I may catch 'The Talk' 2 or 3 times a year.

Today I was trying to find something to watch and I happened across the show.

This weeks main subject happens to be SECRETS. The panel was exposing things about themselves that they

normally wouldn't 'TALK' about. (you get the idea)

Well it happened to be Julie's turn today. She started to tell her story about very early in her career when a producer

said he doubted she could become an Anchor Person because of her Asian looks.

Here's her story http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/celeb-news/julie-chen-big-reveal-ve-had-plastic-surgery-190151600.html

make of it what you will.

It does show being discriminated against because of your heritage and looks is a sensitive subject....

hmmm perfect timing for this type of show :animated_scratchchin:

I hope against hope that Aaryn isn't the only one that gets some warning from Julie as they're evicted.

Amanda got off waaay too easy.

Yeah, she is going to play this one for all it's worth.

The funny thing is when you are in Chinatown in Manhattan the store owners are really nasty to anyone who is not Chinese.

I guess everyone has past experiences that they relate to.

Last year my grandaughter (who lives in N.Y.) took me to Chinatown and we went

in a few shops... didn't notice being treated any differently than in any other

stores we went to.

lol... although we did run into a few snotty salesgirls in some upscale clothing shops.

Good and bad in all walks of life. I just ignore the bad ones (not worth wasting energy on them)

The Chinatown I refered to does not have "upscale" shops.

Chinese people are good business people and would not insult a customer and depend, in Chinatown, on the tourist trade, so another reason they would not act badly to someone not Chinese. The only exception is Chinese herb or book stores which have only Chinese signs. They are there only for Chinese customers or those who speak and read Chinese, so it is not racial but a matter of knowing the culture.

GingerSnaps : " The Chinatown I refered to does not have "upscale" shops. "

ooops ... forgot to preface the upscale clothing shops were in mid-town... not Chinatown.

Again... you can run into all types of people... good and bad... doesn't have to be in a specific area.
