TV_Paige
Federline Raps As Britney Shows and Glows Kevin Federline Raps at Teen Choice Awards He danced, he clutched his bling, but could he rap? Apparently the answer is yes. Britney Spears' hubby Kevin Federline capped off the "Eighth Annual Teen Choice Awards" on Sunday, August 20 with an enthusiastic version of his single, "Lose Control." It was his first time performing on network television. It wasn't genius, but it wasn't half bad either. The bigger surprise, however, came in the form of pregnant presenter Spears, who wore a cleavage-baring dress, and introduced her "man" onstage with a shout and a giggle. "This show has been very good to me and my career over the years. And I'm hoping that it will be as good to our next performer," she said. With celebrities sweating in the late summer heat, the show's mood was light, and clothing sparse. In a loose white shirt and white hat, Federline prowled and jumped around the stage, surrounded by young dancers. "I ain't here to brag," he rapped in a tough-guy style. 'American Idol' Judge Paula Abdul "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul, when asked before the show what advice she would give the 28-year-old singer and rapper, didn't hesitate. "Do what you gotta do and have fun," she said. Federline, who married Spears in 2004, is expected to release his debut hip-hop album, "Playing With Fire," in August. The tabloid-popular couple have an infant son, Sean Preston, and they are expecting their second child. Hosts Jessica Simpson and comedian Dane Cook jump-started the broadcast, aired live on Fox from the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, with riffs on nominees including "Pirates of the Caribbean." Votes were cast by fans on various online sites for the hottest celebrities in television, music, fashion, sports and film. 'The Lake House' co-stars Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, who won for Best Movie Liplock for their long smooch in "The Lake House," joked backstage about their first respective kisses. "I started out young. I was making out at 9 years old like a bandit," said Bullock, who added that she "didn't like being a teenager at all." Reese Witherspoon, who won Best Actress in a Drama for her role in "Walk the Line," said backstage that her surfboard-shaped green and yellow award was going to her daughter. "I love the younger fans," said Witherspoon, who spent the summer hanging out with her kids. Girlish screams welcomed the handsome duo of Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp, who each snagged an award for their swashbuckling parts in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," which picked up seven honors. Nelly Furtado and Timbaland take the stage to perform their hit single, 'Promiscuous' Although Federline was the buzz of the night, other performers lit up the award ceremony with live musical numbers. After winning in the V Cast Music category, Nelly Furtado took center stage donned in snug-fitting jeans and a spangly black top to sing her hit song, "Promiscuous," with producer Timbaland. Even potentially uncomfortable moments were smudged with humor. "I just want to start off by saying, awkward, a little bit," said Nick Lachey, who won Choice Love Song for "What's Left of Me," his top-selling number recreating his publicized breakup with Simpson. Other musical performers included Breakout Female Musician winner Rihanna, who took home two surfboards during the evening's festivities. Giving advice for looking good, Choice Hottie winner Jessica Alba said, "If you truly want to be hot, be yourself."
TV_Paige
Nick, Jessica and Dane . . . Oh, My! Awkward! Nick Lachey won Choice Love Song for 'What's Left of Me' Jessica Simpson cohosted with rumored boytoy Dane Cook; Nick Lachey was on hand to pick up an award. Kevin Federline made his world premiere rapping debut; Wilmer Valderrama won something. The "2006 Teen Choice Awards" were all kinds of awkward. Lachey earned his surfboard in the category of Choice Music Love Song for "What's Left of Me," a ballad chronicling the fall-out from his marriage to Simpson. "I just want to start off by saying, awkward, a little bit," Lachey said accepting his award. Even more awkward: The very audible "Take that, Jessica" shouted from the crowd. It was Lachey's second award of the night, as he was also voted Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon, Male. His current paramour, MTV's Vanessa Minnillo, was up for a Choice TV Personality but lost out to Ashton Kutcher. But his ex didn't go home empty-handed. Simpson nabbed the Choice Movie Breakout, Female, award for her Daisy Duke-donning portrayal in "The Dukes of Hazzard." 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actors Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp picked up one of their seven award-winning surfboard booty Not for everyone, though--"Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest" continued to bulldoze all competition, nabbing a leading seven surfboards, the resident trophy, at Fox's youth-centric award show. Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom were both on hand to pick up the booty for their swashbuckling film. "Pirates of the Carribean" also took home surfboards for Choice Movie, Choice Rumble for Bloom's swordfighting with the Commodore, Choice Hissy Fit for Keira Knightley's pout and Choice Actor, Drama, for Depp, who also managed to take home the prize for Choice Actor, Comedy, for his creepy Michael Jackson-esque turn in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Other notable wins included Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock's nod for Choice Liplock for their "Lake House" smooches, while Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn nabbed Choice Movie Chemistry for "The Break-Up," which they accepted together via taped message. Wilmer Valderrama and Jessica Alba present a surfboard to a lucky recipient at the 2006 Teen Choice Awards Bloom and Jessica Alba took home the boards for Choice Hotties, with Alba taking the time to thank "all the photographers who have airbrushed me over the years." Wilmer Valderrama won for Choice TV Actor, Comedy, for Fox's defunct "That '70s Show." (Funny how Fox shows, even the canceled ones, dominated the Fox-based award show.) On the TV side, "The O.C." babes Rachel Bilson and Mischa Barton took home the Choice TV Actress, Drama, and Choice TV Actress awards, respectively, while Disney's surprise super hit, "High School Musical" took home three nods, for Choice TV Show, Choice TV Chemistry and Choice TV Breakout Star for Zac Efron. Fall Out Boy dominated the music scene, being named the Choice Music Rock Group and having "Dance, Dance" take home Choice Music Single and Choice Music Rock Track. Rihanna was named the Choice Music Breakout. Of course, there's already a prime contender for next year's title. Rihanna kisses one of her two surfboards for Choice R&B Artist and Choice Music Breakout Artist Kevin Federline made his performing world debut Sunday night, closing out the show with his upcoming single--from Federation Records, no less--"Lose Control." Wife Britney Spears was on hand to introduce her hubby. "This show has been very good to me and my career over the years," she said, chomping on her ever-present chewing gum. "And I'm hoping that it will be as good to our next performer." Federline's rap unsurprisingly included some choice lines about being a "superstar" and moving to "a new tax bracket." Surprisingly, the show-capping performance seems to be mildly well-received, with semi-praise begrudgingly heaped on the rapper for not making the performance the train wreck critics imagined--and maybe hoped for. "The Teen Choice Awards" were voted on by 14.7 million young'uns over the past two months, with the teens logging their votes online.
