Episode 6.01: Title Unknown (Season premiere)

Airdate: September 24, 2009

  • 07/24 - ABC confirms that that Mitch Pileggi will appear in the season-six premiere, reprising his role as a member of the Seattle Grace board of directors. It's probably not good for the Chief that his boss is descending from on high to consort with the little people. [...] Grey's Anatomy's newest cool guest casting is actor/all-around badass Martha Plimpton. Look for her first in the season premiere, with her "patient's mom" arc continuing for multiple episodes. Source: Kristin on E!Online
  • 07/24 - Look for Owen's PTSD to possibly flare up in the Sept. 24 opener. I say this because my Grey's mole tells me that Seattle Grace's go-to shrink, Amy Madigan, will appear in the second hour of the two-hour premiere. Source: The Ausiello Files
  • 07/12 - Pam Smith brings her 15-year-old son Andy to the E.R. Andy is in a lot of pain and tells a female doctor that the pain started a few weeks ago. Pam says that their family doctor diagnosed Andy with growing pains. Pam doesn't believe that's what her son has since he's fallen down on the soccer field, threw up, etc. The doctor is stumped when the results of the first batteries of tests she ordered come negative. So she has to order the less fun tests to be done on Andy. Doctors prep to take various organs from a donor to different patients in multiple hospitals. A doctor has difficulties with a young patient to the point that the patient asks the doctor why she didn't let her die! The doctors also have to take care of victims from a boating accident. There is a funeral scene. Could it be George's? Source: SpoilerFix.com
  • 07/10 - Andy Smith: Male, All Ethnicities, 18 year old that must look 15 years old, tall, middle class, patient in the hospital. Two-episode arc. Pam Smith: Female, All Ethnicities, mid 30s - mid 40s, likeable, middle class, mom of Andy. Two-episode arc. Clara: Female, All Ethnicities, 19 year old, patient in the hospital that has been in an accident. Must be foreign with true accent and have working papers. Two-episode arc. Jasmine & Jo: Female, All Ethnicities, 19 years old. Fit, happy, outdoorsy girls traveling through the states. Must be foreign with true accent and have working papers. Priest: Male, Catholic priest, All Ethnicities, 60s. Source: SpoilerTV
  • 07/10 - Yes, there will be a priest [in the premiere], but no, he won't be marrying anyone off. His presence is needed for something far less celebratory. Source: The Ausiello Files

  • 09/06 - [Owen and Cristina are]headed for a dry spell. In the season premiere, Amy Madigan's shrink advises Owen against making any further sexy time with Cristina until he can get the voices in his head to shut the hell up. Relax, they're not breaking up. Just taking things slooooow. Source: The Ausiello Files
  • 08/09 - Actor T.R. Knight doesn't return for the Sept. 24 Grey's Anatomy season premiere, but his character, Dr. George O'Malley, will. "Transplant doctors descend on Seattle Grace because it's revealed that George was a registered organ donor," according to a source who was on the Grey's set and spoke to Life & Style. "But his colleagues are still reeling from George's death and are fighting with the transplant doctors to stop them from taking his lungs, liver, corneas and bone marrow. It's only when everyone hears what lives will be saved that George's friends start to get some perspective on his death." According to the source, all of the scenes with George were shot using special effects and makeup. "It's one of the goriest scenes they've ever done because you literally see each of these organs get pulled out of his body," says the insider. Source: MSNBC
