I thought since I did the deathiversary thread, that I would also do a birthday one too... So I will start this one on October 1st too, and will post each day who was born on that day, and if we have posters born on those days they can post here, and we can start a Happy Birthday thread for them...

October 6th- Ioan Gruffudd: Born Ioan Gruffudd (pronounced yo-IN griffith), in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. The eldest of three children born to teachers Peter and Gillian, who changed the family surname from the English Griffiths to the Welsh Gruffudd.

In 1986, the 13-year-old Gruffudd landed a permanent role on the Welsh BBC prime-time soap opera People of the Valley (1986-1992). He left the series after a six-year run and moved to London, where he attended Britain's prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. A string of television roles followed, including the BBC drama A Relative Stranger (1995) and the ITV series Poldark (1996).

Eventually, Gruffudd was offered smaller roles in larger productions. In the 1997 blockbuster film Titanic, he landed the sympathetic role of Fifth Officer Harold Lowe, who held the noble distinction of rescuing Kate Winslet's character (Rose DeWitt Bukater) at the end of the film. The following year, he gave a passionate performance as the lover of famed playwright Oscar Wilde in the biopic Wilde. In 1999, he headlined the Welsh film Solomon and Gaenor, which told the story of star-crossed lovers. Later that same year, the film received an Academy Award Nomination as Best Foreign Language Film.

In May 1999, Gruffudd starred as the orphaned Pip in the big-budget BBC production of Great Expectations (later popularized in America on PBS's Masterpiece Theater), based on the literary classic by Charles Dickens. However, it was the title role in the A&E miniseries Horatio Hornblower that brought Gruffudd to the attention of millions of viewers. Based on the epic novels by C.S. Forester, the films traced the career of a young English sailor during the Napoleonic wars.

In 1999, Gruffudd starred as the sword-wielding hero in four Horatio Hornblower features that included The Duel, The Fire Ship, The Duchess and the Devil, and The Wrong War. Later the same year, Horatio Hornblower won an Emmy Award for Best Miniseries.

Most recently, Gruffudd adopted a lighter tone with his role in 102 Dalmatians (2000), opposite Glenn Close and Gerard Depardieu. In the spring of 2001, Gruffudd reprised his most famous role in two more long-awaited installments in the Horatio Hornblower series, subtitled Mutiny and Retribution.

He starred in Fantastic Four in 2006. Born October 6th, 1973.

Jenny Lind: (Stockholm, Swed.

Jesse (Louis) Jackson: Civil rights activist, Baptist minister, and presidential candidate, born October 8, 1941, in Greenville, South Carolina, USA.

Son of an Alabama sharecropper (he adopted his stepfather's last name), he was a good enough athlete in high school to be offered a contract by the Chicago White Sox, but he turned it down because a white player was given so much more money.

He also turned down an athletic scholarship at the University of Illinois when he was told that as a black he could not expect to play quarterback. Instead he attended the mostly black Agricultural and Technical College of North Carolina in Greensboro, and in addition to being an outstanding athlete, student, and campus leader, he took a lead in protests that forced Greensboro, NC, to integrate its restaurants and theatres.

He trained for the ministry at Chicago Theological Seminary and, having joined the protest movement led by Martin Luther King Jr and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), he was named head of the Chicago branch of Operation Breadbasket (1965), becoming its national head in 1967. Operation Breadbasket was the SCLC's programme to persuade American businesses to hire blacks and to get companies to sell products made by blacks, and Jackson proved highly successful in this for several years.

He also helped create the Chicago Freedom Movement (1966) to press for integrated schools and open housing. He was beside King when he was assassinated (1968) and although Jackson was viewed by some as the potential successor to King as the leader in the struggle for rights, he never quite gained the full support of all elements of the black community.

Increasingly more active on the political scene, in 1972 he led a group that successfully challenged Mayor Richard J Daley's slate of delegates at the Democratic national convention. Backed by yet another of his organizations, the Rainbow Coalition, he ran twice in the Democratic presidential primaries (1984, 1988), gaining enough votes to make him a presence at the convention.

And although his occasionally extreme rhetoric and sometimes angry demeanor seemed to frighten off the broadbased support he sought, he constantly won favor with surprising constituencies as he inserted himself into a variety of events, including rushing off to Syria to gain the freedom of an American pilot, and joining picket lines at all kinds of labor actions.

In January 2001, Jackson decided to withdraw temporarily from public life following revelations of an extra-marital affair with a staffer that resulted in the birth of a daughter. He reemerged on the political scene in 2004 following the voting debacle that plagued the presidential election. He called for a congressional debate on the matter, asking for a fair count and national voting standards.

In 2008, Jackson created controversy when he used the N-word while slamming Barack Obama in what he thought was a private conservation during a break in a TV interview, Fox News said July 16.

Jackson had already come under fire for remarks he made while he was unknowingly recorded by an open microphone and camera before an interview with Fox News on July 6.

He accused Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee of "talking down to black people," adding that he (Jackson) wanted to "cut his n--s off."

Just hours before Fox News aired those remarks on July 9, the longtime civil rights leader apologized for the
