I believe it's called a coping mechanism. Anyway, I enjoy the season more if I refrain from picking a favorite & defending everything about them while bashing the others. But that's just ME. People can get pretty attached to their favorite HG and just cannot handle anything negative said about them. I think it was worst during the Jordan years. You could not say anything negative about her without a group of folks counter attacking. I think everyone should post what ever they feel about the HG and if someone feels the need to counter attack you on a personal level, ignore them and they will generally go away. What we had more this year than any other year (that I remember) is the long lecture posts that implied anyone who said anything negative about her were deeply flawed people. And the long lectures about racism. If anyone dared to discuss Aaryn's game play, some follow up posts would say all the posters at Morty's worshiped Aaryn. From all the posts I have read, other than the Elissa fanatics, most disliked every one of them, either for their lack of game or their nasty selves.
