Nick at Nite Request: "The Larry Sanders Show"

Recommended Posts

Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,

I have a proposal for Nick at Nite: to make a deal with Sony Pictures Television for Nick at Nite to become the exclusive basic cable home of the hit 1992-1998 sitcom "The Larry Sanders Show," which was created by Garry Shandling, who cast himself as Larry Sanders, the host of a fictional late-night talk show (also called "The Larry Sanders Show") broadcast on an unidentified major TV network.

Other characters included show producer Artie (played by Rip Torn); Larry's sidekick/announcer, Hank Kingsley (played by Jeffrey Tambor), and head writer Phil (played by Wallace Langham). Each episode was filled with special guest stars, appearing as themselves, ranging from Robert Hays to Catherine O'Hara and Shadoe Stevens to Ellen DeGeneres and Tim Allen.

A tentative launch date for Nick at Nite to launch "The Larry Sanders Show" is Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with a 5-night, week-long marathon titled "The Larry Sanders Show No Flipping" marathon, showcasing all 90 half-hour episodes (18 per night) of "The Larry Sanders Show" complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that they originally aired on the HBO Television Network--minus profanity, with broadcast euphemisms, e.g. "screw," "damn," & "crap" replacing the profane language. After the marathon, starting Sunday, August 8, 2010, Nick at Nite shall air "The Larry Sanders Show" regularly weeknights with back-to-back episodes starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT (encoring 6-7 a.m. ET/PT 7 nights a week), and Friday-Saturdays from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT, only on Nick at Nite.
