2006 ACM Home Depot Humanitarian Award

VinceGill.jpg
Vince Gill

The Home Depot congratulates Vince Gill as the 2006 recipient of the Academy of Country Music/The Home Depot Humanitarian Award. This award demonstrates to country music fans those artists whose generosity and giving spirit have become an inspiration through their community service efforts and deeds.

The ACM Home Depot Humanitarian Award was created in 2002 to recognize an artist or group in the country music industry who is committed to serving others and who has a generosity of spirit and a dedication to helping build the dreams of those in need.

In addition to the recognition of Vince's effort, The Home Depot will be selecting their own Home Depot Hometown Hero, which acknowledges the efforts of an extraordinary citizen and the community efforts they lead in their own hometown.

This contest will allow participants to nominate themselves or a member of their community and the winner selected will receive a trip to the 2007 Academy of Country Music Awards and also be invited to build a KaBOOM! playground with Vince and other members of Team Depot.

Thanks H8ts for covering the ACM's. I'm not much of a country music fan but, since that is what my husband listens to I've been "converted" (aka forced) into listening to a lot of this music. Don't worry I force him to listen to my music too... hahaha. :D

Anyways, when I first started listening to this music and watching these shows I really didn't like Brooks and Dunne all that much. It just seemed unfair that they won every single year and there wasn't any competition in their category. After years of tuning out this music when it was on, I started to listen a few years ago and I heard WHY B & D were so popular.

They blew me away with their new song called "Believe" last night... I heard it on one of the award shows earlier this year but, what they did last night was a musical event... did anyone else hear it/see it?

Absolutely amazing performance, vocals and song. I'm so glad I started appreciating their music before I missed this performance. (Usually my husband watches these shows and I just pop in when there's an artist I want to see perform.)
