The very first girl that sang last night was amazing... I can't believe she didn't make the cut. I didnt catch her name but, it started with a J. My favorite group was the guy group that had bushy haird guy, Chris and the beat-box guy in the same group.

Sorry I don't remember all their names but, from last night I see a few that I think will make it to the final 24.

Chris (bushy hair guy)

Kid who's sister didn't make it

Girl who's best friend didn't make it

Guy with the green eyes that didn't make it past hollywood last year

and on the borderline is the beat-box guy

It never ceases to amaze me at some of the attitudes you see, when they get to Hollywood. I'm can't believe that forgetting the lyrics is such a problem, during the group auditions. Can they not study, and just learn the freakin' lyrics???? I understand nerves, I understand a 'brain fart', but they had already been through nerve-wracking, stressful auditions, and managed to remember the words. I suppose it's because they are singing a song not of their choosing. But still-- what's so hard about learning a few words? It's like they put in ZERO effort, or figure if they sing it enough they'll get it. Whatever-- but if you are having trouble remembering, don't you just keep going over and over and over it? Don't you just drum it into your head???? It's not like they're expected to memorize the Constitution of anything. Just a few lines from a song -- a song most everyone has heard before.....

Those 4 guys-- the bushy haired, beat box boy, and the other 2 were marvelous. I think that is what they are hoping from, in this group competition. That is the standard by which they should all aspire to.

And what is with Bailey Brown blaming the other girls for her mistakes? She totally froze up. I will admit, it didn't seem like they worked together very well, and maybe the one girl took a break to flirt when they should have been working, but there was nothing preventing Bailey from LEARNING THE WORDS TO THE SONG! She should have just made sure she knew HER part. I don't know-- maybe I missed something, but I thought she really looked like a whiny baby last night. '

Ok -- I'm done venting for now.

I'm very happy that the awful auditions are over, and we get to the good stuff!

Agreed about Bailey--she was acting like a spoiled brat.

I was just surprised though; she was so fantastic, and seemed so poised in the earlier audition, didn't seem at all like the type who would freeze up.

Did anyone remember seeing Ebony Jointer last night? She was the one that Simon was so enamored with (one of the three "waitresses" that came in together to audition). I read in the paper something about her having an "exotic dancing" background that she might be dumped from the show, but I haven't heard anything else. I also read that they dumped the "cousin" of the guy who couldn't sing a lick but was hilarious. I guess the cousin had a police record of some sort so they wouldn't let him come to Hollywood.

It sounds like the show is cracking down because they don't want another situation like the Cory or ...what's her name (the large woman who was a great singer who was discovered to have a background in internet porn) one.

That still doesn't explain Paula....

I did see Ebony in the background last night. It looked like she got cut. Also there was a girl named Robyn Troup that sang and was eliminated in the group round. Was that the same girl that sang at the grammy's with Justin????

American Idol Top 40 Revealed

idol_roomone.jpg

While cutting the usually stretched out American Idol Hollywood week down to just one episode sounded like a good idea, the end result was a fast paced show that saw many great performers cut with little to no explanation. While some of the contestants cut were actually being shown on air for the first time, many surprising cuts were sentimental favorites from the auditions rounds.

Some of the shocking eliminations of contestants featured in the audition episodes were Canadian born Jory Steinberg, once homeless Perla Meneses, Army Reservist Rachel Jenkins, Navy Intelligence Specialist Jarrod Fowler, second chance girl Ashley Carr, Rocky wannabe Porcelana Patino, best friend Amanda Coluccio, half of bother/sister duo Shyamali Malakar, returning Hollywood contestant Brian Miller, unsupported by parents Sarah Burgess, and also unsupported by parents Matt Sato.

However, the two most shocking eliminations of the night had to be city girl in the country Baylie Brown and Fidel Castro look-a-like Sean Michel. Baylie impressed the judges in the solo auditions, but they quickly cut her when she forgot her words in the group auditions. On the other hand, Sean Michel

American Idol Top Twenty Four Reveals Several New Faces

americanidol6_toptwentyfour.jpg

The American Idol Top Twenty-Four episode opened with forty contestants nervously waiting to find out their fates. As is tradition with the show, the contestants rode an elevator up to sit in a chair in front of the three American Idol judges to find out if they had made the top twenty-four.

As is also tradition, the judges mercilessly toyed with the contestants and tried to make the ones that had made it through think that they had been eliminated. The contestants that actually got eliminated were Anna Kearns, Bernard Williams, Eric Davis, Tami Gosnell, Jimmy McNeal, Errick Johnson, Thomas Lowe, Olivia Quiba-Hurst, Tatiana McConnico, Monique Vieras, Jerome Chism, Joelle James, Matthew Buckstein, Princess Johnson, Marisa Rhodes, and Thomas Daniels.

The contestants that made it through to the top twenty-four were Sanjaya Malakar, Alaina Alexander, Melinda Doolittle, Brandon Rogers, Gina Glocksen, Haley Scarnato, Phil Stacy, Chris Sligh, Blake Lewis, Rudy Cardenas, A.J. Tabaldo, Stephanie Edwards, Leslie Hunt, Nicholas Pedro, Chris Richardson, Sabrina Sloan, Lakisha Jones, Paul Kim, Jordan Sparks, Nicole Tranquillo, Jared Cotter, Amy Krebs, Antonella Barba, and Sundance Head.

While there were several familiar faces among the top twenty-four contestants, the most shocking thing was that there were also several new faces that had not been featured during the audition episodes. It will be interesting to see if the contestants that are being introduced to America for the first time will be able to catch up in building a fan following or if they will be the first eliminated.

I like the "crazy hair guy" he seems like he will be fun!

But I was alittle confused with the final 24 there were a few in there that I thought were horrible and they still got through, well I guess they wont last too much longer, but I thought some that were cut were better then some that made it!

Wow, I was pretty surprised by many of the picks. I did think that Chris Sligh had an amazing voice, was rooting for the two back-up singers, and knew that Antonella would make it because she seems to be one of Simon's faves. I think it's pretty easy to pick out which ones will most likely go first....but I was definitely way off on my top picks, so who knows?

I really object to the format of 12 guys and 12 girls, because you don't necessarily get the best 24. If the ppl auditioning were given a ranking number, and the top 24 ranked were picked, then maybe you'd have 16 girls and 8 guys, or whatever.

The way it is now, there could be a lot of guys that are better than some of the top 12 girls (or vice versa), but can't be chosen because of the way it's set up.

I was shocked how unforgiving the judges were during Hollywood week. Some good people were sent home this year when in previous years they would have been given another chance. Though I wasn't happy with some of their final picks, I do love the fact that most of the people with a lot of camera time were let go. Except for a few of the final 24, most of these singers are starting out on a fairly level playing field.

My only "what-the-f*ck" moments came at the end with Antonella and Sundance getting the last 2 spots over Marissa and Thomas. That was crap. Antonella is a fellow jersey girl but she did not deserve it over Marissa. And Sundance seemed to get a pass even though he sucked everytime he hit the stage during Hollywood week. I hope these 2 are the first to go.

ITA Yath, I have always wondered why they do that, it should never be about an even number of guys vs girls, its not like you get 1 male winner and 1 female winner!! like you said they should just get ranked and the top 24 go through, so what if one year there is 20 females and 4 males, or vise versa, at least that way you have the best of the best (at least according to the judges lol)

I missed last night's show, and am a little confused. The top 40, did not sing again? They just got picked for the top 40, then had to go through another elimination round, when they finally picked the top 24, without even another audition? I remember the elevator thing from last year. Doesn't this seem like an unnecessary step? Why go from 40 to 24, without any additional material from which to judge them?

And I agree about Sundance. I liked him, but he didn't do well in Hollywood, when I saw him sing.. so why is he still there?

And, it drives me nuts that so many forget the lyrics. But it seems like an unforgivable sin when some do it, and not such a big deal when others do.
