Soap Star Sweeney, Husband Welcome Son 15_5_10.gif

sweeney8ph.jpg

Congratulations to Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) and husband David Sanov on the birth of their first child. Their son, Benjamin Edward, was born February 25th at 10:30am. The bouncing baby boy weighed in at 7lbs.

Sweeney recently took a three-month maternity leave from Days of our Lives. The actress was able to pre-tape some scenes, so her on-screen presence will not be too long. In her absence, DAYS has hired a male actor - yes, a male -- to portray the character of Sami. There's no real gender-bender, though; Sami will go undercover as a man.

Sweeney's husband recently broke into daytime television when he portrayed a state trooper on DAYS. In real life, Sanov is a police officer.

Britney conforms pregnancy on her website

April 12, 2005

Britney Reveals Pregnancy!

Ending weeks of speculation, BRITNEY SPEARS announced that she is pregnant today. On her Website, the pop princess issued a statement to fans saying, "The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together. There are reports that I was in the hospital this weekend, KEVIN and I just want everyone to know that all is well."

Last month, Britney hinted at the upcoming announcement, saying: "I feel as though I have been very quiet and still lately. 'The calm before the storm' ... I can really relate to that statement right now."

Marrying dancer KEVIN FEDERLINE last fall made Britney more than a new wife, she's also step-mom to his 2-year-old and newborn baby with "Moesha" actress SHAR JACKSON.

Earlier this year, she told "The Insider"'s STEVEN COJOCARU that she's determined to make her own family. "I want to be a young mom. That's my dream. You can judge me however you want. I'm happy. That's what I wanna do!"

The 23-year-old pop star wed Kevin in a surprise ceremony on Sept 18. About 30 guests, including Britney's mom and sister, attended the Saturday night nuptials, which took place in a white tent erected in the backyard of her wedding planner's home.

JAMIE LYNN and her mom arrived wearing pink velour sweatsuits and carrying goodie bags stuffed with gifts like silver pendants with the couple's picture inside. Guests were asked to sign confidentiality agreements and were whisked there in passenger vans from their respective hotels.

The beaming bride left the house in the early hours the next day and headed for her wedding reception at Dublin's nightclub in Hollywood. A laughing Britney, who had dyed her hair brunette, and her brand-new husband departed the home in a black SUV. The rest of the guests emerged wearing sweatsuits -- the girls in pink, the boys in white with the word "Pimps" embroidered on the back. Kevin's dad had his own special sweatsuit that said "Pimp Daddy."

'One Hill Tree' Co-Stars Marry in Calif.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Actress Sophia Bush and actor Chad Michael Murray, co-stars of the television series "One Tree Hill," are now one.

They were married Saturday during a seaside ceremony at the Casa del Mar Hotel in Santa Monica, Bush's publicist, Sarah Fuller, said Monday.

Bush, 22, and Murray, 23, met in 2003 while filming "One Tree Hill," in which she plays feisty cheerleader Brooke Davis and Murray plays Lucas Scott, a brooding intellectual struggling to find peace.

They were engaged in July 2004. Murray said he proposed while they were in Australia, where he was finishing work on the movie "House of Wax."

"I had a bunch of roses and I put lights down on a tennis court that spelled something out for her," he said at the time, declining to say what the message read. "House of Wax" debuts May 6. Bush stars in this summer's "Supercross."

Benjamin's Second Bratt

By Julie Keller

benjamin_bratt5.jpg

It's another collaboration for Benjamin Bratt and wife Talisa.

The couple, who met in 2000 while filming Piero, the art-house biopic of junkie poet-playwright Miguel Piero, are expecting their second child in the fall, according to a joint statement released Wednesday.

They already have a daughter, Sophia, born in December 2002.

Benjamin, 41, and Talisa Bratt (ne Soto), 38, are both alums of People's Most Beautiful list and have some A-list credits (he plied his trade in Law & Order; she was a Bond babe in License to Kill). But they are, perhaps, most famous for their breakups.

Bratt, of course, was the longtime boyfriend of Julia Roberts. He and Soto tied the knot in April 2002, less than a year after he and Roberts broke up. Soto herself was also the victim of a celebrity couple breakdown, if not as high-wattage. She split with hubby Costas Mandylor in 2000.

Since their marriage, the couple have focused more on baby-making than movie-making. He last appeared in 2004's box-office disaster Catwoman with Halle Berry. The last we've seen of the missus was in 2002's similarly panned Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever with Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu.

Next up for Bratt, other than diaper duty, is the indie film Thumbsucker, the war film The Great Raid and the biopic Che.

Elton Plans Civil Marriage with Long-Term Male Partner

lthumb.sge.jyh29.250405152032.photo00.ph

David Furnish (L) and Elton John.

LONDON (Reuters) - British pop star Elton John intends to marry his long term partner David Furnish some time this year or in 2006, his publicist said Monday.

The singer told the Mirror tabloid that he and Furnish wanted to hold a civil partnership ceremony in Windsor, near London, in mid-December, although publicist Gary Farrow said John had added it could take place some time next year. "He (John) said that it may be by Christmas and it may be next year," Farrow told Reuters.

He added that one of John's main motivations for going ahead with the ceremony was financial. Civil partnerships between gay couples will be allowed in Britain from December 5 and give partners tax breaks available to married couples.

John, 58, and Furnish, 42, have been partners for more than 11 years. A Web site recently speculated the couple was splitting up, prompting Furnish to say that they had "never been happier."

John told the Mirror that Furnish should not expect some of the trappings of a regular marriage. "There will be no honeymoon. I'm on tour," he said.

John has sold tens of millions of records worldwide and is best known for classic tracks including "Candle in the Wind" and "Rocket Man."

He has signed an agreement to perform 75 shows over three years in Las Vegas and is also touring the United States, Europe and Canada over the coming months.

John, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, previously married German music engineer Renate Blauel in 1984. She and John divorced four years later.

Wedding Bells for Cam and Justin?

Is Cameron Diaz, who has something of a reputation for falling down, about to take the biggest plunge of 'em all? London's News of the World claims the accident-prone actress will say "I do" with Justin Timberlake next weekend in the South of France.

The so-called "showbiz wedding of the year" is supposedly set to take place at the ritzy Grand-Hotel Du Cap-Ferrat in Nice on Saturday.

"It is fully booked for a special event next weekend," a hotel source tells the tab. "They have booked the whole hotel."

So why Nice and not, say Vegas, where the couple of two-plus years was rumored to be getting hitched back in February? According to the paper, Diaz, 32, and Timberlake, 24, "fell in love" with the deluxe Du Cap digs during the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.

"Justin and Cameron are used to living in the public eye but really wanted to be able to get married out of the spotlight," a source tells the paper. "They knew if they did it in L.A. it would turn into a media circus so they went abroad. Only their closest friends and family have been told about the wedding for fear of it leaking out."

Good plan. Let us know how that worked out, 'kay?

Renee Zellweger, Kenny Chesney Get Married

By Charlie Amter

zc10pp.png

Rene Zellweger is a singleton no more.

After a whirlwind four-month courtship, the erstwhile Bridget Jones' Diary spinster was hitched to country star Kenny Chesney Monday in the Virgin Islands, her publicist confirmed to E!

The freshy minted marrieds--heretofore known as "RenKen"--tied the knot "in front of close friends and family in St. John," said Zellweger publicist Nanci Ryder, who offered few details of the surprise nuptials, other than Zellweger's gown of choice (a Carolina Herrera number).

Chesney went barefoot for the cermony, per Entertainment Tonight, but no immediate word on whether he went down the aisle with his Stetson on. The couple "laughed and cried" during the 15-minute ceremony, ET reports.

Zellweger and Chesney have only been dating since Jan. 15, when they met at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief benefit. She served him his traditional margarita at an Apr. 29 show in Jacksonville, Florida, and last week the couple were spotted getting all kissy at a P.F. Chang's restaurant near Nashville. This week's People quotes Zellweger's publicist saying the twosome "are in the very early stages of getting to know each other."

We can't wait to see what happens once they get past that awkward stage.

This is the first marriage for both.

Zellweger, who turned 36 in April, is eight months over her relationship with another musician, White Stripes frontman Jack White. The Texas-born beauty other leading men have included her Me, Myself & Irene costar Jim Carey in 1999-2000 and George Clooney in the mid-'90s. Aside from her Bridget Jones flicks, Zellweger is best known for such films as Jerry Maguire, Chicago and Cold Mountain, the latter of which earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.

Chesney, 37, was previously engaged to Mandy Weals, but they called off their relationship after calling off their wedding in 1998. One of Nashville's biggest acts, Chesney won Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards last November. His latest album, Be As You Are: Songs from an Old Blue Chair, debuted atop the Billboard Hot 200 in February. It was his third straight chart-topper, following 2004's When the Sun Goes Down and 2002's No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem.

The newlyweds' honeymoon will be over soon, however. Chesney is due in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Thursday for a concert, and Zellweger will hit the PR circuit later this month for her new film, Cinderella Man, which is due in theaters June 3.

Jason Priestley Weds

By Sarah Hall

jp9ad.jpg

Jason Priestley is a married man. Again.

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star tied the knot with longtime girlfriend Naomi Lowde over the weekend on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. The twosome have been together for several years and got engaged last May.

It was the second trip down the aisle for Priestley, whose previous marriage to makeup artist Ashlee Peterson lasted less than a year. Apparently, Priestley is drawn to cosmetics queens--the English-born Lowde is also a makeup artist.

Priestley has endured some tough times since the heady days of 90210. In 2002, Lowde helped nurse the former teen idol back to health after he was in a serious head-on car crash during a warmup lap at the Indy Racing Infiniti Pro Series at Kentucky Speedway. The near-fatal crash left Priestley with a concussion, broken back, fractured feet, lacerated nose and bruised eye socket, but he went on to make a full recovery. "He's a medical miracle," Lowde said at the time. "He could have died from any one of his injuries."

60-year-old Rod Stewart to be a father for the seventh time

UPI News Service

rodstewart1fd.jpg

British rocker and crooner Rod Stewart and his fiancee Penny Lancaster are reportedly expecting Stewart's seventh and her first child.

The Mirror said the couple planned to make an official announcement within weeks, but friends and family confirmed Lancaster, 34, is pregnant.

"Rod might be getting on a bit but he's not the only old man to have a child and Penny has never made a secret of the fact she would like kids," a friend of the couple said.

Stewart, 60, rarely sees his eldest daughter, Sarah Thubron, who is 41, but is in touch with his other five children.

Lancaster fuelled pregnancy rumors by putting the subject of children off limits for all interviews and at a recent photo-shoot with a glossy magazine, stylists were asked to prepare more "versatile cuts."

Paul McCartney was 61 when his daughter Beatrice was born last year.

Charlie Watches as Denise Delivers

By Marcus Errico

Three months after filing for divorce from Charlie Sheen, Denise Richards has delivered their second daughter.

Richards, 34, gave birth Wednesday night to six-pound, 10-ounce Lola, according to People magazine, as Sheen watched on.

There was no immediate comment from either actor on Thursday, but People reports that both mother and daughter are doing well.

Lola's birth comes on the eve of what would have been the estranged couple's three-year wedding anniversary.

Richards and Sheen also have a daughter named Sam, who turned a year old Mar. 9.

Just one week before Sam's birthday, Richards filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The split came with Richards six months pregnant and speculation that the 39-year-old Sheen had reverted back to his party-hearty, womanizing pre-Richards lifestyle. "We are deeply saddened by the recent events and out of care and concern for our daughter Sam, our unborn child, and each other, we ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time," the ex-couple said in a joint statement at the time.

A few days later, Sheen issued another statement. "I did not cheat on my wife. These stories and allegations are unconscionable," he said. "The reason for our separation is a private matter between the two of us."

Earlier Wednesday, publicists for both actors were denying the latest batch of tabloid-fueled rumors that claimed Sheen had moved back into the Encino, California, home the couple had shared. However, both Sheen and Richards had previously said the Two and Half Men star would be at the hospital when Richards went into labor.
