Airdate: September 24, 2007

  • 08/22 - When Robin shows up with an Argentinean Adonis by her side, Ted decides he is ready to hit the town with Barney and his performance is legen...wait for it...dary! Grammy Award-winning recording artist Enrique Iglesias ("Two And A Half Men") guest stars as Gael, Robin's new, sexy Argentinean lover and actress/singer Mandy Moore ("License To Wed") guest stars as, Amy, a tattooed party girl Ted hooks up with while out on the town. Source: CBS
  • 08/22 - Iglesias will appear in the new season's first two episodes as Gael, an Argentinean heartthrob who accompanies Robin back to New York after they share a lusty vacation romance. He's the sexy, wind-surfing, bongo-playing, vegan, hippie-ish masseur who has all the ladies swooning - including Lily. (Which, of course, doesn't make her new hubbie Marshall very happy.) [...] Gael and Robin's new relationship causes stirs up some resentment amongst the friends. He's mocked by all the guys - they not-so-lovingly call him "Male Gayle" - and tensions flare until they reach a dramatic climax. which will be revealed on the Sept. 24 season premiere. The star-studded premiere will also feature Mandy Moore as Amy, Ted's rebound gal. Source: Entertainment Weekly
  • 08/08 - Enrique Iglesias has signed on to play a love interest for Robin in at least two episodes, exec producer Craig Thomas confirms to me exclusively. He first appears in the Sept. 24 season premiere. "Enrique plays a dreamy vacation romance that Robin tries to transplant back into her real life. much to Ted's dismay," Thomas tells me. "The character, Gael, is exactly the guy you don't want your ex-girlfriend hooking up with next: In addition to being a sexy, guitar-playing surfer/massage therapist, the guy looks a like lot Enrique Iglesias. It drives Ted nuts." Source: Ask Ausiello @ TV Guide
  • 08/08 - Mandy Moore will shed her wholesome image wholesale as part of a guest-starring gig on the new season of How I Met Your Mother. As series creator Carter Bays previews for Entertainment Tonight, "Ted is freshly single and on the rebound, and on his first night out, he meets Amy, the ultimate bad decision. She's [a] tattooed vodka-swilling train wreck. Source: TV Guide Online
  • 08/06 - In retaliation to Robin starting to date, Ted goes on a date with a girl named Amy. Barney comes along as her friend's date, Melanie. Melanie keeps throwing herself at Barney, but he is too upset to notice because Ted spends the whole time getting drunk and making out with Amy in an attempt to win the breakup. Amy, who is also trying to win her break up with her ex-boyfriend Stiv, takes Ted to the tattoo parlor where Stiv works to make him jealous. Ted wakes up the next morning, alone, and unsure of what transpired the night before. Source: SpoilerFix.com
  • 08/01 - Robin starts dating a guy she met in Brazil, Gael, who paints seashells by the seashore. He is also a surfer, sculptor, flamenco guitarist, chef, and massage therapist. They double date with Lily and Marshall, who try not to like him for Ted's sake--who is not taking the news well--but Gael draws them into his weird world. Source: SpoilerFix.com
  • 07/20 - Said Carter [bay], "In the first episode, Barney is sitting at his computer, just there at work, or whatever. And he gets a phone call from Marshall, who's like, 'Hey, check your email.' So, Barney opens up his email from Marshall and there's a link to a Website. It's slapcountdown.com. And it's going to literally be a ticking clock... to when the slap will occur." Source: Kristin on E!Online
  • 07/19 - The season premiere will focus on the aftermath of Ted and Robin's breakup. Also, a major hint will be dropped about the Mother. Teases [exec producer Carter] Bay: "Episode one will show that we haven't forgotten the title of our show in a very big way." Also in the premiere, Marshall will give Barney a rather large clue about when his highly-anticipated third slap will be delivered. (Hint: It involves a website called slapcountdown.com.) They tell them they have a friend from there and when the friend walks up, Barney darts away quickly. The guys go out with the women to "see New York" but things don't turn out the way they hope. Robin and her new boyfriend Gael are dealing with a group of Australian backpackers in her apartment. General Spoilers:

08/21 - After Enrique [iglesias] says hasta luego, Robin continues to play the field. I'm hearing she starts dating a single dad, in fact. Plus, Ted's moving on, too. He and Barney go toe-to-toe trying to land the same lady. But it won't be a serious thing. More of the "I'm better than you" sort of competition you'd expect from the Barnicle. Source: Kristin on E!Online

07/20 - Taking a cue from their own personal lives, as they often do, Carter [bay] and Craig [Thomas] bought homes this past year, and some of that pain will spill over into the show: "One of the sort of general arcs of the season is Marshall and Lily dealing with their housing situation. We want to do the story of Marshall and Lily buying an apartment in New York and making every mistake you can possibly make. We're also going to deal with Marshall's career. He just graduated from law school. He wants to be an environmental lawyer. He's going to find out that when you have $100,000 in law school debt, that's maybe not the best financial decision." Source: Kristin on E!Online

07/19 - [Exec producer Craig] Thomas hints that this season we'll meet the woman that stole Barney's virginity. And she sounds frightening. There'll be lots of drama (and comedy) when Marshall and Lily purchase their first New York apartment. Marshall's work issues will also take center stage when he realizes that environmental law may not be the most lucrative career path. Wayne Brady will reprise his role as Barney's gay bro in a flashback episode that shows him "before he was gay... and very macho and over-compensating." Source: The Ausiello Report

07/19 - Executive producer Craig Thomas says we're going to meet Rhonda, the 45-year-old pal of Barney's mom, to whom Barney lost his virginity. "She smells like menthol cigarettes," previews Thomas. "We're going to see that story and what it does to Barney in the present day." Source: TV Squad

07/18 - There'll be more clues about the mother on HIMYM [this season]. Source: The Ausiello Report

06/23 - We hear the network is asking focus groups if they would prefer to see Ted and Robin dating or just being friends for next season. Source: Kristin on E!Online

While on a date with her, her sorority sister Rachel shows up and acts very interested in Ted. Will this be Ted's lucky night with two women? Not if Barney can help it, as he tries to sabotage Ted's chances because he hasn't had a threesome of his own yet. Robin is on a date with Ian, who is a doctor. General Spoilers:

09/15 - [Ted will be sporting a beard, which] represents the evolution of [his] breakup with Robin. Apparently, he'll be going through something of a dark phase this year. "Basically, this is Ted's lost weekend," says [...] Craig Thomas. [...] Robin's presence should guarantee another appearance from Robin Sparkles -- her '90s Canadian teen-pop-star alter ego -- and possibly a touching breakup ballad shot in black and white on a beach. [...] Marshall and Lily will take tentative steps toward adulthood -- including a disastrous experience with buying an apartment. We'll learn more about Barney's sordid hippie past, plus he may land a girlfriend of his own. And all the characters will face what [Carter] Bays calls a "life-changing moment," playing into "the ideas of this show, about destiny and free will and how little control we have over our own lives." [...] There's also the continuation of the Slap Bet, a running gag from the Robin Sparkles episode in which Marshall retains permission to slap Barney three more times (out of an original give). Remember all those cracks that many of you made last spring about a "no talent" like Britney Spears darkening How I Met Your Mother's doorstep?

You're going to wish you saved such snark for now.

Heidi Spencer and her beaupendage, Spencer Pratt, are going to appear in a January episode of the CBS sitcom, TVGuide.com has learned. The Hills star and her partner in perpetual photo ops will play two-dimensional versions of themselves, taunting Marshall from the cover of his tabloid of choice as he desperately seeks a quiet "place" to get some reading done.

"We can confirm that Heidi and Spencer will appear on the show, but we can't give away anything specific about the episode," series cocreator Craig Thomas tells us. "All we can say is that they play themselves - and one of them is The Mother."

How I Met Your Mother's guest stars this season have included Regis Philbin and Jamie Lynn Sigler.

post-2-1226486732_thumb.jpgSources tell E! News exclusively that Kim Kardashian is joining Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt in an upcoming episode of How I Met Your Mother! CBS confirms that the Dancing queen will appear with the terrible two in a January episode.

The ep, tentatively called "Benefits," is about Marshall's (Jason Segel) inability to poop at work. (Charming!)

Marshall carries a copy of Them Weekly with him when he's heading to the bathroom. Kim, Heidi, Spencer and lord knows which other tabloid faves will speak to Marshall from the cover of Them in a dream sequence. They presumably pop up to mock and laugh and make Marshall feel generally silly. Sounds kind of cute, no? Will you watch?
