Biography

Crystal Cox (29)

Hometown: Durham, North Carolina

Occupation: Former Olympic Athlete

Crystal Cox, a 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist in track for the 4 X 400m Relay, is ready to tackle new challenges as a contestant on this season of SURVIVOR. As a single mother and athlete, she is the sole provider for her family and calls herself "the glue that holds the home together."

As a child, Cox's family frequently moved, forcing her to adapt. The only girl in a home with four brothers, Crystal held her own physically and became mentally tough as a result.

Now this is gonna get interesting! I wonder if she'll keep the Olympic athlete thing a secret because it seems like that would be perceived as a BIG threat, at least to the other women.

LOOK at her. I don't think her athletic abilities will be too secretive.

The 400m is not really about endurance. She really does look like she could kick my old butt, but I'm not sure of her balance or strength abilities. So she can run! Can she swim? I'm going to wait to see how this girl can do!

Oh Yeah! She better keep the olympic connection secret or she'll be gone for sure!

Who writes this stuff? Were her brothers putting her in a maze and wrestling her?

Personally, I think she wants to be like her brothers...in all aspects.

Don't like her.

True, Erin. And I guess I forgot that starting...what 2 seasons ago? the tribes starting shooting themselves in the foot by voting out the stronger players, so that may happen with her. But, if they play in the old style, ie stay strong til the merge then attack the other tribe then turn on eachother, she has it locked up. Just depends on the gameplay this year.

I was shocked by her inability to get up that hill. You don't need to still be in Olympic form to beat out some everyday folk, you'd think. I thought she must be playing weak so that she's not a target, but I don't think that was it.

And picking someone who looks pretty weak as an early choice for your team because she is a fellow "mama" ... Huh???
