  1. I guess Beau and Marcellas weren't interested in another round of 'I'm the bigger diva' But wasn't there something about all the friendships' families giving Gretchen and Marcellas cold stares at the wrap party? You would think CBS would have some pull in getting them back to do housecalls, but maybe they've decided to boycott or something. Hopefully they think fishbowl.com will be more accepting or something because they've had 'villains' on in the past who have done great interviews.
  2. Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You Many thank yous to all of you who so generously offered to share your time, talent and humor with those of us who did not have the time, spare funds, or patience (I have attention deficit disorder) to follow all 16 weeks of 24/7 BB game play in real time. You made it possible for people like me to keep up to date with what was happening so that I could actively participate on Morty's wonderful boards. Without your help, my 500 posts of fun would not have been possible. Many thanks once again! Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You Thank You
  3. Ah ha - he responded Marcellas put the show ahead of himself. I think that was very selfless. HI MARCELLAS!!!!! Love Housecalls
  4. Oh, bummer gimmerighttime. And those are the two positions that you really can't make out. But it does sound like Beau is gone, although yes I too wish it had been awful Ivette over Beau
  5. Wow Yana, you're FAST! I'm still trying to find the photo software on my computer - ha ha
  6. Yes, meathead, overly critical, non-sensical and too into himself - great summary folks He was also criticizing viewers last week for hating him for always fighting with Diane, but loving Kaysar even though he got in that kafuffle with Ivette on fight night. But from this week's post, it sounds like he got a lot of flack for that
  7. Anybody know where Beau's picture was positioned on the houseguest board? You can kind of make out in the background of the lower left-hand corner which pictures are black and white and which are color - then we would know for sure that he has been evicted (though it looks pretty certain already)
  8. I too was 2cheap2buy the feeds, but thought I could pull a fast one on Real by signing up for the free trial then cancelling. The fast one ended up being pulled on me because the 3 day trial was enough the get me hooked and rationalizing that it was only $24.99 for a couple of months of fun . . . damn those sneaky bastards at Real Player! Anyway . . . even though I've only had the feeds for something like 6 days, the first time I heard James talk to Sarah I was SHOCKED. Everybody's talked about how he doesn't treat her well, and I've been reading the feeds, but you have to hear it to really appreciate how little respect he has for her thoughts and opinions. CBS hasn't shown any of that sort of talk at all - I mean, they've showed him saying some things, but those could have been game-related. When you hear the way he talks to her on the feeds, there's no excuse. Her parents seemed really great in that segment they showed a couple of weeks ago - I do believe they're doing what's best for Sara by not just telling her what she is hoping to hear.
  9. Ha ha - that's funny Except this time we get to vote as many times as we want, and Kaysar fans are totally psyched about getting in their vote. (Plus Kaysar is almost 3x as popular as Crappy in the latest CBS poll)
  10. I know! I think Ivette's got some issues when it comes to men (of course that's just the least of her issues it would appear )
  11. (This is off-topic, sorry) I guess it's true that our strongest points can also be our not-so great points at the same time. I'm usually very emathetic (empathetic enough that most of the time I can appreciate somebody's passionate nature) - I can also be extremely sensitive (sensitive in a bad way - sensitive enough to blurt out a comment to somebody about them being arrogant). Guess these boards can bring out both the best and worst of us all - but isn't that what makes them so much fun
  12. Yeah, you're probably right - aren't ratings actually up this year? I think it's because of Eric! I will say this about him - he was certainly never boring
  13. Hi everybody: I may be wrong about this (but I don't think so - ha ha - nobody every really means it when they say that do they?). Anyway . . . First Amendment does protect freedom of speech REALLY broadly - meaning it isn't even illegal to stick a burning cross in a black person's yard (can you believe that? The US Supreme Court said so). In fact ALL hate speech is protected under the 1st A unless there is something like an imminent threat of harm (ie the hate speech has to be said directly in the person's face - governments are allowed to make this kind of behavior a crime). That being said, I think the First Amendment only applies to government agencies, like the FCC. Since CBS is a private corporation, they are not legally obligated to protect anyone's freedom of speech - ie they are not legally required to provide Ivette with a platform the way a city must if Ivette wants to hold a parade with placards expressing her views. I believe the only way the 1A applies to 'free' cable networks is indirectly through FCC regulation. This part I'm really not sure on, but I think the FCC largely tells CBS what they cannot show in order to protect children, not what the have to show in order to be fair, democratic, etc. The thrust of this is that your complaints, both for and against letting Ivette speak in all her disgustingly intolerant hateful manner, probably matter a lot to a for-profit corporation like CBS because they only exist to appease their consumers. But cancelling the livefeed should be the most impactful way to make a statement against Ivette/censorship because it would be in $. PS This might not be fair, but you could also tell CBS that you also intend to write to the sponsors of the tv portion of BB to let them know that a person who has expressed certain views may be profiting from their sponsorship (or conversely that a person was prevented from fully participating in BB under their sponsorship because of censorship) - I don't necessarily endorse this method of complaint, just pointing out it might be a tactic some of you might believe is appropriate. PPS Hope I'm not breaking up the rhythm of this thread the way I did yesterday with the other thread - sorry about that (it's that darn ADHD) PPS Chryon1 - please accept my apology for indirectly calling you arrogant yesterday - not my best moment
  14. Okay, I just have to point out that 'assume' and 'speculate' are precisely the right words to use to describe your personal opinion of Shockalot, because the thrust of your argument of why he is an 'idiot' and a 'moron' is that he is because you are reasonable and he is not. That's circular logic. Note: I Personally prefer asking people for information before conducting research into a topic because nobody can possibly know everything there is to know about everything. You can potentially save yourself hours of time by getting an answer to your question from people who have already conducted that research and have synthesized the information into basic issues and conclusions. How is that not reasonable?
  15. Hey, what's happening to the quotage in this thread? And woah, woah, woah . . . what's happening with this thread? Chyron1 - basically, I agree with your position that usage of the n-word is never appropriate, but your post about my post uses the logic that if I don't agree with your opinion that Shockalot is looking for excuses to use the words, then I must not have read the sequence of posts. That is a false conclusion, because I did in fact read the sequence of posts. My larger point being that if your logic is faulty with me, you logic could also be faulty when it comes to others. I could say you were a little presumptuous when it came to judging me as lacking thoroughness, but I won't Haven't you ever put your foot in your mouth when you were really just interested in finding out about a different culture?
  16. Shockalot: Personally, I don't see anything racist in your questions, just intellectual curiosity, so I think it's presumptuous to assume you're looking for excuses to use the term. I think your selection of quotes touch on another sub-debate within the African American culture. Bill Cosby made a similar argument to the one below, and many blacks consider him racist. And your Chris Rock quote conflicts with what I'd heard about blacks calling other blacks the N-word, but your quote does in fact point out that the N-word is considered a huge insult. I'm not following the logic of the following conclusion based on the rap quote - was that his rap, or was that somebody else's rap talking about him? Did 50Cent call somebody a N-word in this rap? All I can conclude is that anybody who chooses to use the N-word, even if they believe they're using it in an appropriate, socially-sanctioned manner, is bound to face some angry accusations of being a racist by people who believe its usage is never appropriate. I'd also point out that you've quoted 3 of maybe 100 blacks in the US who have succeed in attaining fame and wealth through creative endeavors, one of whom states that calling somebody the n-word is a real insult. There's about 39,999,900 (the vast majority), who may see things differently from the other 2 and who largely don't have a voice in mainstream America. I would guess that if you were to visit rural Mississippi and try to use the N-word in an appropriate manner, both blacks and whites would run you out of town.
  17. I can't speak for everybody, but usage of the entire word is considered in poor taste because the N-word was often used by slavemasters to dehumanize slaves and break their spirit during their 250 years of oppression so that they would not have the initiative to run away or stage a revolt. This is a time in history where human beings were legally defined as property, and were legally bought and sold, chained, beaten, raped, and murdered, sometimes for ridiculous reasons. Just saying or writing the word brings back that ugly part of history to a country that is still largely segregated both geographically and economically, so writing or speaking it is considered incredibly insensitive or possibly even a hostile act. Rappers apparently use the term amongst themselves as a way of desensitizing each other from its loaded meaning, so that when they eventually have it used on them, they are better able to shrug it off and stay level-headed. Does everybody agree with this explanation of why full usage of the n-word is not cool?
  18. Kay, I adore Kaysar, but even I"D have a problem with that. Of course if someone had to get kicked out for breaking rules....well I'd have no complaints there... edit: I'm kidding by the way...no one get pissy. NOT a problem whatsoever
  19. OMG - just opened this thread for the first time to check out what all the fuss was about . . . HI MARCELLAS!!!!!! Thought you did a fantastic job in keeping your cool with Cappy Crappy. You also did an amazing job of putting him in his place. This was the first time I've ever watched housecalls, and loved it so much I'm going to watch it from now on. Please add me to the plus column of fans you've gained PS Say hi to AMY for me!!!!! And LISA!!!!!
  20. omg - especially if it was Maggie that deliberately left his meat out to spoil. That'd be cool if they had to switch places . . . Kaysar becomes HOH, Maggie goes on the block. If only . . .
  21. ha ha ha! But I am surprised no one's pointed out that from the back, Ivette looked like a street hooker with those 4" heels and the skirt that barely covered her ass. The back cameraman must have gotten an eyeful when she bent over to do her skeeball thing. (okay that was so catty of me to say . . . I just really don't like her that much)
  22. omg - Janelle is gorgeous. But funny, before this show started I thought Ivette was the most stunning . . . then she opened her mouth and everything changed. Quite frankly, all the houseguests are like a 9 or 10 in the looks department except for Eric who's about a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10. I mean, they're all so good-looking (Eric excepted) that you can't help but feel the need to comment on their appearances. I actually kind of felt sorry for him when I saw who he had to live with, because he's the kind of person that gets evaluated on his personality and we all know that his kind of sucks.
  23. The bigger jury thing was what I was thinking, but CajunBoiler, I think you could be right - a smart idea, since some of the biggest threads get voted out the first couple of weeks. I also agree with your assessment of April and Jen - ha ha, so true
  24. Oh, I thought Jase and Holly were cute together - and they lasted about 9 3/4 months longer than anybody expected them to Jase also added that Holly was a city girl and he was a country boy at heart, and so he has moved back to Georgia. They both seem very happy, which is nice.
