I remember watching an old show when I was in Elementary School (1970's), the show was probably from the 50's/60's or even earlier and had an elderly woman with a sewing basket or something similar.  She would take items from the basket and tell stories as she did so, it's driving me nuts trying to remember what it was or who she was.  I think when I watched it showed on PBS.  Our school let us watch a lot of PBS TV.
