We are down to the top ten. Tonight there is No Doubt the Idols will be singing for America's votes. Tonight you will see your American Idol!

Gwen Stefani is the guest artist this week.

LaKisha Jones leads off the night with Let's Dance. It started off strong but felt off when she hit main portion of the song. She pulled it back together at the end, though. Randy said it was her first up tempo performance, it was hot. Paula said she did Donna Summer proud. Simon loved the boots and she was 30 years younger, especially the big note at the end, great vocal.

Chris Sligh likes to play bongos in his boxers during the downtime, when he is not sleeping to stay healthy. Singing Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, his vocals are dead, if not a little breathless. The performance was lacking energy, however, and never really connected. Randy said it was a good song for him, but he was out of sync with the band. Paula said the vocals were nice but you have to hear the beat to grab the audience. Simon thought it was a mess, all over the place.

Next up is Gina singing I'll Stand By You. The vocals were on pitch but the performance was lacking emotion. And what was she wearing? I think she could have done that better. Randy complimented her on her boots and thought it was one of her best performances, believing in her big voice. Paula loves that she is improving each week and her song choice showed vulnerability. Simon said it wasn't one of her best performances, it was her best performance.

Sanjaya Malakar took the stage singing Bathwater with his hair in a raised Mohawk. The performance was actually not that bad once you got past the look. He sang well when he remembered the words, and was more comfortable on stage than in the past. He voice started off lacking energy but gained power towards the end. Randy said he can really sing if he put it out there. Paula said that if you had the gumption to really go for it, dressing funny would work. Simon said it doesn't matter what they say anymore; he is in his own universe and good luck to people like him.

Haley Scarnato sang True Colors next. Sitting sedately on the stage, she sang simply and clearly, letting the melody speak for itself. When the song called for a stronger ending, she resisted the temptation to break out the power, keeping it soft and silky. Randy said it started a little rough, but she didn't really grab him, some pitchy moments. Paula said it only required singing the melody and being vulnerable, but she didn't stay young enough. Simon said it was sweet but forgettable, nothing to remember, too safe.

Next up is Phil Stacey, who finds it crazy being so famous so quickly, but they are so busy they do not get to really experiencing it. Singing Every Breath You Take, he went for the underground street look with an excellent vocal and a confident performance that took control and enthralled the audience. Perhaps the best male performance so far. Randy said he kind of liked it, really solid, he could have pushed it more but didn't. Paula said there is so much personality and color in his voice during the chorus, but the verses played it safe. Simon said he thought it was very good, a great choice of song and that he was taking the competition seriously.

Melinda Doolittle hit the stage singing Don't Take Your Love Away. She continued to provide a professional performance. Everything worked from vocals to stage presence. Randy said a pro singer interprets the words and sings with feeling, she is living the words. Paula said she has charisma from the word go, its fun and joyful when she is singing. Simon said it won't be the best of her performances, but it was outstanding.

Blake Lewis hangs up the beat box for Love Song. A slower song, with a pure vocal and stylish wardrobe, he pulls off a strong performance. Randy wasn't jumping up and down but he liked it. Paula loved it, thought it was cool, loves how he takes risks is making the competition hip and contemporary. Simon calls him the strongest guy in the competition, but he has to be careful not to become too indulgent and boring.

Next up is Jordin Sparks singing Hey Baby. With kind of a J-Lo vibe, she strutted back and forth across the stage like she owned it even if half of her lyrics consisted of two words. It was a different look for her, and it worked. Randy said it was a risky thing to do such a stylized song, but she can sing anything and it was brilliant. Paula said she is adorable, hip and young, and she loves seeing her in this kind of mode. Simon said she is the most improved contestant, she is younger and more confident, but a little copycatish.

Chris Richardson closed the show with Don't Speak. Standing front and center, he keeps it simple, gathering confidence and energy half way though the song. It wasn't a bad performance but not necessarily a memorable one. Randy said it was an interesting flavor, not the best vocal but a good style. Paula said he is good, just good. Simon said this was a much better choice of song, but wasn't crazy about the vocal, struggling in the middle.

This link should take you to the yahoo Buzz section video of American Idol. It's pretty entertaining to watch; it's less than 5 minutes long. They are showing sources predicting that these people will go home: Chris Sligh, Haley Scarnato... and watch the video to find out the third one. They were pretty accurate last week predicting either Phil or Stephanie to go home.

Tonight we drop to single digits. Tonight we find out who is going home. Tonight we find out for whom the Top Ten was the best they could do. It's Results Night. And this is American Idol.

After getting rid of his Sanjaya raised mohawk wig, it is time to review last night's performances and the judges comments. We will find out who is moving on, after the break.

But first, it is time for the Top Ten Ford Commercial. And then it was time to begin the results. The three with the lowest number of votes will head to the center of the stage.

Blake, America voted and you are safe.

LaKisha, after the nationwide vote, you may take a seat. You're safe.

Phil, America voted and you are in the bottom three tonight.

Melinda, after the nationwide vote, you are safe.

Chris, you were in the bottom two last week. Tonight you are safe.

Sanjaya, America voted and you are not going to be in the center of the stage. You are safe, take a seat.

Haley, after the vote, you are in the bottom three with Phil.

Jordin, after the vote, you are safe.

So that means either Chris or Gina will be joining Phil or Haley in the bottom three.

But first we meet last week's AI Challenge winner. And Exxon Mobile joined AI's AI Gives Back campaign. Next, Gwen Stefani performs live on American Idol.

Who is joining Phil and Haley in the bottom three? It's down to Chris and Gina.

America voted. Chris, you are joining Phil and Haley in the bottom three tonight. Gina, you are safe.

Phil, Haley and Chris. One of you goes back to safety right now. Phil, you are safe, have a seat.

It's the last show for either Haley or Chris.

Randy won't make a call. Paula avoids the question. Simon predicts bye bye curley.

After over 30,000 votes, here are the results.

After the vote, Haley, you are safe. It is the end of the road for Chris Sligh.

We watch a video tribute to Chris's journey on American Idol and then he reprises his final performance.
