youngs had stolen was mothered by a drug addict. Last sunday Kendra said her sister Dedra had been a drug addict. Maybe Dedra went to look for her kid and the youngs killed her.
