Tony has to be praying that Jack cannot recover in time to stop him from selling the gas to the Apple Cart Mafia (the same car that Jonas apparently upset).  But I am sticking to prediction from 2 hours ago that this season will come down to a showdown between Jack vs. Tony and we KNOW Jack is coming back for another day.  The image of Kim finally moving forward in her life with a hubby and a kid is nice, but I still lay odds that she will donate the stem cells before the end of the day and the last we will see of Jack is his undergoing the surgery.  

Jack's concern for Renee was touching but out of place as his focus should have been on canister guy.  Given that there was an unsub in the zone, I would have expected Renee to ask for the code word to verify the report that the suspect had been spotted, but then again I also expected that when the transport vehicle stopped (why was there no guard in the back with Hodges?), a rescue team was going to extract the unconscious megalomaniac and return him to the Apple Cart Mafia so we could see at last with whom we are really dealing.  Of course, the Apple Cart Mafia wasn't so upset with Jonas that they didn't let him proceed with his plans so that they could obtain the gas with themselves.  What was most upsetting, that Jonas failed or that he wasn't loony enough?

As for Janice, FD and President Taylor, can you say irrelevant players at this stage of the game?  Next hour Jack recovers long enough to interrogate Jonas.  I am sure he will be pumped up with plenty adrenalin after Tony's betrayal (remember, Bill's death can now be laid at Tony's feet too, since clearly Tony knew more about the attack on the White House than he let on).  I do not think Chloe will be back, and frankly Morris was wasted in his cameo appearance. I think we may be done with Aaron too, unless the war between two former friends crosses the Pennsylvania Blvd border once again.  The next 5 hours will be about the ultimate showdown between Jack and Tony.  Could Michelle be behind it all?

Hodges took the pill!! WTF?? I was totally expecting him to slip it into the President's or CSI-Miami-guy's drink. He just seemed like too much of a bad guy to go out the way he did. Once again, I overestimate someome's wack-jobbi-ness.

I was a bit PO'ed that Renee didn't get blown up...but then again, I don't think her acting abilities stretch to corpse. Speaking of great acting skills, why isn't Janine dead? Why hasn't Chloe crawled out of the digital shadows and chopped her in the neck?

Did anyone catch the look between Olivia and evil-nonlawyer? Think they knew eachother? Wanna bet Bad-ass Barbie is Larry's ex-wife.  This is about the time the stray pieces start coming together.

'24': CTU rises from the ashes

Jonas channels his inner Rick Astley as we head into the homestretch of the seventh day of “24.” He’ll never give you up, let you down or even run around and desert you. He’ll never make you cry (if you’re on his side), say goodbye (unless he kills you)… awww, who am I kidding. Chloe’s back! That’s all that matters!

The Spoilers are also glad to see Morris, but not Janis.

With the vacant building still burning, Jack explains to many that he misunderstood Tony once again. When he and Renee ring the President, she nearly blows her top (again) that the FBI can’t get their cast of characters straight. Lucky for them, Jack knows exactly what it will take to get Jonas to talk: proof of death. If everyone believes the old man is dead, he can share intel and retire to the countryside for the rest of his days.

On the other side of town, Tony quietly enters his roach motel where Galvez is waiting. With a simple transaction (money for the canister), both men could be on their way, except Galvez plays hard to get. Tony suffocates him with the shower curtain for the inconvenience. Cara later arrives to Tony’s new plan: instead of waiting six months to launch an attack, go ahead and immediately do what they can with one canister. The rest of the consortium bicker amongst themselves, but when silent partner Alan Wilson speaks in favor of the new plan, the rest of the group falls into line. The vote is unanimous: they launch a new attack during the Metro DC morning rush hour.

Olivia’s steamed her mother is bending over for Jonas. First, the President invites the man to the White House, now she’s being ordered to coordinate with the Justice Department to draft a witness protection document for him. Aaron Pierce is on her side, though his chivalrous nature would never allow for him to take the law into his own hands… though I’m sure Olivia wouldn’t mind if he took Jonas out.

Señor Hodges is ranting and raving like the certified lunatic he is when Jack enters his room. With practically half the government monitoring the party line, Jack and Jonas go all-out with the shoutfest. In the end, the facts are these: Starkwood is indeed merely a cog in a larger consortium of private companies bent on effectively controlling the government. The plan was to launch simultaneous attacks in the next year, then outsource the blame to a random “terrorist,” who has a simmering grudge with the government. Jonas has no idea who the woman was that masqueraded as his attorney. When Renee confirms he’s telling the truth via bioscan, Jack recommends the President haul the old CTU servers out of storage and re-activate them immediately. She agrees, giving our heroes carte blanche in taking out the new threat.

Jack’s first call after the fact is Chloe, who he cajoles to help in getting the CTU servers online. Before she leaves, she urges Morris to take Prescott and get the hell out of Dodge. Jack and Renee hastily organize a massive powwow of the FBI minds to lay out the new attack plan. Continuing her sense of patriotism, Janis immediately and quite vocally opposes to the whole thing, especially the FBI turning into “CTU-lite.” It wouldn’t be Janis unless she vocally opposed something. The new mission of the FBI, whether they like it or not, is to find traces of manufactured evidence. Janis again opens her big mouth, saying they simply don’t have the manpower. Sigh.

Speaking of manufactured evidence, Jibraan Al-Zarian is our targeted terrorist, up at that early hour because he can’t sleep. He tells his younger brother to be careful, but it goes in one ear and out the other. Tony, Cara and a couple other guys move in from the outside… cutting power to the apartment before busting in. Seems the corporate bad guys have their patsy in custody.

Janis continues to enjoy hearing her own voice, shouting that the Bill of Rights is being trampled on. Just as every FBI computer switches to a CTU logo, Jack engages in his second epic shouting match of the hour… except this time, he mistakes President Taylor for David Palmer.

Dude, take five. Kick off your shoes, enjoy a Shasta, read the latest issue of People… somebody ship him off to Club Med!

I think given the number of people that Tony has murdered (offensively, not in self defense), Tony has to be presumed over the edge.  The irony is that as I understand it, it was Hodges or at the very least at the order of the Apple Cartel (which Hodges upset) that was behind Michelle's death and Tony's near death in their attempt to pin David Palmer's assassination on a MIA Jack Bauer (boy did that backfire on them) and Tony's subsequent resurrection.  In other words they engineered his pain and then gave him an outlet to express it.  But apparently Tony is beyond reason on this issue and has become a psychopath, cold and calculating, missing only the triangular goatee that would give him the face of pure evil.

i was expecting them to at least check up on hodges to make sure he was dead being the sophisticated bunch they are.
this janice character needs to go.  i dont get why she is so about following the law knowing that million of lives are at stake i think the writers went overboard here. good that jack  tore into her. this first daughter storyline need to be bought out too long winded for my taste.

'24': Jonas No Mo-nas. Was Agent Aaron Involved? Hope Not.

Previously on "24," Tony went over to the dark side, Jonas Hodges got immunity, Olivia Taylor kept being a snake and possibly incited Aaron the Awesome Agent to kill someone, and Jack's sickness got worse. Is Kim the Show Killer going to come back and save him?

Online Chatroom of Evil
The OCE works on Jibraan, their muslim patsy, by threatening his little brother Amid's life. Except a neighbor heard the invasion and called the DCPD, so Tony sends Jibraan to talk to them. I hope he can blink in morse code. Unfortunately, the police leave quietly, not noticing Jibraan's nervous demeanor and sweaty visage. Tony gets Jibraan ready to move out, forcing Jibraan to convince Amid of his terrorist activities so Amid can tell the police that Jibraan is a terrorist.

Jack and His Angels
Sabrina Janice continues to cry "Bill of Rights," which she should know does not effect Jack Bauer. Rights? We don't need no stinkin' rights. Hasn't she watched this show before? Kelly Chloe is informed of Jack's exposure to the bio weapon and takes her moment, then pulls herself together like the Chloe we all know and love.

Chloe finds Jibraan in one of their searches on the CTU servers and Jack and Jill Renee head out to speak to his personal reference at a mosque in Georgetown. Sorry, last Jack's Angels reference. But wouldn't you watch a show called Jack's Angels where the Angels are Janice, Chloe and Agent Walker? I totally would.

The man at the mosque is Mr. Gohar is reluctant (and angry) to help Agent Walker and Jack. Jack is pretty self-righteous with him. I love me some Jack Bauer, but I side with the mosque guy. Luckily, Janice calls with a report from the DCPD and gets Jibraan's address. Jack hauls Mr. Gohar with them so he can't tip Jibraan off.

Chloe keeps fishing and discovers that Jibraan didn't actually receive the money they thought he received from Muslim extremists, the deposits were back-dated to frame him. Jack uncuffs Mr. Gohar and admits he was wrong. When they get to Jibraan's apartment, only Amid and a guard are there. They take both into custody.

Meanwhile, Janice sets Jonas up with Witness Protection info. I hope it's like My Blue Heaven. I'm wich you! I'm wich you. Jonas gets into his SUV for transfer... and is promptly blowed up. Yikes.

All the President's Men Daughter
Olivia meets with Martin Hollier, giving him Jonas Hodges' itinerary and agreeing to transfer $250,000 to him. Aaron the Awesome Agent stands guard. Oooh, if she drags him into anything I will be so angry.

Olivia receives an anonymous call with the bank routing numbers, but is interrupted by Aaron the Awesome Agent about her dad wanting to see her (he's been moved to the White House). She chickens out on her plan and goes to her father. The family has a nice moment at his bedside.

When they receive word of the Jonas Bomb, they learn that it had to be an inside job. Did Aaron kill Jonas with a car bomb for Olivia? Do not want! Sprague Grayden is fine and all, but she is no Jean Smart.

I can't believe we only have 3 episodes left, guys! It feels like this season has really flown by and I can't say that about all seasons of "24." I can't wait to see how it ends.

I knew she would back out the minute she confirmed the hit over the phone.  How stupid could she be?

The whole scene with Tony and the patsy smacked of jumping the shark. Patsy might have a chance to live? Junior Patsy would tell about his brother being a surprise terrorist without mentioning the people who broke into their apartment and tied him up? Of course, in 24 world the FBI would probably would just use it to justify their jumped to conclusion suspicions rather than letting little things like facts get in the way. But the fact that Chloe took less time to break through the facade than it took the Apple Cartel to upload it suggests that Tony has aligned himself with half wits.

As soon as First Daughter called the hit man, I knew her goose was cooked. Only Kim would think to call a hit man on her own cell phone and transfer funds on a computer on the WH Wireless Network. So Olivia is the new Kim. And only an idiot of an assassin would go through with the hit without having received payment. So one of two things is going to happen: either the assassin went through with the hit and is now going to come after Olivia for payment (its not like he would have any difficulty getting through WH security), or Hodges was killed by the Apple Cart which still has its hooks in the federal government and Olivia will only think that she's responsible and her paranoia will cause a breakdown.

Of course, its also possible that the Apple Cartel or someone else knew she had almost ordered the hit and will use that information to blackmail her into actions that would help Tony succeed in his attack. But I think I would prefer to see a one-handed Aaron defend the First Family and single handedly do what the entire Secret Service could not - protect the White House from invasion.

BTW, this bio weapon is clearly not contagious, so the idea of a plane carrying it across the country wouldn't work. It has to be mass instantaneous exposure in order to inflict the most deaths, and it has to be at a place central to the operation of the federal government in order to paralyze Washington and force an abdication to autocracy by the President. In this context, the subway makes the most sense, although the private congressional subway would be even more impactful.

I'm really hoping for the Apple Gang blew up Hodges and now have Olivia over a barrel. Would President Mom sacrifice Jack to save dumbass daughter??

I have to admit, I really did like the fact that the DCPD responding to a domestic disturbance call, completely ignored a jiddery sweaty Muslim at the ass-crack of dawn. It kind of reaffirmed my faith that in the bizarro world of 24, a cop does not use racial/ethnic/poral excretion profiling.

Chloe's ability to crack codes with lightening speed should not really bother anyone. I mean it was her little Morris that cracked the last one in mere miliseconds. I was a little more surprised at the speed in which Lil'Patsy was able to smash a picture and stab Apple guy in the neck. Holy Crap, that was some quick thinking...an hour late, but quick thinking.

Wow, talk about your stale plotline. Jack's daughter is in peril so Jack has to set Tony free...haven't they done this one eight zillion times already? It's either Jack's girlfriend, Jack's wife, Jack's daughter, Jack's girlfriend's father, yada, yada, yada.

..and the ANNOYING rivalry between Janis and Chloe...

The cat fight between Chloe and Janice was a contrivance simply to allow Chloe to spew fan-pleasing lines such as if you knew anything about me you would know not to expect validation.  The only sign that you would ever get out of Chloe is her biting her lip, a form of punishment for not being the smartest kid in the class.  And speaking of smarts, how is it that she can crack a hack but not resurrect a PDA?  All Tony did was smash the screen, not activate a self-destruct.

And yes, the whole Kim plot is contrived.  That is the nature of being Kim.  She can no more control being the dumbest and unluckiest person on the face of the planet than Pope can admit he's a fan of Grey's Anatomy.  Here's an easy way to tell if Kim is in trouble - she gets screen time.  Seriously, if you can recognize the actors she is interacting with, they are bad guys, and both the alleged husband and wife were recognizable.  Its just like on a cop show, its the guest actor that has been on other shows that is always guilty.  

I said hours ago that this finale would come down to a battle royale between Tony and Jack.  Notice how Jack asked Tony how he could betray HIM, not his country.  For Jack, this is personal.  It will be a play of mind games, physical torture, and Jack's Trekker belief that there is no such thing as a no-win situation.  Both know how each other thinks, and neither has anything to live for (or life left).  The only difference is that Tony does not care about collateral damage.  This one could go down to the wire.

As for Olivia, ah dear sweet, completely in over your head Olivia.  How disappointed I was to find out it was not the Apple Cartel who got wind of your murder for hire and then left an electronic trail even Alberto Gonzales could have followed to further destroy the government of President Taylor (as opposed to just destroying her family piece by piece).  A missed opportunity there.  Speaking of Apple Cartels, is there no end to the number of people they can corrupt against their own best interests?  I mean really, does anyone really betray their country for anything other than money?  If you had principals, you wouldn't be a traitor in the first place.

And how did they manage to get everyone but the patsy off the train car without having alerted security?

'24': Who Framed Jibraan Al-Zarian?

To the creative minds behind “24,” I have only one question for you… really? Have you completely run out of ideas to wrap up another day that you have to involve Kim-freaking-Bauer in another “do it or else she dies” scenario? Was it too much for her to be taken out by the cougar all those years ago? Okay, that was three questions. But still… *sigh.*

The Spoilers give mad props to Andrea for her awesome work!

So the canister is being prepped and readied for final deployment in a last-ditch effort to poison the District before the Committee of Bad Men have a nutty. Cara dons a wig and glasses (a conservative Lady GaGa, if you will) to place the bio-weapon on the Red Line for Washington Center. Tony instructs Jibraan to enter said train and do nothing but sit. Of course, Jibraan can’t complete a simple task without raising a ruckus: he tries to alert Metro PD, only to find one of the officers is working for the Evil Syndicate. Tony gives him only one more chance to be a good boy.

Meanwhile, Jack resorts to his usual tactics in an effort to obtain information on Tony. Once the withholding of morphine tactic works, Jack has the bad guy call to say a wire transfer went badly. Too bad the call didn’t last long enough for Janis to work her magic, but it doesn’t matter as Chloe chides her for using the slow way. She only fares slightly better: pinpointing only the broader neighborhood. Jack directs a HAZMAT team to the area. Lucky for them, they’re able to better locate Tony in time for Jack to run him into parked cars. On the other side of town, Cara deftly places the duffel bag onto the train, and then steps off before Jibraan is fully aware of what’s going on.

Let us not forget the two “independent” women also involved whether they like it (or even know it) or not: Olivia and Kim. The newest Chief of Staff is in Pershing Park to meet Martin when Aaron calls; clearly upset she slipped out without his knowledge. More on that later. Martin appears from the shadows to reveal he went ahead and authorized the hit on Jonas because that’s what she would have wanted. He encourages her to transfer the funds… and now! On the other hand, Kim is on her way home when the flight is delayed. The bigger problem is that she’s being stalked from afar. She saddles up to a waiting couple (Glendale shoutout!) and makes small talk.

Tony isn’t exactly being helpful to Jack, so the only home is to resurrect the computer tracking Jibraan. This time it’s Janis to the rescue. Once they figure out Jibraan is on the Metro, Jack hacks into the private frequency and encourages him to find the device. He hesitates, but once the train is empty, is able to locate the duffel… except he nearly passes out when he finds out what’s inside. Naturally, he makes the mad dash outside (like Jack asked) only to be stopped by another officer. By pulling out the device, he’s granted access to the outside world… where he meets up with Jack, who takes the device into the HAZMAT vehicle and closes the door with 2.31 seconds to spare. That was close!

Back in the airport, Kim’s stalker continues to lurk in the shadows. Small talk guy goes to make a coffee run, only to later snap the neck of the stalker (who, as it turns out was working for Jack to protect Kim.) Wither our attractor of senseless violence? Our other damsel in “distress,” Olivia returns to the White House… and to a very upset Aaron Pierce. I’m going with the fact that he’s still a little shaken up by the day’s events, because he buys her outlandish sob story hook, line and sinker. Turns out that was just a cover to buy him time to call Ethan; inquiring as to the status of a recording system within the walls of Olivia’s office. Finally something to bring Olivia down, especially since she actually goes through the wire transfer this time.

Cara breaks the bad news to Alan Wilson, who takes the news as you would expect. All seems lost… except she has one more card to play (Kim!) As Jack puts Tony under heavy guard, reunites the Al-Zarian brothers AND receives an approving nod from Renee, he receives the call from Cara. She’s also kind enough to provide a live video feed of Kim, threatening her life (sigh) if he doesn’t cooperate in freeing Tony.

Sorry Elisha, but Kim needs to die already. Also, can we say buh-bye to Janis already?

The two-hour season finale is next Monday on your local Fox/Global station… how will it all end?

The final Morty's TV 24 Chat takes place tonight starting at 8pm with the 2 hour season finale.  Kim is kidnapped, Jack must betray his friends and his country and set loose a murdering terrorist who used to be his best friend.  What else could go wrong?  Did I mention he is dying from a bioweapon and has only hours to live?  Absurd?  No, its 24!  Come check it out tonight in Morty's TV Chat as Jack comes to the end of another very long day!

great ending all worked out

i wished the airport scene was more dramatic like the bad dude catching kim as she chased him you know how it usually is . you are chasing the bad guy and he ends up catching you from the back.

i didnt watch the past season so the whole tony angle was new to me . so him turning heel to semi good guy didnt mean much to me but i felt his pain.

totally thought president was going to destroyed the tapes and go with family

OK, it wasn't really a stretch, but here are things I called earlier in the day:

- Tony was on a mission of vengeance and did not care who he had to kill to get to the people who killed Michelle.  I do not think he was a semi-good guy.  I think he became a psychopathic murderer who was so lost in his desire for revenge he had lost all ability for rational thought.   Of course, Jack lost his wife on Day one and didn't break.  Great dialog between the two, though.

- Kim was going to save her father whether he wanted it or not.

- Renee was going to cross over to the Jack side.

- That Chloe and Janice would find a way to work together to save Jack, although it was only implied that they cracked the encrypted laptop frequency to find the location at just the right time.

Who did not predict, but should have expected, that you could set off an alarm in an industrial park and not have the police respond, that Kimwit might have actually learned how to take care of herself, and that Jack and Tony would battle through questions of relative morality...
