San Diego Critics Love 'Letters From Iwo Jima'

The San Diego Film Critics Society tends to go its own way when it comes to year-end film awards. The San Diego Critics Society's picks for 2006 to a large extent demonstrate their continual avoidance of group mentality. "Letters From Iwo Jima" captured Best Picture honors while its helmer, Clint Eastwood, was named Top Director.

Besides Helen Mirren winning for "The Queen," the acting honors were much different than several previously announced awards from critics groups. Even though the Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actress categories were filled with expected names
