all reality shows need a polarizer to divide the audience in half...it creates a reason to watch, either for him or against him, you want to see what happens TO him (or her)...without a contestant that has this personality the show will suffer in the ratings...run all of your favorite reality shows back in your mind and you will see this holds TRUE in Every One of them.
