Big Brother 11 Episode Recap: August 18, 2009

Aug 19, 2009 08:50 AM ET by Adam Bryant

After a severely disappointing Sunday outing, Big Brother wins me back over with an extra explosive episode. And it wasn't even Chima's exit that had me reeling. Though the show did finally air what happened in Chima's final moments, it was the sudden HOH competition and a drunken Lydia that turned the rest of the episode into one long shouting match. You know my weaknesses, Big Brother. So, how did it all go down? Let's find out.

Tonight's episode might best be described as a lesson in self-destruction and delusion. The victims: the same girls who cried in their wine when Jessie left the house. The first to crack was Chima, who after learning she was nominated lost the will to play the game. What's more, she wouldn't "give them the satisfaction of voting me out." She refused to wear her microphone and at one point threw it in the Jacuzzi. Despite warnings from Natalie and Kevin, she continued to tell the producers to, um, well, do foul things. Her excuse: I'm just defeated. Then she was conquered by Big Brother. When Chima refused to go to the diary room (something the show reminded us was a pretty usual occurrence for Chima), executive producer Allison Grodner called her in and basically showed her the door.

The official word given to the houseguests was that Chima violated multiple rules, including the destruction of production equipment. Therefore, she was expelled. Lydia and Natalie pack her things, Kevin sobs, the other team (and America?) stands and cheers.

Next in the line of dominos is Natalie, who instantly blames Chima's breakdown on Michele stabbing her in the back. She claims none of Chima's actions were of her own choosing, but a reaction to the terrible situation she was put in by Michele's betrayal and Big Brother taking her HOH power away after Jeff used the coup d'etat. Natalie is so far gone that she even says the microphone slipped out of Chima's hand. Get real. For the first time, Natalie actually acted like she was as young and clueless as she has lied about all season. Fortunately for Natalie, Kevin tells her she is being ridiculous, and she agrees to use her anger for "vindiction." Someone get the houseguests a dictionary.

Michele reveals that since one of her nominees has left the game, her HOH reign is over after only two days. (Since Chima was her target, she takes it in stride.) The house is bubbling with excitement, particularly Natalie who thinks she's earned a chance to stick it to those terrible meanies who sent her best friends packing in a matter of 48 hours. (Boo-frickin'-hoo.)

The HOH competition (which was originally supposed to be the POV competition, as the players were practicing before Chima's meltdown) challenged the players to get a hole-in-one on a mini golf green. If you missed the hole, the ball went into a windmill which had different points assigned to different sections. Each round, the person with the most points is eliminated, but gets to choose a prize, one of which is the HOH key. And, of course, whoever wins can choose to steal any prize they want.

Lydia is eliminated first, and as luck would have it, she pulls the HOH key. Natalie goes out next, and gets a Hawaiian vacation, which she doesn't trade in because she knows she will lose it anyway and wants to take her chances on the beach. But then, Russell is eliminated and takes the vacation, trading in the process a call from home. (Natalie gets emotional because she hopes to hear from her dad, and while it did seem a little over the top, Russell was way over the top in his rudeness to her. "I didn't do it for you, keep crying." Ouch.)

Kevin goes out next and wins $5,000, which leaves Jeff and Jordan. Jeff decides to give the win to Jordan and shanks his last shot. He earns a spa treatment, which he trades for the Hawaiian vacation. And Jordan wins a Captain Unitard uniform, which she of course trades to become the new Head of Household.

Lydia, who had been sipping mimosas since she was eliminated, perhaps thought she was going to sneak away with the HOH key, and goes off on Jordan. She warns her not to be a "ho puppet" because Jeff will cut her loose in the end. Jeff says Lydia is floating through as well, and that she should think about who on her team is going to cut her loose. The houseguests argue a bit and Lydia starts slinging more insults, including blaming them for evicting Jessie again and saying Jeff wouldn't be anywhere without his "coup de crap power."

Lydia's drunken behavior continues as she pours Michele's beer down the drain. She and Michele yell a little before Lydia tells Jeff and Russell to evict her if they want any peace in the house. Jeff tells her to get comfy, because Natalie is the target. Much more shouting of stupid things occurs, especially as Lydia talks about how mean Jeff & Co. are being to the other team. Jeff explains that it's just a game, and none of his team pouted when they kept losing friends week after week. Lydia refuses to be in the room with Michele, challenges her to prove "who is the bigger woooooooooman (she was clearly hammered), and then tells Jeff she will only talk to him in the diary room. Jeff lets her go and Lydia cries that she misses Ronnie, Chima and Jessie.

Jeff then takes out his frustration on Natalie and Kevin for not "talking her off the ledge." He says he doesn't understand why they don't try to control their friends because he is sick of biting his tongue time after time. He threatens to go off, and begs them to intervene next time, but Natalie insists you can't change people's feelings or behavior. (I give Jeff props for trying to make the house a civil place, despite his distaste for some of his opponents.)

Jordan sees her HOH room, and she cries as she learns her mom was able to buy a new house. Jordan and her mom have shared a bedroom for the last two years and Jordan was hoping to win the game to buy a new house. Jeff said Jordan's emotion reminded him whey he likes her so much and that he's happy for her. Everybody now: awwwwww.

Lydia puts on the unitard. And she dies her hair bright pink. I can't force myself to care.

Jordan has to make her new nominations, and surprise, Natalie and Lydia are on the block. Jordan says she is giving Lydia the chance to leave after she clearly wanted it, but Jordan confesses in the diary room that she really wants Natalie gone. Natalie says she can smell the money and will do anything to win the power of veto.

We will have to wait until Thursday to see who wins the POV, whether or not it is used and who is ultimately evicted. And of course, we crown yet another HOH. The only question left hanging is still what the show will do with Chima's slot in the jury house.

What did you think of the episode? What do you hope the show does for the seventh jury vote? Are you glad Jordan won HOH? Can you believe how insane the house has made Lydia and Natalie? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

'Big Brother' broadcasting special live show Thursday night

By Andrea Reiher

August 19, 2009 8:40 AM

"Big Brother" usually has live portions on its Thursday broadcast, but this week they are going 100% live (live live live!) for a jam-packed show.

Thursday's show will feature a plethora of live action, with a live Power of Veto competition, a live POV ceremony, a live eviction vote and a live Head of Household competition. Currently, Jordan is Head of Household and has nominated Lydia and Natalie. It's unclear which girl is the main target, but now the scuttlebutt is that Jeff and Jordan are becoming suspicious of Michele and Russell.

I hope that cooler heads prevail and they keep their foursome intact long enough to keep the numbers advantage. If the house evens up at 3-3, they have given quite a bit of power back to Natalie, Lydia and Kevin.

This special supersized live show will air Thursday night at 8 pm/7 pm central on CBS.

Lydia voted out and gets ready to confront Jessie about his duplicity

August 21, 2009, 8:07 AM

The Big Brother 11 house has lost its second crazy person in less than a week, as Lydia was voted out by a vote of 3 to 1. Her post-Chima eviction meltdown provided great entertainment Thursday, much more than Chima

Whoa, 'Brother': The Truth About Chima

August 21, 2009, 1:01AM CDT

"Big Brother" host Julie Chen never misses a chance to tell viewers (and contestants) to "expect the unexpected" when it comes to the CBS reality show.

This season, she really meant it.

The past two weeks of "Big Bro" have been among the most tense, action-packed and unpredictable in the history of the decade-old format. Critics who still think the show is about as exciting as watching paint dry (that would be season one, though even that year had its charms) don't know what they're missing.

We've seen power in the house shift dramatically -- from being overwhelmingly in the hands of an alliance of contestants most viewers would likely label "the meanies," to being fully in the grasp of a rival coalition (let's call 'em "the naive but nice").

A returning contestant named Jessie went from being within weeks of pulling off a stunning victory, to being the first to go. One of the strongest female players in the game's history, a feisty diva named Chima, self-destructed and became one of the few players ever to be ejected from the game (though she still somehow insists she chose to quit).

In the middle of all the drama, as always, are executive producers Allison Grodner, Rich Meehan and Scott Einziger. We've been talking to Grodner every Thursday after the eviction show, and she kept her promise to talk to us tonight-- despite all the recent hubbub.

Here's an edited version of what she had to say this week.

Two caveats: Grodner wouldn't talk about who won tonight's head of household competition (though any "Big Bro" fan worth his or her salt has already checked the Net to find out who won). And, after writing up this interview, we realized we forgot to ask Grodner a very key question: Will America end up the seventh member of the jury?

Knowing Grodner, she probably wouldn't have spilled.

So... Chima. What happened?

What we said on the show is what happened. You come on the show, you agree to play by the rules. And putting on the microphone is a crucial part of the show. We need to hear (players) in order to do the show. And a big rule is 'do not destroy equipment.'

Chima, of course, claims she quit-- even though she certainly didn't look like she was quitting when she went into the diary room.

When people are escorted out of the Big Brother house, they're out of the game. Once you've been exposed (to the behind the scenes operation), the game is over.

(Grodner notes the only exception to this came in season nine when medical emergencies forced evacuation of two players).

How tough was the decision to end Chima's game?

It was not an easy call to make. We want everyone to go out the front door, not the side door. It was serious. It was made with a heavy heart. I wish her well. She's an intelligent, lovely person. I know (some fans) beg to differ, but....

You had a cameo in Tuesday's show.

(Laughs) I don't particularly like to be a part of the sho. I like to keep the producers away from the show as much as possible... but there was no choice. In a way, it was incredible to break the fourth wall.

Chima has been vocal on Twitter. Is this really Chima tweeting.

Yeah.

They sign contracts with us where they need to discuss press with CBS. (CBS Media Relations) is aware of what she's releasing. She seems to be playing by the rules...outside of the house.

Natalie and Chima and others really seemed to have a problem with the Coup d'Etat.

It's the sore loser thing. The test of character on the show is how you deal with things when you're down and out.... If they had had the power, they would have used it.

They couldn't have been surprised. Plus, you warned them something big was happening....

There were many people (in the house) who had seen 'Big Brother' and had a sense the mystery power was the Coup d'Etat. It would have been easy for anyone to plan strategically for its use. (The complaining) is bewildering to all of us given the amount of warning they had.

So Lydia was voted out this week. Jeff and Jordan came close to backdooring Russell or Michelle due to Kevin's little lie. And Natalie survived!

Kevin has been in the shadows but he really stepped up tonight, along with Natalie. The lie they told tonight is partially true.... Russell considers himself even with Jeff.

(As for Natalie), she was so convincing with her lying. On Sunday's show you'll see where she strikes a deal with Jeff and Jordan. Natalie is playing the game. She was in Jessie's shadow. But she's a thinker. And she's certainly a liar.

What about her big lie-- namely, claiming she's just 18, when she's really much older? The HGs seem clueless. Don't they wonder why the producers don't object when she drinks alcohol?

And she's also talked about going to casinos! We've told Natalie we can't be a part of her lie. So if any contestants asked us about it in the DR, we would just say, "If there was illegal activity going on, we wouldn't allow it."

But nobody's asked?

Nope. (TVMoJoe bangs head).

If Russell wins HOH this week (spoiler alert: he didn't), would he put Jeff up?

Absolutely.

Let's talk Jeff and Jordan. First, they really are one of the best couples in the show's history.

Everytime I see them in a room together, I smile. They have such genuine affection for each other.

Do you think it's a real romance?

They're realistic. They're in different stages of life and they live in different states. So it's not deep. I mean, they're not the sharpest tools in the shed, and they're a little naive. But they're very real.

They're in a good position to win, but are you worried they're getting caught up in the lies?

These people have not been in power for most of the game. Funny things happen when people get in the HOH room. You get the power. But you also get the paranoia. It happened to Russell, and Ronnie and certainly Chima.

You'd think Jeff and Jordan would realize that getting Natalie and Kevin out is key.

Well, I think Kevin and Natalie have the most friends in the jury house right now.

Big Brother 11: Soda Can & Garden Master

August 23, 2009 07:15:59 by Ryan Haidet

Right where we left off last Thursday. The remaining Big Brother houseguests were competing for the power of Head Of Household in a contest, which required top-notch precision. Dropping empty soda cans from a perch above, the contestants had to try and slide a total of 24 colored cans into a pair of vertical tubes. It obviously was a difficult challenge, but one filled with strategy.

As the competition wore on, it was a head-to-head battle between Kevin and Jeff. After the two were tied for a short while, Kevin pulled five cans ahead making it 20 to 15. But that lead quickly shrank when Russell used one of his special golden cans and blocked Kevin from competing for 60 seconds.

Shortly after Kevin came off of his time penalty, the match was tied once again

Eric does a very good blog that I really enjoy each week (don't care for Eric though)

http://www.realitywanted.com/newsitem/2259...seguests-week-6

by Eric Stein

Ever watch a TV sitcom in which they intersperse a bunch of old clips in with the new material to fill the episode? Well, that's what my column is going to be like this week. And why am I going to rehash certain points from earlier in the season? For one, because I was out of town all week and I'm taking shortcuts to finish it. And secondly, because I want to pat myself on the back for being so spot on. Hey, at least I'm being honest with my intentions. Consider it like the flashback feature on the live feeds. Don't worry; there will be plenty of new thoughts mixed in too.

Earlier this week, somewhere out there was a witch's coven assembling for a celebration. That's right, "The Friendship" got the gang back together from season 6; and they were rejoicing. Why, might you ask? Well, it took 5 long seasons, but they are no longer the most hated people in BB history! That title now goes to the crack team of Chima, Lydia, Natalie, Jessie, and Ronnie. In racking my brain, I can barely think of a worse display of poor sportsmanship in my entire life than that displayed by this crew after their power was usurped. They all seemed quite content to rule the house tyrannically, but the second they lost control for one week...they completely lost control of their minds/dignity/sanity as well. Truth be told, this wasn't hard to predict.

Flashback to Earlier Thoughts on Chima:

Week 1 - "She has a mouth on her that she can't contain. It took her all of 5 minutes upon move-in to start talking trash, she's sassy, and she's a chronic complainer. Outspoken players rarely excel in this game. BB requires the finesse of knowing when to shut your mouth and I don't believe she possesses that quality."

Week 2 - "As I'm sure we would all agree, Chima's speech was outright astonishing. Somehow, she managed to make an accused bigot/misogynist look good in comparison to herself. It struck me as a speech you'd give if you were going home, not something you'd do to endear yourself to the other players if you are staying. Let's not forget her behavior at the Have/Have Not competition and her general demeanor in the house this week. I have noticed that her mouth is getting exponentially bigger based on how secure she feels in the house. As soon as she felt safe, she unleashed a tirade that hasn't stopped since. She is very difficult to like."

Flashback to Earlier Thoughts on Lydia:

Week 1 - "Being manipulative in real life often translates into a dangerous BB player. However, eventually not only do people see through it, but they resent you for using them. It will ultimately bite her in the butt."

Week 2 - "Lydia, in particular, is a nasty, manipulative player. I am standing by my comparison of her gameplay to that of BB8's Amber. She prays on people's emotions, plays the victim, and thrives on drama. She should induce fear in her fellow houseguests while she's there...she'll do damage - but ultimately, she'll also do irreparable damage to herself as well."

Looks like I had them pegged! I have zero patience for people who compromise the integrity of the game and/or don't appreciate the opportunity. I distinctly remember two instances like that from my season. In week 1, Carol told a handful of us that she had a family BBQ that she was looking forward to attending in mid July. Um, BB goes until mid to late September, Carol. As soon as she said that, we all made sure we'd get her to her BBQ on time, since we wanted to play the game with deserving people who actually wanted to be there. And when Jen broke the food restriction, she went home by an unprecedented 6-0 vote, when only 5 people were voting. The fact is that thousands of people would kill to have this opportunity, so it's beyond disappointing when one of the lucky few that gets the chance doesn't appreciate it. Good riddance to Chima. By the way, I sincerely hope she's not welcomed at the finale, not paid a dime of her stipend, and pays the big bucks to replace the mic. She deserves it.

Random thoughts section. One point of confusion I had from this past week was why did Chima & Jeff get to play HoH after the Coup was used, but Michele didn't get to play again after Chima was ousted? Also, I was perplexed about why Chima & Jeff didn't get to vote after the Coup was used. I felt like they were making up rules just to assure that there wasn't a tie vote (because then who would break it, Chima or Jeff?). I'm sure things like this don't bother most, but I'd like some rules clarifications personally, haha. Also, I am adamantly standing by the fact that Jessie got hosed. I don't know how many times I can state that I am strictly analyzing gameplay in these columns...not expressing my rooting interest. The fact of the matter is that Jessie went home even though either he himself or a close ally of his were in power the entire time he was in the house. What more could the guy have possibly done? Also, I thought it was really peculiar that Kevin chose right after the Coup to firmly attach himself to that fast-fading alliance once and for all. What a strange time to hitch yourself to that sinking wagon. Weird choice.

With the past 4 evictions, the game has broken exactly as anticipated. Let's take a look at some of my earlier (and amazingly accurate) thoughts, haha.

Flashback to Earlier Thoughts on Why Ronnie & Jessie Would Be The Next Two Evictees

Week 2 - "Since the HoH became a part of the game in season 2, there have been 23 people to serve as HoH in week one or two of the game (including season 9's power couple). Of those 23 people, a grand total of 1 of them won the game (season 3's Lisa). The conclusion here is obvious...being HoH in week 1 or 2 is bad. This is unfortunate news for Jessie and Ronnie."

Week 3 - "The closest comparison to the way this season has unfolded thus far was the early domination of the Four Horsemen for the first three weeks of Season 5. Well, who went home in weeks 4 and 5 that season? Four Horsemen rings leaders, Scott and Jase. Going back to my early point of winning the battle and losing the war...dominating early pretty much means nothing other than guaranteeing that you have no chance of winning the game."

Flashback to Earlier Thoughts On Why Jeff Should Use the Coup and It's After Effects

Week 5 - "This is a chance to definitively and permanently change the power structure in the house for good. And there is very little way for this to come back to hurt Jeff. This is a game-ender for the alliance that has dominated this game thus far."

With Ronnie/Jessie/Chima/Lydia gone in succession, it seems like but a forgotten memory as to when they were ruling the house, right? So where do we go from here? I believe that Chima was a solid target for Michele's theoretical HoH reign. However, I do not think that Lydia was the correct target this week during Jordan's HoH. I understand the thought process...she was aligned with Kevin and this breaks up a solid twosome. However, all it really means is that Nat/Kevin have now become a solid twosome and a far more formidable one at that. They sent Lydia home just because they didn't want to deal with her anymore, when they should have sent home Nat or Kevin because they are far stronger competitors. Jeff & Jordan's biggest flaw seems to be an inability to stand by their convictions. They need to put their foot down on somebody's neck and end them for good. Why they'd be listening to Nat/Kevin at all right now is beyond me. Let's just assume that what Nat/Kev are saying is true and Russell is coming after J/J. Does that mean that N/K are not coming after J/J?!? Um, no. I don't feel like people should even entertain the thoughts of the nominees or the opposing side of the house. Name your target and take them out...the end. This wishy washy playing makes no sense this late in the game. For the record, I believe the right play this week for Jeff would be to get rid of Natalie. Then Russ. Then Kevin. This week you get an insurmountable lead in the numbers. Next week you take out the challenge threat. And you leave the least imposing challenge threat for last. I know some may argue that Kev is a bigger threat in the comps than Nat, but don't forget that first endurance competition. That said, with Kevin nominated this week, Jeff has now earned the title of the last houseguest to be nominated this season. That is a really big accomplishment...congrats to him (even if he was aided greatly by the cliques twist and the Coup)! I wonder if Jeff would be as popular as he is in another season or if a lot of his popularity stems from being the alternative to the most hated alliance in BB history? Jeff is not that dissimilar from players like BB8's Mike, BB3's Eric, and BB5's Drew, none of who were particularly popular. Before you throw rocks at me and yell about how amazing he is, I'm not saying he shouldn't be popular or that I'm not rooting for him, I'm just debating the origin of his popularity. Also, major props to Jordan for winning HoH and PoV this week. They should have never underestimated her...big mistake.

I must say that Nat and Kevin have done a great job fighting for their lives. Kudos to them. But I still think that this game is Michele's to lose, with a Michele/Jordan final 2 being a distinct possibility. One of Nat/Kevin/Russ are going home this week. If any of those 3 ever wins HoH, Jeff is the likely target. There are only so many eliminations left. So in this equation, when and how are Michele and Jordan getting axed? At least one of them will be in the final 2 for certain, if not both. With that in mind, let's hit the flashback feature.

Flashback to Earlier Thoughts on Jordan:

Week 1 - "Do not sleep on Jordan. She doesn't know the game well at all, she is too trusting, she is not cutthroat, etc....yet in this dynamic, that may be just what the doctor ordered. Who is going to spend their HoH week on eliminating Jordan? She is a sweetheart and she's not a threat. She very well may watch people fight right over her head for weeks before they ever look her way. By simply skating that far into the game, anything can happen. Do I expect her to win? No. But do I expect her to be around to a long time? Absolutely."

Flashback to Earlier Thoughts on Michele:

Week 1 - "Let me declare Michele as the front-runner. I am jumping right on (her) bandwagon. In her pre-show interviews, Michele described herself as a female me. Need I say more? She combines intelligence with a goofiness that will help disarm her opponents. While she's busy bonding with them over sex talk, they will underestimate her game. She hasn't made any early moves, isn't over aggressive, is under the radar, and is very capable of making a move when the time comes. Plus, the "have not" lifestyle resulted in Chima having a meltdown and Ronnie was also on the fritz, whereas Michele didn't show a single sign of wear and tear. She is my definitive selection for this season's best player to date."

Can Michele win a final vote? Well, it's going to be tight. But the one person that she definitively beats every time is Jordan (which is why I suspect Michele will want to go to the end with her). People want to feel as if they lost to a worthy competitor, so they will not want to partake in a season in which Jordan is the winner. Everyone else would be a VERY close vote for Michele and America may prove to be the deciding vote of BB11 thanks to Chima. How interesting would that be?

Big Brother 11 Episode Recap: August 25, 2009

Aug 26, 2009 09:34 AM ET by Adam Bryant

Every season of Big Brother reaches its crucial turning point. Some might say that this season's was when Jeff won and used the coup d'etat. I'd probably agree with that, but tonight's turn of events ranks as a close second. Again, Jeff is in control, but while last time the move helped him gain some footing in the house, this time around it decides just who he might be standing with at the end of the game (if he's still standing that is.) How did the power of veto play out? And how did it affect Jeff's master plan? Let's find out.

Although Natalie and Kevin feel like their backs are against the wall, they seem somewhat confident that Jeff is going to take the bait and backdoor Russell. (I love how they think it's their idea!) Russell, on the other hand, is in super paranoid mode. First, he wonders why Jordan is being so quiet around him. Then, he feels the cold shoulder when he rings the HOH doorbell, and Jeff and Jordan won't let him in. (Turns out, Jordan is sleeping and Jeff is listening to headphones, but it's still enough to make Russell go neurotic.) Russell shares his feelings with Michele, who still believes the final 4 deal is in place. But they both agree that playing their hearts out to win the veto is their best guarantee of safety.

Meanwhile, cracks start to form in Jeff and Jordan's alliance. Apparently the stress of being head of household makes Jeff a little cranky and a little less tolerant of Jordan's general silliness. He gets upset after he suggests that Jordan should study the memory wall for competitions and she shrugs it off. Jordan tells him if she feels like a burden to him, that he should fend for himself and she will do the same. It's clear that Jeff is just frustrated, but we do know that, for the most part, he is carrying her through the game. He notes that all the blood has been on his hands while the other houseguests think Jordan is sweet and innocent.

Michele walks in on the middle of an argument, and sides with Jordan, making Jeff's point. Jeff tries to feel Michele out about how much time she and Russell are spending together, and she lies by saying they both trust Jeff and know they are safe. Then Jeff shows his hand a little bit: "You're not safe if you're in a team with him," Jeff says.

By the way, the houseguests want to know how Kevin knew he was gay. The answer: I liked boys and not girls. Shocking! Also, Kevin says he hopes Jeff is stupid enough to take their deal, and they can't wait for a chance to stab him in the back.

The veto competition turns the back yard into a jungle filled with bananas, which means Casey can't be far away. Although he doesn't actually appear, Casey is the voice of Otev the ape. He raps clues to the houseguests, and they must find the banana that answers the riddle and return to the starting line. Whoever is wrong or the last one back is eliminated. Again proving Jeff's point, Jordan is the first person eliminated. Natalie, who was hoping to win her safety, is eliminated in the second round, but everyone breathes a sigh of relief when Russell is knocked out in Round 3.

Once Kevin drops out, it's down to Michele and Jeff. Jeff messes with Michele's head in the final round, constantly yelling that he found the banana and throwing things at Michele. Ultimately, Jeff wins the veto, presumably sealing Russell's fate in the game. Russell, sensing something is up warns Michele. He says if either of them is backdoored, he will "f-----g go off." Hurricane Chima may feel like a sprinkle compared to Russell.

Before following through on his plan, Jeff goes back to Kevin and Natalie to make a deal. Both promise Jeff that he will not be nominated next week if he saves them. (Not sure if that means only the one he saves or if both will honor the deal as long as Russell leaves). Even though Jeff knows Michele and Jordan will go up, he wants to protect himself.

Once he has all the power and the stress level reduces, Jeff makes sure Jordan knows that she doesn't get on his nerves. She says he knows her too well, and she feels like she's known him forever. She even gives him a good night kiss. All together now; Awwww!

At the veto meeting, Jeff, as expected, pulls Kevin off the block and puts Russell up in his place. Kevin is thrilled that Jeff saved him, Michele realizes she has to get back on Jeff and Jordan's side after sticking too close to Russell, and Russ says Jeff is as dumb as he thought he was. Rather than admitting that backdooring him was a strong move, he says Jeff will now have the biggest target on his back next week. Unless Kevin and Natalie stay true to their deal rather Kevin's earlier comment about backstabbing, Russell might be right.

What did you think of the episode? Do you think Jeff made the right move? Will you be glad to see Russell go? Share all your thoughts below and check back to see which houseguest is evicted.

Big Brother 11: Huge Fights & Endurance

August 27, 2009 07:33:14 by Ryan Haidet

54 days have passed in one of the most drama-filled seasons in Big Brother history. Last episode closed out with Russell burning up about being the target of a new backdoor plan. He vowed to make life in the house hell, and he certainly raised the fire in tonight

Big Brother 11 Episode Recap: August 27, 2009 (Eviction 7)

Aug 28, 2009 09:03 AM ET by Adam Bryant

With Jeff's plan to backdoor Russell in full effect, we were all waiting to see just how much of an explosion Russell would have. And he didn't disappoint, delivering what was probably his biggest blowup of an already volatile season. But he got a rise out of one houseguest that was completely unexpected for me. Would his last desperate attempts to stay in the game be successful? Or would all his shouting seal his fate even further? Let's find out.

Russell's immediate reaction to his nomination was the calm before the storm. Whereas Kevin and Natalie were doing a happy dance in the storage room, Russell very much appeared to be a ticking time bomb. Before he went off, however, there was a semi-tender moment with Michele. He told her he hopes she wins, and even though Michele doesn't "like Russell 100 percent," she tears up at the prospect of losing her recent partner. Russell even said he feels like he let Michele down.

Jeff finally decides to "face the music" and "weirdness," by confronting Russell about what he's thinking in the back yard. Jeff leads with how Russell should admit that Jeff just made a smart move in the game. (The fact that Natalie and Kevin are all ready to betray Jeff may prove otherwise, but even If they do put Jeff up, I think he had to try and get Russell out this week.) Russell obviously doesn't think Jeff is smart...or tough. He tells Jeff he hopes he wins, because if he comes into the jury house he will "mop his face up and down." Like their first fight this season, it quickly turns into a lot of caveman grunts and groans (Me so tough! No, me so tougher!). Jeff doesn't back down, throwing out his own threats. He says he would give up the $500,000 to "bust [Russell] in the mouth" for talking to him the way he did. Jordan gets involved, and Russell says Jeff is letting a girl fight his battles. Jordan basically ends everything by telling Russell he's just mad that he's going home. Jeff says he should man up and know when he got beat.

Meanwhile, Russell makes a play at staying. During a game of pool with Kevin, he tries to convince him to vote out Natalie, because he thinks he already has Michele's vote. He says Kevin will then have a teammate in trying to get out Jeff and the blood will be on Russell's hands, not Kevin's. (He also insults Kevin in a way, suggesting that no one else can take Jeff out but him.) Kevin seems to be considering the offer.

On possibly his last day, Russell decides to try again to get under Jeff's skin, hoping Jeff will say something that turns the house against him. He goes to all the classics: technotronics, America feeling sorry for Jeff and giving him the coup d'

Whoa, 'Brother': America's Vote Could Be Key

By Josef Adalian

August 28, 2009, 12:17AM CDT

Another key player left the "Big Brother" house Thursday night, as big bad Russell got the boot by a unanimous 3-0 vote (the first unanimous vote of the season).

As always, TV MoJoe talked to "Brother" exec producer Allison Grodner right after tonight's episode to get her thoughts on this week's goings-on:

So why do you think Jeff went back on his final four deal with Russ?

He firmly believes that, in order to win this game, he needed to strike now. He felt Russ was the biggest threat physically. That's why he struck at Jessie.

But there's a big risk....

He chose to trust two people who've never had his interests at heart, over Russell.

I think he thought (Kevin and Natalie) weren't strong competitors.

Let's talk about the harsh words between Jeff and Russ. Did you have to warn them their talk was getting too tough?

They know the rules and they both know the line. They were both told that they needed to watch out for the line. They obeyed the rules.

Are you worried what might happen if Jeff ends up in the jury house?

There could be conflict if Jeff arrived. But I don't think it would get violent.

Let's say Kevin or Natalie win HOH. Do you think they'll go after Jeff?

Probably. The only doubt would be how (they) decide to do it. There's a possibility they do the old backdoor and put up Jordan and Michelle.

Do you think Kevin should have considered aligning with Russ and Michelle to vote out Natalie?

I think that would have been amazing for him to do that.. It would have been an awesome move.

So what's this secret HOH door we saw Thursday?

I'm gonna tease. There is a secret door that will weigh into the HOH. It's something we've had planned for a while. I wouldn't call it a power. It's just something that's been added to the HOH's (responsibility).

Can you confirm what will happen if there's a tie at the end of the game? How will you break it?

If you go back to "Big Brother" history, all the way to season two, it's always been the same.

Viewers get to break the tie?

Yup. We're going to announce it soon.

CBS confirmed last week that this year's finale will be two hours. Are you happy about that?

Sure. We've usually had to squeeze a lot of material in at the end. Now we'll be able to have more time for the first four houseguests (who didn't go to jury) to reveal secrets. And we'll be able to ask some really good questions. We're excited to give this season its due.

Big Brother 11: Broken Deal

August 30, 2009 06:53:40 by Ryan Haidet

After Russell was evicted from the Big Brother house, a new Head of Household competition began last Thursday that had the remaining houseguests falling off their feet. On a slippery platform the four contestants eligible to win HOH were working to fill a 16 gallon glass bowl with a tiny mug. And it was a very funny competition as feet flew in the air and the contestants splattered along the path.

Early on in the contest, Jordan was doing extremely well, but as time passed she got very tired and had a tough time keeping her balance.

Natalie could barely stay standing and was way behind in last place throughout the entire competition. She was doing so badly that Jeff actually thought she was simply giving up and relying on Kevin to win for her.

At one point Natalie even dropped her cup into the main container and acted like it was far too difficult to get out.

The battle was truly between Michele and Kevin the entire contest. It was a close match for quite some time until Michele started stumbling around and kept falling down. Her constant tumbles easily gave Kevin a large lead, which took him to victory.

Tears Fall

After coming so close to winning HOH, Michele was very upset. She went to one of the rooms by herself and cried because she felt very alone in the game. But more tears flowed later when Kevin read a letter he got from his boyfriend for winning HOH. Kevin said that was the first time he had ever cried tears of joy, which marked one of the highlights during his stay in the Big Brother house.

Big Brother 11: A Big Question Mark

September 1, 2009 07:35:38 by Ryan Haidet

Flying cash, space suits, aliens and tears. Big Brother was filled with everything but the kitchen sink tonight as the houseguests continued toward the finale, which is just two weeks away. But before all of that fun, it was a somber situation after Kevin went back on his word and nominated Jeff against Michele for eviction. After the ceremony, Michele and Jordan went to the pool room and were both really upset about the nominations.
