'Pie' Star Faces Third Arrest

lyonne.jpg

Natasha Lyonne

Once again, Natasha Lyonne is a wanted woman for all the wrong reasons. The onetime "American Pie" star, who has publicly fallen on hard times in recent years, has yet another warrant out for her arrest, after she failed to appear at a court date on Friday, January 20, the New York Post reports.

Lyonne is facing a number of charges, including her alleged threat to sexually molest her former neighbor's dog during a 2004 altercation. She is also charged with criminal mischief, harassment and trespassing.

Friday's hearing was rescheduled after the actress missed court dates earlier in the week. Last Monday, her lawyer explained to the judge that "an emergency has come up," but confessed that he did not know what the emergency was.

The latest absence marks the fourth time Lyonne has missed a court date and the third time a bench warrant has been issued for her arrest. The most recent warrant against the troubled actress was cleared up after it was revealed she spent most of the summer being treated at a New York hospital for hepatitis C, a heart infection and a collapsed lung.

Per the Post, the actress was also receiving methadone, a drug commonly used to combat heroin addiction. A source familiar with the case told the newspaper that Lyonne's arms were covered with needle tracks at the time she was admitted to the hospital.

Lyonne reportedly entered the hospital following a stint at a psychiatric facility. Before that, she was believed to be living on the street, according to the Post article. The actress recovered sufficiently to leave the hospital, but has apparently returned to her prior address of whereabouts unknown.

"I'm crying actually. It's terrible, you know. It's my little girl," Lyonne's father, Aaron Braunstein, told "Access Hollywood" at the time. "It's a terrible tragedy, but she's going to get better. We're praying for her and she's a tough girl."

George Michael Arrested in Drugs Probe

GeorgeMichael_N.jpg

George Michael

LONDON - British singer George Michael was arrested on Sunday, February 26 on suspicion of possessing drugs after he was found slumped in a car in central London, a police source said. Michael, 42, who has sold more than 80 million records worldwide during a 25-year career, was arrested in the Hyde Park area of the capital early on Sunday, the source said.

A London police spokesman issued a statement saying a 42-year-old man had been held on suspicion of possessing Class C drugs, a group in British law that includes cannabis, tranquilizers and some painkillers.

"We were called by a member of the public to a man seen slumped over the steering wheel of a car," the statement said. "He was arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances." He was bailed to return to a police station in late March pending a police investigation.

Michael's manager and publicist could not be reached for comment. Under British law, anyone convicted of having Class C drugs can be jailed for up to two years and face an unlimited fine, according to the Home Office (interior ministry) Web site.

In a front page report, The Sun newspaper said the singer was found in a dark-colored Range Rover parked on Hyde Park Corner, one of central London's busiest intersections. The unsourced report said he was taken into police custody and was examined by a doctor. He had his photograph and fingerprints taken and was released after more than seven hours, the report said.

It is not the star's first brush with the law. Michael was arrested in April, 1998, for engaging in a "lewd act" in a public toilet in Los Angeles, after which he ended years of speculation by announcing that he was gay.

He told Reuters in an interview last year that he was giving up the world of pop, saying he found the media attention and celebrity "unbearable." The singer had a string of hits in the 1980s with the band, Wham! before forging a successful solo career with albums such as "Faith" and "Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1."

His Brazilian boyfriend Anselmo Feleppa died of an AIDS-related condition in 1993, and Michael fought a legal battle with his record label Sony in the early 1990s before being bought out in a deal reported to be worth $40 million.

Naomi Campbell 'Reaches Out and Touches' Maid

naomi_c_NT_.jpg

Naomi Campbell

Supermodel Naomi Campbell was charged with assault for throwing her cell phone at a housekeeper after accusing her of stealing clothes when she couldn't find a pair of jeans she wanted to wear on "Oprah," prosecutors said. She was released on her own recognizance and allowed to keep her passport.

Campbell's lawyer argued that her famous face would prevent her from fleeing. "She is probably the most recognized and prominent model in the world," defense attorney David Breitbart told a judge Thursday in Manhattan Criminal Court. "There is no place she could go and not be recognized."

Campbell, wearing a white fur poncho, was arraigned on a charge of second-degree assault before Judge Richard Weinberg, who allowed Breitbart to enter a plea of not guilty on her behalf. The housekeeper was treated at a hospital for a cut that required four staples, said Assistant District Attorney Elina Kreditor.

image_1844025.jpg

Kreditor asked the judge to set bail at $3,500 and to order Campbell, who is British, to surrender her passport. Breitbart called the request for $3,500 bail "an insult," saying his client's Park Avenue apartment is worth more than $3 million and she earns "more than six figures on a regular basis."

Breitbart said Campbell needed her passport for a trip to South Africa next week to visit Nelson Mandela. He asked the judge for orders to keep the housekeeper away from Campbell's apartment. The judge said the housekeeper, Ana Scolavino, would have to give up her key to the apartment.

The judge issued an order of protection against Campbell, telling her she could have no contact with the employee. He scheduled her next court appearance for June 27.

The assault took place at about 8:30 a.m. inside Campbell's apartment, according to a criminal complaint. The housekeeper was hit in the back of the head and was treated at Lenox Hill Hospital, it said. Campbell was taken into custody shortly after police responded to the hospital to investigate the reported attack.

Facing a familiar sea of cameras, Campbell exited a Manhattan police station shortly after 4 p.m. in a scene that was part runway, part perp walk. Scores of photographers, reporters and film crews had gathered to record her departure; she responded by flashing a quick smile.

In a statement, a Campbell spokesman said the supermodel was not responsible for any assault. "We believe this is a case of retaliation, because Naomi had fired her housekeeper earlier this morning," said the statement from J.R. Johnson. "We are confident the courts will see it the same way."

This was not the first time the volatile Campbell, 35, was accused of reaching out and touching someone with a phone. In 2003, the supermodel was sued by a former administrative assistant who said Campbell had thrown a phone at her during a tantrum two years earlier.

1324239.jpg

Naomi Campbell

In August 2004, in the same apartment, Campbell and her maid battled it out, with the worker claiming the supermodel slapped her across the face. Campbell accused maid Millicent Burton of instigating the fight.

Campbell was discovered at age 15 and launched a career that landed her in magazines worldwide including the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Campbell's high-profile lifestyle has included appearances in music videos by George Michael and Jay-Z and a close friendship with Mandela. The international modeling sensation has appeared in several films and dabbled in a musical career.

The mercurial Campbell has a reputation for angry outbursts and abusive behavior. She pleaded guilty in Toronto to an assault charge for beating another assistant while making a film in Canada in 1998. She also battled a cocaine addiction before reportedly getting straight several years ago.

Melanie Griffith Faces 'Suit' by Designer

A designer sued Melanie Griffith for allegedly refusing to pay nearly $26,000 for dressing the actress and her daughters for the Golden Globes Awards and reneging on a promise to mention his name on the red carpet. The lawsuit was filed on Friday, April 7 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Designer Niklas J. Palm claimed he designed dresses for Griffith and her daughters Dakota Johnson and Stella Banderas to wear to the January event. Palm said he submitted a $25,960 bill on January 16 and Griffith was overdue in making any payments. He also claimed Griffith and her daughters backed out of their promise to mention his name to reporters.

Griffith promised "that he will receive publicity that money could not buy, then conveniently forgot his name when reporters on the red carpet specifically asked who designed her beautiful gown taking credit for the gown herself," the lawsuit said.

Calls made after business hours Friday to Griffith's attorney and publicist were not immediately returned. The lawsuit claimed breach of oral and written contract and intentional misrepresentation. It also names Griffith's husband, Antonio Banderas and their production companies as defendants.

Palm was part of a costume design team that won a 2004 Emmy award for their work on the HBO series, "Carnivale." The lawsuit said he met Griffith last August when he dressed her for an appearance on a pilates exercise video infomercial.

Sheen and Richards in 'Scary Divorce'

richards_sheen2.jpg

Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen

A judge issued a temporary restraining order on Friday, April 21, requiring Charlie Sheen to stay away from his estranged wife, Denise Richards. Sheen was ordered to stay at least 300 feet from Richards, her home, her car and their two young daughters except during supervised visits with the children.

According to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the judge granted Sheen one-day-per-week visits with daughters, 2-year-old Sam and 10-month-old Lola and scheduled another hearing for May 12.

The court papers include a 17-page declaration by Richards alleging that Sheen pushed her, shoved her and made threats against her and her parents. They also include transcriptions of telephone messages Richards said were left by Sheen in April 2005.

Sheen denied the allegations and the judge granted his request that he and Richards be allowed to tape record telephone conversations with each other. In a declaration signed Thursday, April 20, he said he and Richards had agreed to undergo counseling to "address parenting issues."

Sheen added it was to "establish a mutually acceptable custody schedule," but that Richards stopped participating after two sessions. He also alleged that he had been seeking overnight visits with the children but that last week, Richards "abruptly refused" to allow him any contact with them.

"I deeply regret her response to my request for the court to decide what's best for our children has taken the form of baseless allegations that I deny," the 40-year-old actor said in a statement. A call to Richards' spokeswoman was not immediately returned Friday.

Richards filed for divorce in March after three years of marriage. The relationship appeared to dissolve in the public eye just months before the 35-year-old actress gave birth to the couple's second child in June. Then, after the second birth, the couple appeared to be on the road to reconciliation.

In November, Sheen flashed his wedding ring on CBS' "Late Late Show," telling host Craig Ferguson "things are really good." Richards and Sheen met while shooting the independent film, "Good Advice" in 2000 and appeared in 2003's "Scary Movie 3."

Sheen stars in the CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men." His screen credits include "Platoon," "Wall Street" and the "Hot Shots!" movies. Richards also appeared in the James Bond movie, "The World Is Not Enough," "Wild Things" and "Starship Troopers."

Ex-'Sports Illustrated' Model Arrested

modelimage_may_00.jpgmayandersen.jpg

Sports Illustrated Model May Andersen . . . from glamour shot to mug shot

Former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model May Andersen was arrested after allegedly becoming unruly and striking a flight attendant on a plane from Amsterdam to Miami, police said. Andersen, 23, from Denmark continued being loud and violent after officers met Martinair Flight 643 on the ground Thursday, April 20, Miami-Dade Airport Police said.

She was examined for alcohol and substance abuse at Jackson Memorial Hospital and later transported to the Miami-Dade County Jail. She has a hold for immigration, which means no bail has been set. She cannot be released until immigration lifts it, said Janelle Hall, a corrections spokeswoman.

The alleged behavior is not typical for Andersen, said executives at Elite Models, the agency representing her. "Our experience with her has been wonderful," Elite director Cathy Gould said, adding said she has never received a complaint about the model from any clients.

Andersen was set to attend a bond hearing Saturday, April 22. It was not immediately known whether she had an attorney.

'Lost' Actress Does Time Over Service

by Jaymes Song

michelle_rodriguez.jpg

Michelle Rodriguez

HONOLULU, Hawaii - "Lost" star Michelle Rodriguez surrendered to authorities on Tuesday, April 25 to begin a five-day jail sentence for drunken driving. Rodriguez, who portrays police officer Ana Lucia, opted for jail time and a $500 fine rather than 240 hours of community service.

"I kind of have to get back to my life, go back to making some money," Rodriguez said outside the courtroom after pleading guilty to driving under the influence. "It kind of gave me a hard hit. . . . I'm human."

The 27-year-old Rodriguez and cast member Cynthia Watros were both charged with drunken driving after they were pulled over December 1 in separate cars within 15 minutes of each other.

michelle_rodriguez.jpg

Michelle Rodriguez

On Tuesday, the judge gave Rodriguez the option of jail time or community service. Carrying three books and dressed casually in a tank top and sweats, she surrendered to authorities at the Kaneohe District Court later in the day.

Choosing jail over community service was a "personal choice," said her attorney, Steve Barta. "I would suspect that because she has a hard time even going out for a meal without being intruded upon for an autograph or photograph, it's really difficult for her to do community service," he said.

Watros, who plays Libby on the ABC castaway drama, pleaded guilty to drunken driving in January and was fined $312, ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment and 14 hours of counseling. She also had her license suspended for 90 days.

michellerodriguez.jpg

Both Rodriguez and Watros were spotted weaving on a road in Kailua, on the island of Oahu, where "Lost" is filmed. Both failed field sobriety tests. Rodriguez recorded a blood-alcohol level of 0.145 percent, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08. Watros had a blood-alcohol level of 0.10.

Soon after, Rodriguez spent two weeks in a rehab clinic, her lawyer said. "She did recognize there was an issue to be dealt with. She, on her own, took care of it," he said. In 2004, Rodriguez pleaded no contest in Los Angeles to three traffic violations, including drunken driving.

Rodriguez completed a three-month alcohol program and is serving a three-year probation term. ABC spokesman Jeff Fordis said there would be no disruptions for "Lost." The season finale is being filmed this week and production is scheduled to be completed by May 5.

DMX Arrested After Flight Disturbance

sq_dmx_camo_8_05.jpg

DMX

Police arrested rap star DMX after he refused to put on a seat belt and became abusive on a flight from New York to London on Saturday, May 13, authorities said. The rapper received a caution and was released after his American Airlines flight landed at Heathrow Airport, police said.

The artist, whose real name is Earl Simmons, received the caution on condition of anonymity in line with departmental policy, according to police sources. A caution means a person has accepted responsibility for the offense and a record will be made.

DMX has had brushes with the authorities in the past. He completed a 70-day sentence late last year at New York's Rikers Island after pleading guilty to violating his parole following a 2004 incident in which he crashed his vehicle through an airport security gate.

The 35-year-old star was behind the 1999 hit single, "Party Up (Up In Here)" His last album was "Grand Champ" in 2003 but he is working on another to be released this summer.

Axl Rose and Tommy Hilfiger in Barroom Brawl

by Verena Dobnik

Designer Tommy Hilfiger and Guns N' Roses Axl Rose

NEW YORK, New York - It was a one-two encounter between Axl Rose and Tommy Hilfiger. The rocker and designer capped a Thursday evening out at a new club called The Plumm in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood with midnight fisticuffs. "There was an issue between the two of them," Noel Ashman, Plumm owner, told The Associated Press.

The scuffle reportedly started after the Guns N' Roses front man moved the drink of Hilfiger's girlfriend, Dee Ocleppo. "I moved his girlfriend's drink so it wouldn't spill," Rose told the Los Angeles radio station KROQ on Friday. "It was the most surreal thing, I think, that's ever happened to me in my life."

According to the 44-year-old singer, Hilfiger, 55, smacked him in the arm and told him to put the drink back. "He just kept smacking me," Rose said. Attempts to reach Hilfiger or a representative were not immediately successful.

At the time of the dustup, The Plumm was packed with a celebrity crowd including Lenny Kravitz, Mickey Rourke, Kid Rock, Peter Beard, Molly Simms, Wentworth Miller, Ann Dexter Jones, Lydia Hearst and Damon Dash.

Rose was there to play a surprise set for "Rent" actress Rosario Dawson for her 27th birthday party. Rose did perform and dedicated the song "You're Crazy" to "my good friend Tommy Hilfiger."

Singer Kevin Aviance Victim of Hate Crime

drag.jpg

Kevin Aviance

NEW YORK, New York - A singer whose songs have topped the Billboard dance chart was attacked by a group yelling anti-gay slurs, and four people were arrested on hate-crime charges, police and his publicist said. Kevin Aviance, 38, underwent surgery for a broken jaw after the attack, said his publicist, Len Evans. Police said the singer was in stable condition.

A group of six or seven men attacked Aviance early on Saturday, June 10, and passers-by did not stop to help as they threw objects at him, Evans said. Four people were arrested on charges of first-degree assault as a hate crime, police said. They were identified as Jarell Sears and Akino George, both 20, Gregory Archie, 18 and Gerard Johnson, 16.

Aviance performs in drag but was "dressed like a boy" when he was attacked, Evans said. The flamboyant singer, whose song, "Alive," hit the top of the chart in 2002, had planned to take part in next week's Gay Pride parade and festivities, but will now be unable to perform, the publicist said.

Other popular songs by the singer have included "Give It Up," released in 2004 and "Din Da Da," which topped the Billboard dance chart in 1997.

'Dog the Bounty Hunter' Arrested

He was taken in on kidnapping charges

September 14 2006

25385284.jpg

Duane 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' ChapmanDog the Bounty Hunter has been collared.

Duane Chapman, the reality TV star of A&E's "Dog the Bounty Hunter," was arrested Thursday morning (Sept. 14) in Hawaii, reports MSNBC. Son Leland Chapman and fellow bounty hunter Tim Chapman (no relation) were also arrested on kidnapping charges.

The report, which can be seen on MSNBC's website, says that an arrest warrant was issued in Washington, prompted by the Mexican government. The kidnapping charges stem from an incident back in 2003.

That year, Max Factor heir Andrew Luster was on the run for several months to avoid multiple counts of rape and ended up in Mexico where Duane "Dog" Chapman and his team apprehended him. Mexican authorities wanted Luster handed over to them, denied Chapman and his gang permission to leave the country, declared them fugitives from justice and tried to get them extradited to Mexico for sentencing. Even though the three Chapmans were held in jail for a few days, the charges were eventually dropped and they were released. Luster is currently serving a 124-year sentence.

It's uncertain why this incident has come back to haunt the wildly popular bounty hunter. Details are pending.

"Dog the Bounty Hunter" is in its third season on A&E and has gained a loyal following for its unconventional but charismatic star. The tattooed Chapman is an ex-con who turned a new leaf, embracing his faith and his calling to bring fugitives to justice. He's known for his gruff yet caring nature, often exhibited to those he captures.

This Just In: Lane Garrison Charged with Manslaughter

The Los Angeles district attorney's office confirms to TV Guide that Lane Garrison (formerly of Prison Break) is being charged with vehicular manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Vahagn Setian, who was a passenger in Garrison's car in December. In a statement, attorney Paul Kiesel says, "The Setian family is gratified by the charges brought by the Los Angeles district attorney's office. They have lost their only child due to the recklessness of Lane Garrison. The Setians will do all they can to assist the district attorney's office and ensure that justice is served. They hope this is a message to other public figures not to abuse drugs, alcohol or the public trust afforded to them by their fame. The family continues to appreciate the privacy and respect shown to them by the media."

No civil lawsuit has been filed by the Setians, who, Kiesel says, will not "disrupt the prosecution of Lane Garrison by the district attorney." Garrison's attorney, Harland Braun, was in court this morning, but his office says he has no statement yet.

Beverly Hills police previously determined Garrison was under the influence of cocaine and alcohol (his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit) when the vehicle he was driving

OK I have to ask, why was he with 2, 15 year old girls? I dont watch the show so I know nothing about him, but that seems weird. Also is it known if Vahagn Setian was under the influence too? I am only curious because he got into the car with Lane.. I dont know it just seems kind of weird, but I am glad his celebrity status didnt get him off.

I can only speculate that these kids were star struck and he was soaking it up? At least that's what I hope because it is creepy to think of him with kids so young. And yes, I agree, I'm glad his star status didn't get him off... of the crime... not get him off "get him off"...you know what I mean!
