CBS announces 'The Amazing Race 14' will premiere February 15

By Steve Rogers and John Bracchitta, 12/02/2008

CBS has announced The Amazing Race's fourteenth edition will premiere on Sunday, February 15 at 8PM ET/PT.

The Amazing Race 14's premiere will mark the first time CBS has aired fall and spring editions of The Amazing Race in the same season since the show's tenth and eleventh editions aired during the 2006-2007 season.

CBS renewed The Amazing Race for the twelfth season in May 2007 but had announced that for the first time in three years, the show would not air as part of the network's fall schedule and would instead air as midseason programming.

However that fall, CBS ended up debuting The Amazing Race's twelfth season earlier than expected when the network decided to cancel Viva Laughlin, a new musical drama that was airing in the Sundays at 8PM ET/PT time period The Amazing Race had previously aired in, after only a single poorly-rated broadcast.

The Amazing Race 12 delivered solid ratings during its unusual November-to-January broadcast run and ended up finishing No. 26 in the strike-interrupted 2007-2008 season's overall viewership rankings. However given the show's twelfth edition wasn't originally expected to air until later in the 2007-2008 season, there wasn't enough time for the show's producers to cast, film and produce a thirteenth edition in time for broadcast last spring.

The Amazing Race 14's premiere was announced as part of a 2008-2009 midseason programming announcement in which CBS also announced premiere dates for Survivor's eighteenth edition and Game Show in My Head, a new Ashton Kutcher-produced hidden camera game show.

Survivor's eighteenth edition will premiere on Thursday, February 12 at 8PM ET/PT, while Game Show in My Head -- which will be hosted by former Fear Factor host Joe Rogan -- will debut on Saturday, January 9 at 8PM ET/PT.

For us that still love Survivor, this is GREAT news!!!

CBS Orders Two More Seasons of 'Survivor'Enduring series gets 19th and 20th seasonsBy Alex Weprin -- Broadcasting & Cable, 2/26/2009 9:29:42 AM MTCBS has given the green light to the 19th and 20th installments of long-running unscripted series Survivor. The series, which put producer and B&C Hall of Famer Mark Burnett on the map, premiered on CBS in 2000 and has been a consistent ratings generator ever since. The latest installment, Survivor Tocantins, premiered earlier this month and has placed first in its time period in P18-49, P25-54 and total viewers.

Jeff Probst will continue as host of the series.

"Survivor is one of CBS's signature series and symbol of enduring quality and entertainment on prime time television," said Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment, announcing the renewal. "Every season delivers a fresh new adventure for viewers and a time period-winning performance on the network. We're excited to deliver audiences two more editions of outstanding production values, exotic scenery, new castaways and, of course, our Emmy Award-winning host."

The pickup will keep the series on CBS through the 2009/2010 season.
