Has anyone been watching?? Ive seen the first two episodes, and will catch the re-airing of the third this Wednesday.

HBO OnDemand, posts the next new episode a week before it airs availble for free, FYI

Also, anyone know what the deal with 3 Veronica Mars teens in this Show??

-Lilly Cain - Plays the daughter of the first wife, who does not agree with polygimy

-Dick's Little Brother (cant remember his name) - Plays a son in another family of polygimists

-Veronica Computer Smart friend, Mack (i think is her name) - plays a morman girl who works at a burger place with Lilly Cain

Do we have the same director, maybe casting for these shows? Im gonna keep an eye out for more people from Neptune in Morman Utah.

Big Love

There comes a point in every new series, one hopes, where it moves from showing potential to actually getting interesting, when you click over from merely being intrigued to feeling something (good or bad) for the characters. I think Big Love hit that mark this week, as we began to see these people fleshed out: Margene as a basically lovable but naive kid, Barbara as a caring person with a bit of a guilty side, and Nicki as a loathsome spendthrift whom I've hated from Day 1. Seeing her prepare for poor little Wayne's party (which was, of course, all about her, not the kid), certainly didn't make me like her any more. (Saddest moment: Wayne asking Barbara if his mother invited any children to his party. Well, that and Rhonda remembering what it was like to be a kid when talking to Sarah.) Anyway, the more interesting questions we have to ask after this week include why Roman had to help Bill out because of Barbara, what kind of creepiness is going on between Roman and Nicki, what's the deal with Joe's feelings for Barbara, and my own personal big question, why the hell would Bill and his wives think any new neighbors wouldn't quickly figure out something fishy's going on in their houses?

Oh, and I just got the joke in the name of Bill's store, Henderson Home Plus. Yes, I can be a little slow that way.

Ever wonder if we're ever going to get a chance to see Nicki's good side? Keep wondering, then, since we're sure not seeing it this week. Nothing like a shopaholic wife who runs up your bills, ignores collection-agency calls, mistreats your other wives (well, none of us can relate to that one, but you know what I mean) and goes to her evil dad for help, thus exposing you to even more downside. Her one mitigating move for the night is helping Ben with his embarrassing-sheets problem, but I'm betting she'll use that knowledge to some bad end, too.

In other areas, isn't Teeny just about the cutest kid you've seen on TV in a while? I know that's why they cast her, of course, but still... who couldn't love her jumping around the back yard in her moon costume, banging pots and pans with Barb and Margene? Probably about as many as those who couldn't hate Nicki after seeing her ignore Suze Orman's advice about owning up to Bill on the debt, and then watching her add her charges up and realizing she owes nearly $60,000. Yowtch. ("People first, then money, then things," says Orman, who obviously has no idea who she's talking to.) And speaking of yowtch, memo to Sarah: Lay off the cough syrup. Memo to Bill: Watch our for wolves that look like Harry Dean Stanton. And memo to the rest of you: See you next week.

April 9, 2006: Affair

Ah, answered questions. Which wife does Bill love the most? I knew which one he should, of course, but now we see he's got some sense: Barb. It's kind of sweet to see them sneaking off together, ain't it? Provided you're not Nicki or Margene, of course. Then again, "sweet" doesn't apply to Nicki, of course.

A few random thoughts here. Bill starts off struggling to talk to Barb on the cell while talking to the pharmacy about his Viagra prescription. Me, I'm no phone guy. Hate 'em. Even one, never mind two. Just ask the friends who try to get a hold of me on my cell, which is never on and only exists so my wife and I can get a hold of each other when we need to. Think of it as a very expensive walkie-talkie. The short version: cut back on the phone stuff, Bill; you'll be so damned happy you did. Also, I love that Don calls the "polygamy czar" to give up Roman's operation. I want that title. Now. I don't want the job, mind you; I just want "polygamy czar" on a business card. And Barb cries when Bill puts Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" on. I'd cry, too, but for vastly different reasons. Still, it's sweet.

But there's plenty of stupidity to go around here, too. Why, oh, why would Bill take the motel soap and toss the wrapper in a place Nicki could find it? Also, while I hate to agree with Nicki on anything, she has a point when she says sweet-but-dim Margene's the weak link. Gulf War indeed.

Then we're off to one more answer and one more question. With Nicki revealed as ever more miserable with each week, I've often wondered why Bill married her to begin with. Alby answers that one: to get the loan from Roman. And when Nicki tells the rest of the family she's pregnant, you can see from Bill's reaction that, whatever his reasons for putting a ring on her finger, love isn't one of them. But that leaves us with another big puzzler. Is she?

April 16, 2006: Roberta's Funeral

Anyone out there not agree that the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" is one of the greatest songs ever? Just asking. Moving right along...

Here's a nice touch, albeit a sadly morbid, nightmarish one when you consider that our worst fear is that when we die, no one will care: an episode about Roberta's funeral that's about everything but Roberta. Lois wants Frank to make her first wife, Bill uses the funeral as an excuse to visit Roman, and Frank uses it as an excuse to stick it to Lois. Nice.

Then again, lying and subterfuge flies around the Henrickson house pretty easy, doesn't it? Nicki, having sex with Bill, wishes out loud for a boy. Then she pops a birth-control pill, but only after playing with Barb and prompting Barb to continue to pretend she's not having an affair with her own husband. See? Easy. Just like it's easy to see trouble a-headed down the tracks toward the Henrickson households as Ben flirts with Margene and she, innocently or not, flirts right back. (And oh, his face, when she gave him a hug.)

As for the awards of the week, Bill and Barb get the determination award for managing to carry on their affair over the phone, and Nicki gets the stupid award for exposing them all to Wendy the nosy manager (making Margene's friendship with Pam look like a minor infraction). Yup, I still hate Nicki. I wonder what's gonna happen with Lois, who said Frank won't be around much longer, and I wonder, too, what's gonna happen once Bill realizes he was more prescient than he knew when he said Ben has a big heart and they need to keep an eye on it. Oh, yes, they do at that.

true, i dont think shes enjoying the lifestyle

no, the poor girl is starving for attention! i'd like to see a "back in time" episode showing how he met barb and married her and then how each subsequent(sp) wife was met and added.

i think in due time we'll figure it out.

Apparently, Barb seemed to have been sick, and Nicki seemed kind of arranged as a deal with Roman. Margie just added herself in basically. I really really like Margie, and i do Barb. The actors who play Bill and Barb do an awesome job, you can almost feel thier love and lust for one another. More so for her than the other girls.

I'm watching this too. :) I want Bill and Barb together too but, I don't want Margie to get hurt. I'm thinking/hoping she finds someone at the LDS church first. I can't stand Nikki but, it would be a really interesting twist if Nikki married into the family for Barb and not Bill. We all think she's jealous of Bill's relationship with the other women but, maybe she fell in love with Barb while she took care of her and what she really wants is for Barb to love her? LOL... just throwing that out there... because of Sunday's eppy... LOL

I'm not sure what's up with the oldest daughter but, I think she sees that her mom/dad, barb/bill are in love with each other and she's questioning why her mom would agree to this lifestyle. I think her friend is going to be a catalyst in her deciding what it is she wants with her life. Poligamy or not?

Also, the oldest son... what's up with him and Margie... is there sexual tension there or what??? I kinda feel bad for him... he's trying to hard to be a "good" mormon boy but, adolesence is getting in the way... lol

I love this show. As I don't have cable or satellite, I have someone who tapes it for me (yes, tape! I live in the dark ages of vcr's), so I only get to see them occasionally. Good show though! and I look forward to seeing it.

I thought the third wife's name was Margeen....it's Margie?

I agree with scuba that it would be very interesting to see a show on how all of it began. I guess Nikki didn't know that she was 'traded', and that was just thrown out there by the son...I'm sure there is more to that story.

I also find the story with the older children interesting. They were just thrown into this new lifestyle and now have to decide for themselves if it's for them. It's terribly hard for them to keep it a secret. I'm glad the older daughter has a friend that she can confide in, but I think there will be a big story there regarding that friend.

The oldest son is so into Margie. Does nobody in that family notice that? His hormones scream at her! AND poor Margie is so starved for any attention at all. She started being friends with the neighbor (who is also screaming for attention), and they really don't have much in common. Of course, how would she, with only one husband. LOL

I was happy to see the show when Bill couldn't get enough of Barb. That didn't last long with Nikki putting them all in there places with her wanting to have a baby now. Poor Barb...I really think she'd rather just be into monogamy.

This show really holds my attention. Love it! Are there lesbian polygamists? Don't think I'd want to be one. I'd have to be the head of the family and that just wouldn't have a good outcome, I'm sure.
