Six Million Dollar Man...

Recommended Posts

I saw a TV commercial today with Lee Majors in it... Can you imagine what it would cost to build him now!!! It would be more like the 60 Million dollar man, who's parts become obsolete 10 miniutes after they are installed, not to mention the constant software upgrades and virus protection... His new nickname would probably be "Reboot"..

"The Six Million Dollar Man" is up and running. Jim Carrey is set to star in an updated, comedic version of the classic 1970s television show that starred Lee Majors.

"The Six Million Dollar Man" will be written and directed by Todd Phillips, the co-writer and director of the comedies "Road Trip," "Old School" and the soon-to-be-released movie version of "Starsky and Hutch."

Dimension Films and Universal Pictures will co-finance. Dimension will be the lead studio on the film with Andrew Rona and Brad Weston, Co-Presidents of Dimension, overseeing with Mary Parent, President of Production overseeing for Universal Pictures.

"The teaming of Jim and Todd is the perfect creative combination to launch the 'Six Million Dollar Man' franchise," said Dimension Co-Chairman Bob Weinstein. "Todd is a director with proven instincts and Jim is a superstar."

Phillips is currently completing production on the comedy "Starsky & Hutch," starring Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Snoop Dogg, which is a Warner Brothers/Dimension Co-Production. The studio has an overall deal with Phillips and has several projects in development including, "School for Scoundrels," which he and Scot Armstrong are currently drafting. As soon as the duo completes the script for "Scoundrels," Phillips will begin working on "Six Million Dollar Man."

In the original series, which ran on ABC from 1974 to 1978, Majors starred as the astronaut Col. Steve Austin. Following the crash of an experimental NASA aircraft in which Austin lost both his legs, his left eye and right arm, he received cybernetic replacements. Austin was recruited by the government organization that saved his life to work on various espionage missions. The show was based on the novel Cyborg: A Novel by Martin Caidin and originally found life on television as a series of three TV movies on ABC in 1973. :D
