Matt - Week 2 - Replacement Nominee

I don't really care that Matt told this lie. It just reveals what lengths he'll go to to win the game and shows us HIS character, however, I would never tell a lie like that for any amount of money. Tempting fate, imo. I'm just not that brave.

I agree.

My take is why even put something awful like that out there in the universe, you know?

I agree!

Plus until someone mentioned it here I didn't think about it but I bet it's going to come back to bite him eventually. Andrew can easily call him out on it at some point in the game. Especially if Andrew leaves and he mentions it on his way out. At that point it won't matter that Andrew didn't mention he was a doctor. I know people say you lie in this game BUT it doesn't mean that the others can't go after him if they find out about it. I know I would if I was in the house and found out about it. So it's a two way street. Lies can help you and lies can destroy your game. I just wouldn't put something out there like that to possibly mess up my game. Especially since most won't even care if he has a sick wife. Doesn't mean their going to let him win BB because of it. So why take a chance like that.

Matt made it very clear in the DR that his wife does not have the condition. Heck, she probably knew he was going to tell this lie and is fully backing it for all we know!

How is this really any worse than Andrew claiming to be a shoe salesman or Brendan pretending (before he was called out) to be just a swim coach for sympathy? They are all lies. You have to lie in this game! It's a strategy!

Except Brendon is a swim coach.

Hell it could be used against him as a reason to evict him. People have to thank they cant win against someone who has the sympathy vote

I do like that idea.

I like any idea that has "evil genius" Matt's plans backfire on his bragging ass.

I really want him gone just on principle now. He's an obnoxious douche.

I also think he would be the first to betrat his alliance since he's proven he'll stoop to new lows to win.

Yep, DOC knows he is lying and he will use that I think . MATT pissed off Kathy and I think the odds are beginning to sway and MATT could be going home . DAMN I would LMFAO :animated_rotfl:

I agree on this too. Matt must not have thought this out for very long. There are several ways for it to back fire on him. Then he's back at home with his sweet and healthy wife.

I think Matt lying about his wife having cancer is just WRONG and it crosses the BBLL (Big Brother Lying Line).

I guess I look at it from the standpoint of people who have a relative or close friend who actually does have cancer or a rare disease...how would you feel about listening to this jerk when you were struggling to pay or find the resources for the medical, or watching your loved ones die???

Matt will probably really play it up now that he knows Kathy is a cancer survivor and Brendon intends on doing cancer research. I'm sure that's why he brought it up in the first place.

I wonder if it was Matt or Big Brother who came up with the exoneration line of donating a share of the winnings to cancer research. If he wins anything (which I sincerely hope he does not) BB should take that chunk right out of his check and not give him a chance to back-peddle on it.

Not that I'm sticking up for Matt....... the lie is disgusting and I hope it blows up in his face and goes home but, I don't think he ever said she had cancer.... just some rare bone disease that surgery would fix right up, if he could just win the money

He might as well have. I'm sure there are some poor cancer patients watching him, going, " :animated_shocking::shocked2::furious3:" Then some of them might even refuse to watch BB after that. BB should not allow people like him on the show. They could lose some of their ratings. I'm not saying that all cancer patients would be that offended, but if I had cancer or had a relative with cancer - I know I would be on here saying all kinds of things about him probably far worse.

I still like Matt, yeah he lied, so has every other person that played BB... the lie, yes, is severe, but he made it abundantly clear that he will be donating money to the organization 'to find a cure' if he wins... The disease IS a real disease... so Dr. Andrew isn't quite up to date on his medical conditions as he claims....

My Mother had bone cancer (after her breast and kidney cancer metastasized) and it was very difficult watching her suffer thru that pain. That being said, Matt telling this lie doesn't bother me in the least. It just shows his character. I fear for him now. Stuff said like that usually comes back on you.

I do think Andrew will eventually use this to call him out though. At least I hope so.

I don't mind so much that he lied about his wife to the Hgs only because he was truthful in the DR about it being a lie. I'm glad production at least clued us in on that.

I do think it is a stupid lie though...aside from it getting negative reaction from viewers, he may very well get evicted because nobody will want to sit next to him at F2 because of the sympathy vote.

Matt's game just sucks. I'm sorry. He comes up with that lame ass illness and doesn't even tell the story in a way that he looked believable. You're a genius and not smart enough to really study up on an illness people could identify with. LAME.

I like him less and less at the game goes on. He so disappointing with all of his dumb ass moves.

You hit the nail right on the head!! Nobody in that house will want him to go with them to final two because they will be afraid of the sympathy vote IF he makes it that far which I seriously doubt at this point. You'd think a brainiac like him would figure that part out before making such a stupid move.

Not smart, dude.

Just morally, I hate the lie. I agree with all of you that it could and will backfire on him, either Andrew telling somebody or the sympathy thing. But, I would not lie about the health of someone I love.

LOL, I so agree with you Ely. If you're going to use that illness, at least be able to pronounce it correctly before you go into the house.

I thought Andrew said that if it were true, than he wasn't pronouncing the name of the disease correctly, which leads him to be suspicious about its existence.

As a firm believer in Karma, it just is a bad move to put something that negative on anyone you love. Do I believe his wife may suddenly become afflicted with said disease? Probley not, but dammit if he isn't inviting something dastardly to happen. Enough bad stuff happens to people without asking for more! geeeeeeesh And I agree, dumb plan, as Andrew & Kathy are already doubting the cancer story AND yes, no one will want him with them in F2. This guy is so smart he's dumb, apparently. I have a cousin like that. Smarter than I ever could dream to be, but is just as clueless too!! LOL

Yeah, Andrew said Matt might be saying it wrong, as he had never heard of that specific disease.
