'One Life To Live' Star Survives JetBlue Scare

by Charlie Amter

'One Life to Live's' Tuc Watkins

On almost any New York-bound plane out of the Los Angeles area, chances are a celebrity will be on board. The ill-fated JetBlue Flight 292 was no exception. "One Life To Live" star Tuc Watkins was among the 145 passengers and crew on the plane en route from Burbank's Bob Hope Airport to New York's JFK Wednesday, September 21 that was forced to make an emergency landing due to defective landing gear.

Watkins was heading to New York. He appeared on "The View" on Friday, September 23 to recount his harrowing experience. In a drama that played out live on television across the United States on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 21, the Airbus A320 jet circled the skies of Southern California before touching down at LAX with a front wheel facing the wrong direction.

Watkins and the other passengers had access to MSNBC and Fox News via JetBlue's in-flight TVs, with many watching their plane and hearing various commentators predicting the outcome of the emergency landing. The sets went dark about 15 minutes before the plane descended.

JetBlue flight 292 makes a safe emergency landing at LAX.

Because the plane needed to land nose up, the crew ushered passengers and their carry-ons to the rear of the plane. Passengers had to assume the crash position, head between knees, as the Airbus made its final approach. One flight attendant yelled, "Brace! Brace! Brace!"

JetBlue flight 292 made a safe emergency landing at LAX with faulty landing gear. The craft circled the region for three hours with its front wheels turned sideways, unable to be retracted into the plane. The pilot landed by balancing on the back wheels, then easing onto the front tires, which shot flames along the runway before tearing off.

Adriana and Duke begin to make love in their suite at the Palace but he pulls away in disgust when she inadvertently murmurs Rex's name during a moment of passion. Dorian again presses her exasperated fiance to reveal why there's so much animosity between him and his accomplished brother. Nash has another chat with Harry Armstrong and forces the private investigator to disclose how Antonio hired him to find Jessica. Meanwhile, Carlotta urges her son to forget about the woman who abandoned him but Antonio stubbornly refuses to give up his search. Dorian is appalled to learn from Kevin how Kelly plans to undergo surgery in order to conceive. Jessica regains control from Tess and sends an urgent e-mail to Antonio. Kelly icily advises Rex to steer clear of her young cousin. As the truth starts to sink in, Nash realizes that Tess is on the lam from her boyfriend back in Llanview. After Duke insults her family, an outraged Adriana slaps him across the face. David and Dorian set a wedding date once again.

Wednesday, September 28, 2005

Nash quietly asks Bruce to do some research on one Tess Buchanan. Viki returns to Llanview and is surprised to hear from a beaming Natalie how serious she's become about John. As Antonio prepares to return to family court, Rex hints that he may have a way to defang R.J. Meanwhile, R.J. confides to Lindsay why he's worried about the outcome of the next custody hearing. Antonio turns to John for help after receiving an e-mail from Jessica. At Statesville, Evangeline cautions Cristian that his wife seems to be quite enamored of her new love. Viki gently reminds her daughter how her heart has been broken before when she jumped into a relationship too soon. Nash assures Tess he won't let anyone come between them. Bo offers Rex a chance to join the police force for real. Cris vows to fight for the woman he loves. Bruce confirms for Nash that "Tess" doesn't exist. Viki cautions John not to hurt her vulnerable daughter. Cristian asks his attorney to deliver one of his sketches to Natalie.

Thursday, September 29, 2005

A frightened Addie phones her daughter for help. Startled to discover that Paige has moved in with Bo, Nora lashes out at her for forcing Matthew to play musical parents. Rex turns to Bo for some advice about matters of the heart. John prevents Evangeline from putting Cristian's sketch on Natalie's desk at the precinct house. Cornered by a curious Kevin and Kelly, Todd claims that Margaret gave up her vendetta and left the country. Blair grabs a gun and races to St. Ann's to confront "Margaret" following the tearful call from Addie. Paige assures an emotional Nora she could never replace her in Matthew's life or affections. Duke complains to Natalie about her brother's intrusion into his romance with Adriana. Later, Duke attempts to mend fences with Adriana but she balks at giving up her friendship with Rex. Todd rushes to stop Blair but arrives just as she fires at the nun leaning over Addie. Duke and Rex exchange punches once again. Though her bullet luckily misses its mark, Blair is placed under arrest as Addie collapses. Natalie gasps after catching a glimpse of Cris' sketch.

Friday, September 30, 2005

Rex and Duke both get hauled down to the police station following their second fistfight. Certain she's never seen the sketch before, Natalie wonders when Cristian could have drawn it. Todd fears he's about to be recognized after he spots a familiar face from Llantano Lake chatting with Bo. In his cell at Statesville, "John Doe" staunchly denies Carlo's allegations that he is Cristian Vega. Tess apologizes to Nash for running off after he caught her in another lie. Natalie demands answers from John about her late husband's drawing. Tess tells Nash that people used to know her as Jessica but insists she's not that girl any longer. Nora furiously confronts Bo about going behind her back to move his latest main squeeze into his place. As her temper rises, Nora threatens to take out a restraining order to keep Paige away from Matthew. Adriana explains to Hugh why Duke and Rex were fighting. Carlo's words have a startling effect on Cris. Relieved to have dodged a bullet, Todd assures Blair they no longer have to fear for their family's safety. As she quarrels with an exasperated Bo, Nora becomes hysterical and collapses in a heap. Nash promises Tess he'll do whatever he must to keep Antonio at bay. Marcie asks Rex if he's ready to move on so soon after Jen's death. Natalie accuses Evangeline of holding on to Cristian's old sketch just long enough to use it as a weapon. FROM TV GUIDE: Soaps

Monday, October 3, 2005

Though Tess scoffs at the notion that they could be pregnant, Jessica orders her alter to stop consuming alcohol at once. Rex reminds John that Antonio will lose custody of his young daughter unless they can prove R.J. has returned to a life of crime. At Statesville, Cristian begins to wonder if Carlo had a hand in his abduction and subsequent brainwashing. Michael rushes to treat Nora as she suddenly suffers a seizure on the floor of Bo's office. Confident that Jamie will soon be his, R.J. taunts Antonio about his revolving door girlfriends. Natalie returns for Cris' sketch but assures John she's completely happy with their renewed romance. Tess takes a home pregnancy test and is stunned to discover that Jessica was right. At the courthouse, Viki cautions Antonio and Layla they're walking a very thin line with their masquerade. Tess assumes she's carrying Nash's child but Jessica insists the baby belongs to Antonio. In the emergency room, Spencer explains to an anxious Bo how Nora's brain aneurysm will require immediate surgery. As the custody hearing resumes, Layla describes for the judge how devoted her live-in "lover" is to little Jamie. After Nora is wheeled into the O.R., Bo admits to Viki how guilty he feels about his ex-wife's collapse.

Tuesday, October 4, 2005

As the custody hearing continues, Antonio hesitates at playing his risky ace in the hole. Meanwhile, John pressures his prisoners to implicate R.J. in the heist. Hugh and Marcie come to the hospital to keep Bo company as he waits for word on Nora's condition. Natalie admits to Rex how much she's been dreaming about Cris lately but insists she's ready to let go of the past and move on with a new love. Tess decides to keep mum about her pregnancy after Nash jokes about missing his days as a carefree bachelor. Hoping to drive the final nail into his former son-in-law's coffin, R.J. reminds the family court judge how Antonio abandoned Jamie. Michael gently explains to a fretful Bo the possible consequences of Nora's delicate brain surgery. Jessica presses Tess to let her out so she can take proper care of their unborn child. Natalie encourages Rex to find a way to say goodbye to Jen. John tricks one of the robbers into naming R.J. as the mastermind of their latest crime. Marcie ruminates about the frailty of life while Bo wonders what to tell his young son. As the judge prepares to make her ruling, John arrives and places a sputtering R.J. under arrest. Later, Antonio is awarded custody of Jamie.

Wednesday, October 5, 2005

Spencer reports to Bo that he's stopped the bleeding in Nora's brain but warns that she may never again regain consciousness. Duke gloomily confides to his father how Adriana called out Rex's name while they were making love. Spencer catches Ginger snooping through his office. Blair is appalled to find her photo smeared all over the front page of the Exposer. Bo tells Paige why he blames himself for Nora's aneurysm. Dorian berates Kelly for even considering having Kevin's baby, especially with the inherent risks involved in Dr. Truman's experimental procedure. Spencer ominously reminds Ginger that she hasn't even begun to repay her debt to him. Though Todd offers her his personal guarantee that Margaret will never bother them again, Blair decides to do some investigating of her own. After Duke rebuffs Adriana, Kevin advises the girl to let his son go for good. Paige snarls at Spencer after he snidely suggests that she's disappointed to learn Nora survived her surgery. Adriana drops a hint to Kevin about a threat to Buchanan Enterprises. Hoping to bring Nora back, Rachel and Bo sit beside her bed and talk about happier times they've shared. Ginger and Duke indulge in a lingering kiss. Dorian attempts to blackmail her brother-in-law into canceling Kelly's operation.

Soapnet is showing an episode of Asa's funeral, its has some humorous scenes it it, I don't know if its going to be re-aired but there is about 25 min left. Good to see the character of Ben in it, and Alex makes an appearance. They showed a clip of Blair marrying Asa and she acknowledges with this weird look on her face they fact that another actress played the character at the time. It was quite funny.

9a/9p: One Life To Live (Original Airdate: 11/16/01)

Flashbacks, eulogies, and cameo appearances by four of Asa's ex-wives highlight this funeral.

I read on one site that the actress who plays Nora is in contract negotiations, If she doesn't re-sign the contract I think they are going to kill her off, this seems to be an awfull long negotiation period. She's been in a coma like 3 months, now they don't even seem to show her.

Thanks everyone, I guess the answer is there is no answer .... if she is leaving I want a finality to it, not just a comatose person over many years destined to return to spike ratings ... it would be cool if she woke up long enough to kill Spencer ...

I just read that Hillary B. Smith (Nora) signed a contract for another year, so looks like she'll be waking out of her coma soon.

Darn I was ready to see her go! I never really liked her character.. Too Goody Goody!

P.S I do love Todd Starr and Blair Dorian, David, Vicki, etc.. Except for Natalie, she gets on my nerves. Just choose already. It is not like she is some prize!

Would the writers be stupid enough to kill off one of there best characters? Won't they find out he is innocent in the very last second, as they are about to give the death penelty or something.

Does anyone think there could be a possiblility that John McBain isn't dead. I can't help but wonder if the burnt up, bandaged up Hugh could possibly be John.

I know John is definitely not dead, cause the actor just renewed his contract. So I'm assuming that its John in that hospital bed also. I hope they don't have Natalie fall for someone else and repeat the same story they did with her and christian a couple years ago.
