Finalists Have Been Chosen And Have Already Been Notified

Recommended Posts

I know people have been wondering about the semi-finals and when we would find out if we made the finals. Well I went to an interview in Atlanta on May 6th. I just received an email telling me that the finalists have been chosen and if I hadn't received a call by now I wasn't chosen. I had a really fun time going as far as I did, I was really looking forward to representing everyone at Morty's. Maybe I will try again next year. I just wanted to let everyone know that the finalists have been chosen.

I've been "lurking" on the Mortys site for a while now and have just signed up, but, yes, I can attest to the email that just went out. I was a semi-finalist as well, and I received my email on 5/21. I'm slightly disappointed, but I didn't think I'd get as far as I did. The interview process was fun, but I'm now kind of obsessing about what I could have done differently. :animated_scratchchin:

Congrats to the both of you for getting that far. Which regions did you originally apply in and did you do the send-in application or go to an open casting?

I know you probably signed some sort of confidentiality agreement and can't tell us about some of the specifics or the direction the show might be heading, but are you able to speculate on whether the show is going to have some interesting guests? If so, lay it on us!

Again, congratulations!

Well in my case interesting enough I was called by someone at kassting inc and asked to send in my application. I am not sure how I was put on a list, but once I sent everything in my one on one interview was set up in Atlanta. I too have been wondering what I could have done differently. As to what the direction the show may take this year was not really made that clear to me. The questions that were asked in the interview were not really specific to what the show will be about this year. One of the questions I was asked was what do you think draws people in to big brother. Of course I said the drama, the backstabbing, and the lengths that people go to win the game.. Gosh I will I knew what I could have done differently. I will copy and paste the body of the email only..

Dear Melissa,

Thank you for applying to Big Brother 8. Our Finalist have been chosen. If

you did not receive a phone call from me inviting you to the Los Angeles

finals, then this is the end of the journey and you may go about your daily

lives. As you know, this is a highly competitive process with only a few

select spots.

I truly enjoyed meeting you and appreciate all of your effort. I hope you

will apply again next season.

Remember, you beat out thousands of people when you became a Semi-Finalist:)

Best Wishes,

I don't want to put the person's name just in case you know..

Good luck to those that are lurking as finalists... I know you are probably already headed to LA..

hmmm, when i applied back in season 6 i made it to semi-finals and then received a letter via regular mail. the only Email i got from then is when i had to download the 32 page contract i had to fill out and bring to the Semi-final interview.

anyhow... my semi-final interview was on April 29th and they sent letters and/or called for finals around May 5th. My letter was dated May 5th and signed by Robyn Kass. they had the finals soon after that. they didnt pick the final houseguest till mid-end June... right before they move in. they really have no time, maybe a few days.

i dont know how they are doing it this year, but they were still doing casting calls at the begining of May.. so its doubtful they have picked the final houseguest already.

Thanks... it was fun while it lasted. I definitely gave them things to remember me by like me losing 96 lbs and that I was a Katrina victim. It was definently a good experience but damn it I wanted to go to LA lol.

I'm seriously sitting here shocked! I can't believe two people on mortys made the semi's. Wow.

You all make me want to apply next season. Can you reapply if you only made the semi's? Maybe next yr will be your lucky years.

Yeah I am pretty normal and I told them in my video and during the interview that everyone in the forums are sick and tired of the wannabe models and actors, that we want real people in the house. Guess they didn't listen lol. We will see in July if they did and just didn't pick me. :( Field trip!!!!

Thanks to all for the kind wishes. I'll definitely keep coming back. I interviewed in Charlotte, NC, in the very end of April. I also received the exact same email that was already posted, so I won't repost it (but just to prove I'm not making it up, I'll give the initials of the sender - D.T. TVjunkie can probably verify that for me).

I sent my application in and was called back within 5 days. I wasn't told anything about the direction of the show, so I dont' know the types of houseguests they're looking for. I am thinking about reapplying, but I'm not sure. The waiting after the semi-finals almost drove me insane.

I'm probably too "normal" to get on the show. My initial reaction (and I'll know more once I see the show) is that I was judged as a 'yea/nea' as soon as I walked in the door. I was waiting for interviews to be completed, and it seemed that others took longer than mine did. I'm fairly good looking guy, but I'm not built in any way and am a little flabby so I doubt they'd want me on camera in a bathing suit. In fact, one of my questions was whether or not I thought I could handle the physical challenges, which of course I think I can. I dunno. I'm not going to second guess myself, but I do know I'd be more of a mental/conniving/backstabbing player than a physical one. That's how Will won the game, isn't it?

Also, I would not be *scared* to apply. It's a fairly easy process, and once my interview took place, I was VERY calm and collected. The producer was extremely nice and was very good at interviewing. I think the most nerve-wracking thing about it is the possibility that you might actually get on the show and be away from civilization for 3 months!

BBJunkie: I was @ the Charlotte open casting (3rd in line, wearing a maroon Harvard tee shirt). We were interviewed on Thursday, April 26, and told if we got a callback, it would be scheduled for Tuesday, that Monday's interviews were already filled. We had two people there from BB and both were really nice. The lady took my picture and I made her laugh. The guy (Derrick???) was cool too. He's the one who said he thought I was great.

Not great enough to get a callback apparently, but I'd definitely do it again.

That you went there for the callback at the same time tells me why the Monday slots were already filled. They must have done the open casting @ the same time as the open call. Did you go on Mon or Tues?

Fizzle: You so should have tried again this year. You probably didn't make it on BB6 because that was the package deal summer. Maybe they didn't like who you would have brought. I wish I'd included my daughter in my BB6 app. as she was definitely the BB6 prototype - blonde, beautiful, a waitress in Florida. Her boobs were real though - could have been a deal breaker! :P

And you're right about LA! Jordin Sparks went to LA to audition for American Idol and couldn't even get past the producers to sing for the judges. She then entered a Phoenix tv station's Arizona Idol contest, won it and was flown to Seattle to audition. This time she got into the room - and guess who is in the final 2 and very well may win tonight!

tvjunkie27: I have been told that they stop people on the street and ask them to apply. Maybe they're trolling the Internet for folks now too. Do you have a MySpace, Facebook, or other webpage that they might have stumbled across?

I agree that the whole Katrina thing should have at least gotten you to LA. Katrina worked for Colie in Real World, Denver and she was only there for college.

Ok, that's cool. If it was Monday, I have no questions, but if it was Tuesday, I wanted to find out if some of the cool people I was in line with made it thru to the interviews. I won't bother to say which ones cuz I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to comment on them anyway.

I'm hoping the really tall girl who played college basketball got in - she would not put up with any crap and she's good-looking enough to fit the BB profile. The gay guy from New York and the lady who's Bunky's next door neighbor would be okay too, but I think they'd probably be the outcast type more than the instigator.
