Ratings: Did Trees Get Hugged?

8 pm/ET

Wife Swap (5.64 mil) edged out Big Brother (5.57 mil) to claim third behind AI and Deal. Top Model matched the premiere's 3.86 mil.

9 pm

Leading out of Idol at 9:30, Back to You matched Wednesday's series-best 12.3 mil. Supernanny (8.36 mil) surged to nip Law & Order: CI (8.34 mil). A Girlicious repeat did 2.02 mil, which is actually a bit better than Monday's fresh airing.

10 pm

Men in Trees (finally... ) returned to an audience of 5.66 mil, placing far behind Law & Order (11.45 mil) and a CSI: NY repeat (eight mil). Still, Trees did a mil better than the most recent Cashmere Mafia and was more or less on par with its last fresh ep.

Ratings: Indeed, Oprah's Give Is Big

Oprah Winfrey presents this Sunday's ratings snippet:

8 pm/ET

Extreme Makeover had a strong outing, delivering 14.78 million total viewers, a 2.3 mil jump from its last fresh episode. Big Brother (6.17 mil) gained 450K week-to-week. Everybody Hates Chris (1.45 mil) and Aliens in America (1.09 mil) returned from the strike to meager audiences.

9 pm

Oprah's Big Give improved on lead-in EM:HE by five percent, scoring 15.55 mil in its debut. (That said, its audience wilted some nine percent over its hourlong run.) Fox's Unhitched did 7.1 mil, retaining 92 percent of Family Guy's viewership. Hooray for monkey assault!

10 pm

ABC's Here Come the Newlyweds averaged 10.34 mil. Dexter, at 6.9 mil, saw a 430 thou week-to-week increase.

The gay scandals keep coming on this season of CBS' reality Big Brother with gay houseguest Joshuah taking attention from former gay pornstar James after the shows online live feed showed Joshuah educate James, Chelsia, and Sharon on gay bareback sex.

First Joshuah misinformed his housemates about unprotected sex: "I do bareback with my boyfriend. We've both been tested for HIV and we're both negative so it's cool. I only do that with my boyfriend. I don't do that on a random one night stand... It's too risky. If you're a top it's okay because you can't really get HIV from being the top because you're penetrating them. But, if your receiving it, then..."

Joshuah then talks about partying and doing drugs in the clip ("doing coke in your butt is the most fun you will ever have") and now an old photo of Joshuah snorting coke has surfaced on the Internet.

Not surprisingly James is also very familiar with the drug scene. He also embraces his gay side with describing the joy of anal orgasm and saying, "You have to watch how much lube you put into a man. If you put to way much it becomes a very discusting situation."

Here's the video (the interesting part starts about half-way)...

BB 9: A Siren Blares, Couples Split With Allison Solely Evicted

Writing by Ryan Haidet on Wednesday, 5 March, 2008 at 8:36 pm

bb9-allison-cast-photo-resized.jpg

Eviction night arrived with a siren having the houseguests concerned. Host Julie Chen promised a shocking twist that would rock the Big Brother house by the end of the episode.

Speculations about the siren were rampant. What could it possibly signal? Would the teams be split up to play as individuals? Would evicted players come back? It turns out that both of those predictions would become true, but only one from the siren. More on that later.

With the eviction looming, Allison said she didn

Big Brother 9 splits its couples, evicts just one, and will bring another person back

CBS has apparently decided to stick with Big Brother 9 and keep the show going as the couples have been split into singles, and one evicted person will return to the house next week. With that addition, assuming the show continues to evict one person per week, it will last for another eight or nine weeks, although there could be double-eviction weeks.

The twist and presumed extension of the show is surprising, considering the show has had rather anemic ratings, although ratings increased last week. Still, it

Big Brother 9

by Krista and Adam

Episode Recap: March 5, 2008 (Eviction 4)

Well the "secret" is out, and even though we've all seen it coming for weeks, the couples of Big Brother are now playing alone. And (again as expected) a formerly evicted houseguest will return to the house next week. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Matt, fresh off the block after winning the Power of Veto, continued his scheming, promising his vote to both couples on the block. But when both Ryan and Allison and Adam and Sheila told James that they had Matt and Natlie's vote secured, Matt's plan backfired. I have to say that James is probably the only player who's really playing the game right now, and he continued doing so by calling out Matt for playing both sides in front of the entire house. This could hurt Matt's game in the long term, as perhaps a few of the people who were so eager to trust him will now think twice.

I honestly didn't pay much attention to the segment featuring Matt and Natalie's friends commenting on their relationship. Natalie's friends bought into the "soulmate" angle just as much as she did, and the conversation the couple had in the hammock was virtually the same one we saw between Matt and "his boy" the night before. Ordinarily, girls in bikinis would have made me pay a little more attention, but we've seen so much of that already this season, I wasn't even phased.

With all the twists and hijinks in the episode, Joshuah and Sharon didn't get their Head of Household interview. FIne by me, as I'm sure Joshuah would have anything more to say than he already has. It would have been nice to get more of Sharon's thoughts on Matt's showmance come-on.

And now, for the main event. The house was clearly ready to get rid of Allison, voting her and Ryan out unanimously. However, when the couple reached the door, it was locked, preventing their escape as teased in the promo during Jericho the night before. When the alarm went off, Allison was estatic, believing that she still had a shot. The best part of this for me was seeing how upset JOshuah became and how overly happy Allison was. But her giddiness was quickly squashed when she realized that only she OR Ryan would be staying, and after a 6-0 vote, she was evicted for the second time that night. I generally don't enjoy other people's misery, but I couldn't help but chuckle at how the house was more interested in talking about the twist than bidding Allison goodbye as she left.

She looked completely deflated during her interview with Julie. I was again proud to see that Julie asked at least one question that pointed out how stupid her gameplay was, highlighting the completely idiotic scheme to create a fake relationship that only put a bullseye on her back. Joshuah's goodbye message was the same old song we've been hearing all week, but delivered with the same ferocity I've come to expect from him. If somehow America votes Amanda or Allison back in, it will be fun to watch Josh's head explode. Of course, that will never happen (or my head might explode, too!) I'm pulling for Parker or Alex, personally.

How unlikely was it to see Adam and Ryan in the final running for HOH? I was shocked to see James go out so early. I also couldn't help but scratch my head as to why the final two in the competition couldn't remember that Julie asked the house if they were confident there were no more couples a good two weeks before Amanda fainted. (I guess the way the show was edited could have some impact on how I remember things versus how the houseguests would). Either way, Ryan eventually pulled it out, going from being evicted to now ruling the house.

So what are your thoughts on the twist? Do you expect players to keep their alliances with their partners? Who are you hoping to see voted back into the house, and who should Ryan nominate for eviction?

Big Brother Howie's Godchild Dies of cancer

(Source)

Many of you will recall Big Brother 6 & 7 Howie's godchild Rabekah from last season. She was stricken with cancer, and the reality community rallied behind her and her family to show their love and support. No one should ever have to eulogize a child, but today, we do just that. The following letter comes from the family:

March 11, 2008

It is with such heaviness we say to you, last night our sweet Rabekah left our sides and began her journey with the Lord. The tears and sorrow are left for us to bare but her soul sits high above smiling, dancing and painting colors for us all to see as a reminder of how much she loved in her precious life.

For so long our family has prayed for her Miracle when all along it was right in front of us. She was the Miracle. Of strength, hope, love and most of all of Light. Her struggle taught so many how to open themselves up to God and prayer. Her eyes carried such peace within them and those of us who were lucky enough to share that with her will forever hold that dear to our hearts. So many of us believed that the Miracle was her healing but now know it was and is within the lessons she has given to each one of us.

She was such a fighter and would want us to remember all the happiness life has to give and would want us to take the time and celebrate the fullness that we have, for her. When you see a rainbow you will see her and remember that all we need to know in life is how to love one another- Perfectly, just as she loved all of us. Thank you for allowing yourselves to be part of her life and ours and continue to rejoice in her name.

There will be an intimate Burial Service with Immediate Family and a Memorial Service at the Millennium in Newport Wednesday March 12 at Noon for anyone who wishes to pay respects.

In Lieu of Flowers and Baskets, we are asking for Donations to the Rabekah fund that will be taken to the PICU Unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center and given in her honor. On the day of Rabekah's diagnosis our family was unsure of where to turn and the staff embraced us all so graciously and turned our devastation into hope and hope into love. They allowed her to become the fine line between what is and what can be.

Big Brother 9

by Krista and Adam

Episode Recap: March 11, 2008 (Veto Competition/Ceremony 4)

Now that the game is being played as singles, some people are definitely stepping up. Sure, the boneheads continue to be boneheads, but the gameplay of a few houseguests proves there might still be hope for this season after all. (I said might).

Again, based solely on what was shown on the CBS broadcast, biggest props probably have to go to Sheila. Maybe she was feeling frisky in her red unitard, but she proved she wasn't afraid to stick her neck out and speak her mind. Sure she was just looking out for own future safety, but she did get HOH Ryan to think better of taking a two-week promise of safety that would force him to backdoor Matt.

Ryan is also playing a pretty good game, given the circumstances. He is in a precarious position, sitting between two sides of the house. Though, I think he made it pretty clear which side he wants to be aligned with. Either way, Ryan's biggest mistake as I see it, is trusting Joshuah at all. I know they made their own agreement (which Ryan honored and has been sharing information to establish trust) but I don't think Ryan should have weaseled out Natalie so fast. She could have provided much more valuable information from the other side. However, by calling her out, he did secure another player on his side of the alliance, which now has the numbers advantage. So I guess I can't fault him too much, considering how it worked out.

The billiards-inspired Power of Veto competition bored me to tears. They already show plenty of the houseguests playing pool, so why make an entire competition out of it? The ability to steal your other opponents' prizes was an interesting enough twist, I suppose, and I was very happy to see that Adam (who's taken lots of heat in our comments section, sometimes deservedly so) showed a little heart and gave Sheila his $10,000. As much as I like Ryan, it was pretty selfish of him to then take the $10,000 away from Sheila, but that's the name of the game I guess. Plus, I don't think Ryan in a unitard is a good idea.

After Chelsia secured her safety by winning the Power of Veto, she and Sharon, Joshuah, and James were giddy, believing that their plan to back door Matt was in full effect. I have to give Joshuah a little bit of credit on his scheming game play to mastermind the "back door Matt" plot, but seeing his face (as well as the others) when Ryan nominated James as Chelsia's replacement was

Ratings: Ugly Numbers for Beauty, Tree Hill

This Tuesday's tallies:

8 pm/ET

American Idol averaged 29.33 million total viewers over its two-hour run. That's up 1.1 mil week-to-week and on par with last year's Top 12 performance show. Biggest Loser (doing 7.66 across two hours) was down a million-plus. Beauty and the Geek scored a date with just 1.88 mil, a 44 percent plunge from last season's opener.

9 pm

Big Brother (5.92 mil) dropped 800K, while One Tree Hill sank 550 thou to hit a season low of 2.45 mil.

10 pm

Trailing an SVU repeat and ABC's Primetime (7.5 mil), Jericho matched last week's 5.87 mil.

What's your take? Are we, at long last, all Geek'd out?
