Over 600 racers have competed in 32 trips around the world, travelling over 1,000,000 miles in over 90 countries, and they have been challenged by tasks, detours and roadblocks. But until Season 33, no The Amazing Race teams have ever had to face a pandemic. The season began filming in February 2020, but production was halted by the end of the month as the SARS-CoV-2 virus began spreading through Europe and around the world, even before most Americans were aware. Teams were sent home with a promise to resume the race when possible. It would not be until the fall of 2021 that production and the race would resume, and the teams were able to finish what they started - the journey of their lifetimes. Season 33 begins with each contestant from their homes and then having to get to London. After that they head off to Scotland. This is where things get tricky, however. As he has done since the very beginning, Phil Keoghan will once again serve as the host. The Amazing Race premiers on CBS January 5th, 2022 and is also available on Paramount+ and OTT streaming services carrying CBS.
