Is BB over/finished after this season?

I don't feel that this is BB's last season. Because of all the drama that has taken place, the boot/dor of Chima, I feel more people are going to get involved in watching hoping to see a scene out of cops. SCENE: Its a hot, sweltering August night, tension in the air. approximately 1 AM LA Police get a call of possible domestic violence at CBS Studios. 2am La police swap team stand quard to remove irate reality player from the CBS site. She has threaten violence to anyone who comes near or touches her. The police have surrounded the building as they understand she may have made of bomb out of Play Doh" .... cut to commercial.......

Anyways...the buzz will catch on that there is so much intense drama, personality wacko changes due to confinement, that more people will tune in. People love to watch a good car chase on TV, they will love to watch a bunch of people going at each other verbally in hopes of physical violence....

Sad, but true.......

I do not get this the responses so far. Why is this season any different than the last couple? The HGs are upset, rebellious, etc... and BB works to calm them down. This has happened on every season. While I feel hypocritical stating this when I used America's choice to help Janelle during season 6, I can agree that BB over the years has manipulated the game so that the players get thrown huge curveballs that can ruin their game. There are valid arguments over this hinders or enhances the players gameplay. I am on the fence, but I do not believe BB is over based on this season. Now the Valentine BB, maybe? :-)

IMHO. recent events may be Big Brothers "jump the shark" moment and may signal the beginning of the end. Only time will tell.

CBS and the Big Brother production crew (CBS/BB) changed the course of BB11 with the Coup de'tat power. Sure, Jessie and his crew were picking off the others one-by-one, but Jeff/Jordan could've put an end to it by doing one simple thing...win HoH. Buuuuuut, since that was not happening, CBS/BB saw that their popular twosome was soon to be a jury-house-love-duo, they tossed in a timely coup de'tat power. Then CBS/BB gave the illusion of a "America's Choice" vote (come on, who REALLY thought anyone but Jeff or Jordan was going to be awarded the power) and presto, instant game-changer!

Obviously, I was not a fan of the "phenomenal cosmic coup de'tat power" (one for the Alladin fans :D ). Like Chima or not (for the record, I am not a fan of hers), she won HoH through a competition, not as a gift. Little did she know her reign as HoH was doomed to fail from the start. Had the Coup de'tat power been limited to the holder being allowed to remove/add only one nominee, I would have been more receptive. That way the HoH and the coup de'tat holder each have a chance to evict who they want. I still wish the coup de'tat had been won in a competition, but then again, I am the audience and not producing for ratings.

One more per peeve, and I will hush. ALL houseguests should be able to play for the PoV! I have hated this rule since CBS/BB made the change. Jessie (again, not a fan) had a right to be pissed off without a chance to save himself. If he had played in the PoV and then got evicted...good bye...do not let the door hit you on the way out! With $500,000 on the line, all houseguests should have an equal chance.

Oh well, enough ranting. I am still watching BB, but if the show is going to turn into a popularity contest and any more *coughcough* fixing goes on, I think I'll find something else to watch.

Jessie didn't have to do any thing to be HOH the first week so.... too bad so sad he didn't get to try for POV.

The players inside the house decided the competition that brought Jesse back. he was one of four people that could be bought back, remember. The winning team won the advantage of the hoh. Although I disagreed that a former player should be made hoh first thing, it was decided by a competition in the house, not by a popularity contest that BB already knew who the winner would be.

If I had money to bet....

I'd bet that the Coup de'tat was in place before the show started.

I imagine all the twists and games for HoH, POV, and being on Slop, etc. are in place before day ONE.

Sometimes it seems like it comes at a good time for certain HGs and sometimes not.

I find it hard to believe 'production' can swing in different directions at the drop of a hat to switch

things around to give certain HG's a better chance.

(LOL... except for the 1st Comp that gave the Athletes a bigger chance... and that was in place to begin with)

Just about all the manipulation I can see them doing... is how they edit the shows that appear on TV.

One last thing.... I'm glad The Powers to Be stepped up to the plate and finally didn't let a HG get away with

breaking rules that were agreed to when they signed up.

Sooo much to say, but don't want to waste too much of peoples time so will be as concise as possible:

1) This season, all but TWO (2) of the HG's were cast by AG and her people. Ronnie figured this out early on by talking to folks. So AG and her people said screw the people that actually WANT to be on the show. You know, the fans, the people that take the time to make and send tapes, or spend money to travel to cities that are "supposedly" holding auditions. The REAL PEOPLE that REALLY want to play the game and WIN money and will not leave until evicted....ya know, those people. Oh, wait, AG and the show do not see those people anymore. They cast fake ass pretty hollywood types. Well AG and CO, I hope you are happy? You get what you payed for. Oh wait, maybe you DON'T have to pay Chima now. Well, bully for you. BAD for the fans. The American version is the only one that people around the globe laugh at as fake and say don't bother watching. Way to go AG!!!

2) To those of you complaining that the Morty regulars are gone: It has become way to controlled here regarding open discussion of the show. You have to think too much before you post about what thread to post in, will people see your post if you post in that thread, will it be randomly moved with no indication of where it was moved do, can people openly debate, even heatedly, without getting banned....etc. It kind of became useless to post anything thoughtful, because people (interesting that some of those folks are now asking where everyone has gone) either didn't see it because it was in a thread they didn't read, didn't post because it took too much time to figure out WHERE to post it to play by the rules BUT still be accessible, or chose to just post non-sensible, one word or jumbled, unintelligible messages just to get their rating up. A choice was made. Either reward the folks that really cared about the show and discussed it, or go for more users and allow BS that sends people away...AND MOST IMPORTANT leads to the board suffering from too much traffic and people who really want to get on to get on.

I don't judge, Morty and his mods made a choice and now it is what it is.

There used to be quality discussion, debate, banter, even inappropriate back and forth.......very few rules, LOT's of interesting nights, sitting up and debating.

Now, Morty's is too "scripted" just like the show is too "cast". When the mod's themselves are leaving and/or complaining, yiou know someting isn't right.

BUT!!!, I have faith that if there is a BB next season, things will be different both on the show and on the board.

When there was more control on the show and more freedom to discuss on the boards.......It was more fun.

IMHO

Exactly.. kinda like in survivor.. with the final2/3.. he said they would have loved to switch it to top 3 to make cirie win her season, but it was predecided.. same here.. it just seems that way to us, but i bet they already knew.

Seems like all the competitions and the sequence of them needs to have already been decided before the show even starts. That's the fairest way. Otherwise, couldn't they be sued for favoritism?

I wanted to address some of the things you talked about here Dep... I have to agree with you here about the casting of this cast... It's a poor state of affairs in my opinion...

Second about what's going on here at Morty's, I think the fact that Ceci mods this forum, for the most part by herself, I think she is doing the best she can, which is a pretty darn good job... It's hard on her, and she does this for free, I think a lot of the time people forget this fact...

Third I don't understand what you mean by mods leaving, or complaning... Nobody has left that was a mod... Yes a group of regulars left a couple of years ago, but none of them were mods from here... I think you are still free to talk about the show as much as you want, but when it gets into pissing matches between posters is when the mods have to step in...

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say, and know that I adore you and respect you so very much, and I am not trying to be mean, or hateful, or anything else of the sort, but am just trying to explain my point of view about things that you mentioned :)...

Lately I think they've just been picking a lot of crappy houseguests. Ronnie was okay on the show, because as much as I hated him, at least he PLAYED and WANTED to be there. Lydia, Natalie, Chima.... they thought it was just like hanging out in their house and being stupid. I feel like they took the whole idea of high school cliques WAY too seriously. Grow up! Last season I couldn't even make it past week three I was so bored by all of them. I wish they would just get some normal people, some people that we are going to HATE, or just some somewhat interesting people.

I agree, the ratings are pretty good for a summer replacement show. What they need is BETTER CASTING! By having all young people, they are locked into a "talent" pool rife with immaturity. Couple that with a need to have a job that allows them to leave for three months and what you get is a bunch of "me first" types who don't work in professions requiring responsibility and/or any sense of company loyalty. Garbage in, garbage out!

Last season was a hoot and the cast was much more balanced both demographically and intellectually with meathead Jesse getting owned by a high school teacher and over the top personalities like Libra, Reney, and Jerry keeping us glued to the feeds.

I get that because of this year's cliques theme that they probably cast people they wouldn't normally cast, but come on!!!! Now this season is becoming a repeat of Season 6 - lots of boring predictablity relieved only by some of the most outrageous fights ever.

  • Seasons Six and 11 both had all young people except for a 40 something guy that went early on.
  • Because of the "twist", they both had people that normally wouldn't have been cast.
  • When Kaysar got played by Jenn, Nurse Maggie had her minions under such control that waitress/paid escort Janie never had a chance. When Jeff played the Coup d' tat, he became Maggie.
  • If there were no Coup d' tat, this season still would be predictable with Jessie and his disciples picking off the others one by one. Had Kaysar won HOH Season 6, it would have been equally predictable with the SOV picking off the nerd herd.

One major difference this time is that it isn't the smart person calling the alliances' shots.

I loved it last year when Jerry fell in the pool!!

Me too! I also loved how he always came up a little short everytime he tried to fit in with the young people. His fight with Libra was hysterical, his voice cracking when he yelled "you're going home" and Jessie's making farting sounds everytime he walked by Jerry was too funny! Not so funny but equally entertaining was his obliviousness to PC language. Made for interesting watching, waiting for him to change which foot was in his mouth.

It completely mystifies me that they let Jesse back into the game this year, and yeah I know there were three other possibles but we all know the comp was slated to the athletes

But what purpose did it serve with Jesse in there? Nobody with half a brain can stand the jerk. Are there really people out there who said "oh wow Jesse is back again, I can't wait to watch"?
