georgectv Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I did not say I wouldn't watch... however... BB8 and 9 have soured me on the entire experience... I've gone from not knowing about the show during BB1/2/3(we were traveling during the summer), to finding the show during BB4(I got the live feeds the first night there was an endurance comp), to having the feeds for seasons 5/6/7(and becoming a regular live feed poster here at Mortys!), to enduring BB8 and the direction the show continued to go(I trace the over the top verbal assults as a game strategy back to Howie in BB6, and it's only gotten worse, call it game play if you like and cheer it on, but I don't feel it helps the overall experience of viewing the HGs), to not getting the feeds for BB9 and wondering if I'd miss them. I still checked in regularly on the feed updates. But when the feeds stopped showing the food comps live, I realized the only thing I really got from having the feeds was seeing the endurance comps. Last season I became apathetic about the feeds, and I only today happened to think about the show starting up again and decided to come check the message board. A part of me wishes I cared more about BB10 starting, but a part of me is still apathetic...
Moose Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 to enduring BB8 and the direction the show continued to go(I trace the over the top verbal assults as a game strategy back to Howie in BB6, and it's only gotten worse, call it game play if you like and cheer it on, but I don't feel it helps the overall experience of viewing the HGs), You are right. I take it back that Season 6 was as great as I had said it to be, although it was memorable with most of the HGs. Thanks for the trace. That was about the dog and the boobs, wasn't it? Yes, I believe the HGs want to call it game play, but I call it bullying--same end to their means. As we've seen, it can be played without all the garbage, and played entertainingly as we've already seen in 1 through 5. Perhaps now that this show is demeaning the HGs, quite vulgar talking, verbal assaults, spitting, and slutty lewd actions, it needs Jerry Springer, and I STILL won't watch. Talk about dumbing down America, including school kids. . . . .
GingerSnaps Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I kind of forgot about Howie's verbal assaults (but I do remember his dumbest move in BB history BB7). The verbal assaults have become more intense and frequent since his tirade, but it is what made me dislike him after that...his stupidity season 7 more.
erinjs Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I enjoyed Howie. He made me laugh. Howie's tirades are nothing compared to what they are now.
TCS Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I said I quit about 10 times during BB9 and then did stop watching CBS episodes the last 3-4 weeks....didn't watch the finale. I'd come here everyday a skim the feed-updates. Thats about all I could handle. I have Showtime and watched BBAD about 2-3 times and for less than an hour at that. I've been watching BB since season 1 when my niece told me about this real neat new show and I should check it out. I've been addicted ever since. So I'll continue to watch....even if has gone down hill the last few seasons. But I'll quit watching again if its gonna have a bunch of porno, skanky strippers and males that degrade women and tell poop and blood under the fingernails sex stories! ewwww! Now James is on myspace asking for people to pay him to party with them....I thought he had a bike waiting on him to continue his "tour"... So...I'm gonna give BB10 a try....I hope that it will be good enough to keep me watching..... PS....there has been HG's doing verbal assaults on other HGs long before seasons 8 and 9. jmho
uvp Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 PS....there has been HG's doing verbal assaults on other HGs long before seasons 8 and 9. true but they did it naturally bb 8 and 9 hg planned it from a-z staged fights i am not a fan of
TCS Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I agree uvp..... I also want to say that I started out playing the BB Prediction Challenge last season and as much as I enjoyed playing in the challenge, I quit because I couldn't stand to watch CBS episodes to see how I thought I was doing and I could careless who did what and in what order.
GingerSnaps Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 All true, but the verbal assaults have gotten meaner and raunchier. It's expected that there would be some verbal altercations from a bunch of strangers living in a house for three months with nothing to do, but some of the stuff is totally uncalled for. As for it being staged or not, I don't think it's less wrong while taking cues from producers. It's not a movie production for cripes sake and someone who agree to sling those attacks doesn't have good character to begin with. BB is a community of strangers (?????-supposingly) who compete to win a prize and they should focus on strategies not on belittling others in that community.
echo Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I remembered that last season I said I was never ever watching this show again!!! I personally love it when people go off the deep end and rant on and on how they are canceling their feeds & showtime, selling their TV, and swear on their holy bible that they will never ever in a bzillion years ever watch another second of BB or any other reality TV show..... And a few days later they say same thing all over again. It's just too funny that people get all worked up over a reality TV show. some people just Snap
GingerSnaps Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 That's why I haven't invested in feeds since Season 6. Why financially support something that may not be up to expectations. But, if I don't fall asleep or not away, I do manage to catch network episodes. Yes, it is a stupid reality show that is addicting, but I don't think hg should be harrassing other houseguests while they are locked away with them. They are all there for the same purpose - to win money (and 15 minutes of fame through acting or modeling). It's the same thing as a dead end job or a job with awful coworkers ....you take alot of crap everyday from coworkers, but does it mean it's okay for people to do that to you just because you need the job?
georgectv Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 "It's the same thing as a dead end job or a job with awful coworkers ....you take alot of crap everyday from coworkers, but does it mean it's okay for people to do that to you just because you need the job? " I think that is the thing that bugs me about the over-the-top verbal assults under the guise of 'game-play/strategy'... there is a point when you go beyond strategy... could a tennis player yell and berate his opponent and say he is trying to get a psychological edge? (and yes, I was around when John McEnroe/etc threw all their temper tantrums in the 80s lol). How about the football player that yells and curses his opponent right before the snap... intimidation, right? I don't care if it's a football game or tennis or some silly reality show... there is still something called sportsmanship that I like to see in the contestants/HGs. I didn't really think about it, but count me as one who was a loyal feed subscriber, that will for the second season now, not be purchasing the feeds. I guess I do fall into that category...
ElisabethF50 Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I don't think I've ever said it because I probably won't ever stop watching, no matter how much they screw it up and make it more and more trashy...
SugarB Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 I never say never. BB9 just didn't get me all that interested, so I didn't really watch the feeds at all, but did watch the network shows and read all the updates. I am hoping BB11 is SO much better!
Fatcat Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I have not had the feeds since 6, nor will I get them, After Dark is enough for me, and of course Morty's, Always plenty of views and updates here, love the community here. I have said I would not watch another episode of that particular season, but never have said I would stop BB altogether, oh I would never do that!, it is a summer tradition. Hated last season, it just was the worst, and I do wish for more "real" people, less wannabees, and such!!
Guest Moxie Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I have never stated I wouldn't watch again. I've been watching since season 1 and will continue to do so unless it gets so totally out of hand I can no longer handle it. I think the real verbal attacks began with Janie's outburst in season 6. She was very popular, many people thought it was great how she let loose that evening. I remember how worked up everybody got on the message board after that. Nowadays they seem to take it to a whole other level which is unnecessary and unhealthy. At times I wonder if the producers of BB are taking cues from other "reality" shows on the air and encouraging the hamsters to go after one another because it's "good for television". Personally, I think they can do away with people acting like they're in the third grade. Most of us have said we'd love to have people in that house with more maturity. That's the ticket!
SueZqueZ Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Moxie..dig new avi I was taught to "never say never"......just say NO!
SCRebel Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I get annoyed at the obvious shows of favoritism towards certain houseguests. It was annoying to see Dick being applauded for his antics that should have gotten him thrown out of the house. I think the America's Player thing was just a BS way for the producers to ensure their favorites have a distinct advantage. I thought the whole James coming back in a box was made up on the spot and a way to keep Grodner's favorite in the house. BB will never be as good as Survivor.
uvp Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 yep real time aspect of bb does make it so producers have vested interest to keep certain hg a float since they are liked by fans(many of which i think just go with whoever the majority likes) dick/james popularity has to do with the majority factor it happens every bb this is eliminated in survivor due to it not being real time
princessb65 Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Bring on BB10!! I will never stop watching it no matter how bad it gets!
TxSioux Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 I don't think I can say 'never', but 9 certainly made it easy to walk away & not think twice about that whole cast. I'm not going to waste my time or money w/ crap, but I'm excited to have my Summer BB countdown. I have hope. Obviously, you can't please everyone, as these boards prove, but it seems like we all agree we want 'the game' back. Twists are fine, but not if they don't have any substance. The cussing doesn't bother me ... as a matter of fact, 'Bye, Bye Bitches' is my all-time favorite quote! I agree w/ Moose, get the HG off their butts & make them complete tasks. It's a bit sad when the only thing they accomplish is either packing on the lbs or going delirious from slop. I kinda think it would be interesting if they each had some kind of talent they could bring to the house ... a candlemaker, a cake decorator, a glass blower ... whatever. Then they spend their time doing something & CBS could even auction off the things they make. I'll always watch again, but I'll walk away again if it's as bad as 9.
Cwazy4BB Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 My beau and I are too hooked not to watch. We're SO ready for this one to begin
Fatcat Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 BB9 did make it real easy to just walk away, and personally I have not thought about them much until like right now, I am getting ready to call and get my BBAD hooked up, I moved so I have to do that again, but other than that I am ready. I had no internet for a month, but I said I HAVE to get hooked up by the 13th at the very latest, thank God it worked out and I am up and running, hope this season is a goody, lol. I have always watched, and always will, sometimes I have to take a little break, and then come back, but I will never not watch
gizzmotor Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Yep that was me, I was extremely annoyed with BB9 and swore I would not watch anymore. I will give the producers another chance, I am just hoping it will be a better season for all.
SueZqueZ Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Never say never, it always comes back to haunt you....
