British financier Matt Grant is The Bachelor 12

Last night during Dance War (a terrible, awful mess of a spin-off) ABC revealed the identity of the 12th Bachelor star, and for the first time, the series has a non-American star. Matt Grant is 27 and

Yea! A bachelor I actually like. He has a great sense of humor and is gorgeous. Not as dull as the last few bachelors.

My biggest complaint after watching the first episode is that one of the bachelorettes is Shayne Lamas, daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas, and an actress herself. Anyone else think she's on this for all the wrong reasons?

The Bachelor Results: Matt Eliminates Three

On the second episode of The Bachelor 12, Londoner Matt Grant divided the remaining 15 bachelorettes into two groups for group dates. For the first group date, Matt took Ashley, Kristine, Marshana, Noelle, Michelle, Amanda, Erin H., and Holly to a fashion show.

To the surprise of the bachelorettes, they soon learned that they would be the models walking the catwalk. During the fashion show, Holly moonwalked, and Amanda took her shirt off (to reveal a bikini top). After the fashion show, Marshana questioned Matt on how he felt about interracial dating, while Michelle P. sang Matt a song that she had written for him. However, Ashlee took a more direct approach and claimed the first kiss and the first group date rose from Matt. Ashlee rubbed the rose in the faces on the other girls.

For the second group date, Matt took Kelly, Carri, Chelsea, Robin, Amy, Erin S., Shayne, to the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Matt challenged the bachelorettes to collect the most chips during thirty minutes of gambling. Robin pulled Matt away to talk to him alone, while Shayne lost all her money on roulette. Kelly won the competition and received an exclusive champagne and dessert one-on-one with Matt. When Matt returned, Shayne got upset and had an emotional confrontation with Matt.

After gambling, Matt took the bachelorettes up to the Napoleon suite. Chelsea talked to Matt about her stubborn streak, while Robin played classical piano for Matt. At the end of the date, Matt chose to give his last group date rose to Chelsea. Shayne got upset and went to the ladies room to cry.

After the group dates, Matt spent some time with the bachelorettes at a cocktail party. Matt made out with Robin, which upset some of the other girls. Marshana danced with Matt, Carri sang opera to Matt, and Shayne apologized to Matt for her tantrum in Vegas.

At the rose ceremony, Matt gave roses to Robin, Holly, Erin S., Amanda, Kelly, Amy, Kristine, Marshana, Noelle, and Shayne. Erin H., Carri, and Michelle P. were eliminated from the competition. Erin H. said,

Well, I only watched the end of this -- the rose ceremony. I wonder if the host feels as stupid as he looks when he comes out to announce that there's only 1 rose left.

That poor cat lady! Is is just me, or did she just scare off any potential suitors? She seemed a little bit too fond of her cat-- if you know what I mean. :dontgetit:

Was I the only one who felt like I was watching a bad soap opera during Matt's one-on-one date with Shayne? He must feel like a complete idiot this morning after watching himself on last night's episode. The girl is blank but pretty. Matt focused entirely on the pretty.

The Bachelor: Holly, Kelly, and Ashlee Go Home

Shayne is a beautiful girl and I have no doubt that Matt is physically attracted to her in a big way. But last night's episode showed him eliminating women that he did not connect with on an intellectual level. Shayne may have made it through because Ashley, Holly and Kelly were all airheads, too. But if one of Matt's criteria is stimulating conversation, Shayne won't last past next week.

Well, she made it, so what does that mean about his criteria?

Next week, Lorenzo Lamas makes an appearance.

Could Shayne go all the way to the final rose? Personally, I think that with only 4 girls left now, she is definitely in the final 2.

It means Matt is a hypocrit or there is a tie-in with ABC and Lorenzo Lamas that has yet to be uncovered. I'll say it again . . . Shayne is a beautiful girl but I have a hard time seeing her & Matt as a couple.

I don't know why, but I had Shayne picked as a final two candidate from the beginning. After she immediately answered the usual question of why an actress is on the show (totally for love, of course), he seemed to be really attracted to her. I think he is in love with American culture, and in the U.K, the American culture they see is television and the movies. So, that amounts to actors, and that's her.

I agree that that is why he is so attracted to her, but if he is really looking to settle down . . . Shayne is the least likely candidate left. He has asked every other girl if they would be willing to move to London. What do you think Shayne's answer would be to that question? She's an actress. I don't see her doing Shakespeare at the Palladium. She needs to be in Los Angeles.

After seeing the "practical joke" thing, I'm wondering if more than one person wants to be an actress.

I agree about moving, but I always wonder about the bachelors, and their future plans. If he wants to travel and possibly be involved in entertainment (I have no idea if he wants that or not), then Shayne would probably be the one to pick. Of course, it would probably end within a month, too.

(He just said that he isn't really living anywhere, and if he found the right person, he'd be flexible. That doesn't seem to go with his prior questions about whether the women were willing to move...)

I tried not to like Shayne, but the more she sticks around the more shes growing on me. Do I think she'll be the last one standing???? I don't know. I'm sooooo glad Robin got the boot....she got on my last nerve for some reason. jmho

I can't wait for the girls to meet his family. So far I'm liking this season.
