TV_Paige Posted December 1, 2005 Share Posted December 1, 2005 'She Made It' Celebrates Broadcast Women Lucille Ball, Julia Child and Katie Couric are among the 2005 Honorees for 'She Made It: Women Creating Television and Radio' What do Katie Couric, Lucille Ball and Julia Child have in common? The work of each of these women is being honored by the Museum of Television & Radio as part of a display about the most influential women creators in television and radio. Honorees include writers, directors, producers, journalists, sportscasters and executives. "She Made It: Women Creating Television and Radio" is a three-year project to build a unique collection of television and radio programming that celebrates the achievements and preserves the legacy of great women. Visitors to the museums in New York and Los Angeles will be able to see examples of their work in the exhibit. A reception in their honor will be held at the museum's New York chapter. 'She Made It' recognizes the early female trailblazers, the current level of power and prominence women have in the industry and the exciting potential for new generations of women entering the business in the twenty-first century. 'She Made It' will present a dynamic calendar of activities in New York and Los Angeles. 'She Made It' will also offer a screening series and a website, www.shemadeit.org. The project will include special panel discussions for the public and a university satellite audience. The Robert M. Batscha University Satellite Seminars Series is sent via satellite to universities and colleges across the country. These seminars include a live question-and-answer session between panelists and the off-site audience. This series is offered free of charge to universities. The 'She Made It' collection launched on December 1 celebrating the works of journalists Diane Sawyer and Barbara Walters, talk-show hosts Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey, pioneering executives Oxygen's Geraldine Laybourne and MTV's Judy McGrath and producers Marcy Carsey and Diane English.
