Let's talk alliances

Recommended Posts

Seems like most of the houseguests are in some type of alliance. But I am particularly intrigued with the ones with cool names. The Crazy 8's seems to be defunct, it only lasted less than a week. The Double D's seem to be going strong, although it appears that Donny is duping Devin, LOL. Los Cuatro or El Quatro only lasted a few days before Joey exposed them, I still don't understand why she did that. And finally, I am confused about the Bomb Squad. I thought it had 6 members, but it might have eight. It was originally comprised of Devin, Caleb, Zach, Frankie, Amber and Christine. But based on conversations on BBAD, it seems like Cody and Derrick might also have joined. Who can tell me if I am correct? Who are the current members of the Bomb Squad?

I have yet to see Hayden make any kind of alliance. He is friendly with everyone and kind of playing the fun, happy guy role but he needs to make some kind of bond with a couple people. He seems to have been excluded from the guy alliance for some reason.

I was watching BBAD last night and could not figure out who is with who.... Who's in that "Bomb Squad"? And who named it that?

It seems that the most powerful alliance in the house is the Bomb Squad. I am not sure who named it that , but it consists of Devin, Caleb, Frankie, Cody, Derrick, Zach, Amber and Christine. I heard Devin talking to Amber telling her that if he won the next HOH, he would ask Brittany to either join the Bomb Squad or get put up for eviction. He said they needed an extra vote.

Horrible alliances this season. I don't know why people cannot go into that house, and just chill for at least 3 weeks before attempting to make or join an alliance. Bomb Squad started off with 6 members...Caleb, Devin, Cody, Zach, Derrick and Frankie. Later the same evening Devin went downstairs, and told Amber and Christine about it, and then asked them to join (because he decided that he needed two female allies). Of course they accepted, so the Bomb Squad now has 8 members. The other members are royally ticked off at him because he didn't discuss bringing in the ladies, just sort of told them that they are now members. It's going to fail miserably of course because the guys in it hate Devin, and the girls think he's an idiot.

Devin is definitely an idiot. You really only need a core alliance of about 4 people and two or three on the side and you will completely control everything. Devin thinks that you need a majority of the house in your alliance. He will be the first one thrown under the bus when someone outside the BS is head of household. Was he a recruited player? He plays like a guy that watched about 3 seasons and now believes he is a strategic genius.

Poor Devin, how could he be so stupid when he knew that his trustworthiness and his word was all he had in this game? He made a big deal out of informing the house of his honesty and integrity yet, he went back on his word and did not pull Paola off the block and had the audacity to put Zach on. Did he really think that these major violations would be overlooked by his cohorts??? Was his ego really that big?

Devin went on a power trip and when he got back from that trip he found out he was in deep trouble with the alliance. He seriously thought he was running the house and could just sail right through doing what he was doing. he thought the Bomb Squad would just do what ever he wanted. Did you see how fast Zach became his target once Zach told Devin that he was seriously questioning voting out Britany? He was mad and I knew right then Zach was going on the block and that was it. I just wish they would have kept telling him Zach was going home and then send Poala home instead.

Tres Amigos....Derrick, Zach, Cody?? Hmmmm not going to work IMO. To many variable personalities. Now talk of bringing in either Brit, Nic or Vic. They should bring in all 3....so the gals could use the guys to get to F3 :)

Actually Zach told Devin to put him on the block if he wanted to. Devin said he wasn't going there because of the alliance members deal not to put each other up, but when Zach told him that, Devin did what he suggested. I know many people blame Devin's antics for his demise in the game, but let's not forget that Derrick has now taken control of the bomb squad, and is telling everyone what they need to be doing. Talk about a power trip. He has become Helen (of last season) in this game. One HoH win, knowledge of Team America, and his ego took off like an eagle. He also did as Devin, and put Caleb on the block when Caleb stupidly volunteered. So if they feel a need to point fingers at Devin's stupid behavior, then point out Derrick's too. That's all I ask of those people. Be fair about it because the hypocrisy is spread throughout that alliance.

I agree, Derrick is becoming as egotistical as Devin. I think the major reason that Devin is on the block is because he is a strong competitor and not easily manipulated. And the people with the better social game would not be able to use him so readily, so he "gots to go"! He was a major threat to Derrick, Zach, Cody and Frankie so they were able to rally the group against Devin with ease. He was more outspoken than the others because he was, after all, HOH. This was so bogus, what they did to him. He was HOH and had the final say of who he wanted on the block, and who he wanted to go home. For another member of his alliance to publicly oppose him because he disagreed with a sitting HOH's target is unheard of in BB history. OK, maybe he shouldn't have called Zach's bluff and put him on the block, but evicting Paola should have been Devin's only punishment. For the entire alliance to turn on Devin was wrong, his blowing up the BS was his only recourse to save himself. Unfortunately, it looks like it was all to no avail.

Didn't they invite Hayden in when all the Devin stuff went down? He did agree to be part of them. I think they need more members to make it work. :giggle:

Yes, my original post was before Devin won HOH. When he put Zach on the block, Devin asked Hayden to join the group as a replacement for Zach. Little did he know that Hayden would be Devin's replacement.

I have to strongly disagree with comparing Devin's behavior with Derrick's. I feel like these two are on opposite ends on the spectrum on how to be an HOH. Devin played his HOH extremely erratically and wrecklessly. His paranoid delusions and making decisions on a whim based purely on emotions dug maybe the quickest grave I've ever seen dug in this game. Derrick, on the other hand, is playing it perfectly. Caleb didn't just volunteer out of the blue to go on the block. Derrick masterfully persuaded him to volunteer, using his feelings for Amber as a tool. He was able to turn his nomination into what feels to Caleb like a favor, which is about the best outcome you can hope for as an HOH. He's definitely playing a sneaky game but he's doing it in a very smart way that I've had fun watching. I think a good indication of who is playing the best game is listening for who's name is being mentioned the least as a target and I don't think I've heard a single person mention his name. I remember thinking the same thing about Andy last season and that turned out pretty well for him.

I am not a fan of Devin's, I think he did play his HOH erratically and stupidly. But in his defense, he expected that as HOH, his decisions would be respected. If not by the house, at least by his alliance. He had every reason to be paranoid, as Zach was plotting against him. Derrick did the same with Caleb as Devin did with Zach. Derrick's paranoid delusions regarding Caleb made him manipulate Caleb into volunteering for the block. Derrick's decision to manipulate Nicole into putting Donny on the block was based purely on emotions. Isn't that the reason Donny went on the block, for talking to Jocasta and Brittney about Derrick's group? And Derrick continues to throw Donny under the bus every chance he can based on reasons only known to him. Devin was not afraid to do his own dirty work, while Derrick has others do it for him. Good for Derrick the great manipulator, I guess that skill is needed in this game. So yes, he is playing his game better than Devin, but he is just as egotistical as Devin. He is convinced that he can continue to control the others, as did Devin. But only time will tell.

You must not have the feeds. You have it all mixed up. Derrick was masterful in the way he got Caleb to volunteer

Derrick had NOTHING to do with Nicole putting up Donny. He didn't even know about it. It was a last minute decision made by Nicole alone.

Derrick is wise to keep other people in the line of fire to keep it off himself.

Derrick may have been playing too hard and talking too much for a while that is true but I have never seen him bully anyone.

It is true that I don't have the feeds, but I do watch BBAD every night. Yes, Derrick was masterful in the way he got Caleb to volunteer. But he did so based on the discussions with Nicole . Nicole told Derrick that she planned to put up Amber and Derrick saw a way to get rid of Caleb if Devin were to win the Veto. However, Derrick and Nicole did discuss putting up Donny after Amber came to the HOH and told them what she had overheard Donny saying. Derrick told her that she should put him up as a warning to keep his mouth shut, or something to that effect. And she felt very bad about doing it. I agree that he is wise to hide behind other players, that is good game play but manipulating people or bullying them to do your bidding is just a horse of a different color, IMHO.

But all these things he is doing are smart from a gameplay perspective even if you don't like that he is going after players you like. Getting Caleb to volunteer to go up not only took all the heat for the nomination off his back, it gave the house the 2nd biggest target for eviction if Devin won veto and allows Derrick to guarantee his 2nd nomination safety, keeping his hands clean no matter what going into the next week. Also, Derrick has a good reason for getting someone else to take out Donny for him. Donny is the sentimental favorite in the house and is very likely to win the money if he makes it to the end. However, he is also in Team America, meaning Derrick can't go after him himself without a lot of fan hate coming his way. Subtley trying to persuade someone else to take him out is best for Derrick's game.

Well both Nicole and Derrick talking to each other and everything I saw on the feeds they never had the discussion about putting up Donny. On the feeds Nicole explained to Derrick after the nomination ceremony how it was a last minute decision and she didn't have time to talk to him about her decision to put up Donny. Nicole even talked about it was her knee jerk reaction in the diary room on the CBS show and Derrick said he only found out when he went to put his keys in and saw Donny's key was gone.
